I was completely enthralled with this book. It is a love story but also so much more, it’s written in such a beautiful way that will capture your heart and make you laugh and cry!!

Joel meets Callie in the cafe she works in and they are instantly attracted to each other. Joel is scared to get involved with anyone as he has dreams about his loved ones that come true. Joel cannot fight his attraction with Callie and they start dating.

The romance between Callie and Joel is so touching and I was desperate for them to have a happy ending. But when Joel dreams about Callie it will change their relationship.

This book will stay in my thoughts for a long time.

I cannot recommend this enough. I am not usually into romance, but this captured my attention from the first page.

Thank you to Netgalley for my copy in exchange for a review.

I adored this beautifully written love story. The depiction of the characters felt real and their connection was magical. Highly recommended!

What a book! It was beautifully written. I wanted everything to work out for Callie and Joel but things weren’t meant to be.
Joel did such a brave thing letting Callie go.
It was such an emotional read at the end, if I wasn’t crying I had a lump in my throat.
Thank you netgalley and the author for letting me read this great book.

You would think that being able to see the future would be a useful skill, but for Joel it is a constant torment. He lives in fear of the next dream about someone he loves where the dream predicts something terrible happening. Meanwhile, he is hiding his secret from everyone he knows which is making his life very lonely. I felt really sorry for Joel as he has lost hope for his own future and being able to do anything with his life.

Callie has been putting off following her passions and has recently lost one of her best friends.

As soon as they meet there is an undeniable connection between Joel and Callie but Joel is afraid to let anyone else into his life. He already lives in fear for his family and friends. They way the author writes about their relationship as it grows and changes was really lovely. I also enjoyed the cast of characters surrounding them both.

This was an incredibly moving and heartbreaking story, which is beautifully written between Callie and Joel's points of view. The only thing that I didn't like so much was when some parts of Callie's story were set further in the future than the main story which gave some things away before they happened - beyond the predictions of the future by Joel.

This was a beautiful read. I gave this 4 out of 5.

Joel has dreams about the future. Not ambitious dreams, dreams where he literally see’s future events whether they be good or bad. So when Joel meets Callie he’s not sure he wants to take the risk...

I really loved the premise of this book but It was a slow burner for me. I didn’t really feel invested in the characters until much later on in the book and even from the first few chapters I was just waiting for something big to happen.

It did make me cry at the end but overall I just didn’t feel much for the characters. I guess I’m just a sucker for a happy ending and I wanted a different outcome!

This is a romantic read that is nothing like any romance you have read about before.
It is an epic love story that is doomed.
It is unique and quirky and different and sensitive and beautiful and broken and funny and heart-breaking and, if it doesn't take an awful lot to make you cry, then at the end I can guarantee you will be sobbing! I managed to make it almost to the end but the last part is so powerful and pure, such a tremendous gift of ultimate love that I was left with tears streaming down my face to the extent that I had swollen eyes, a blocked nose and a wish not to leave the characters behind.
Holly Miller has created such a poignant love story, an exquisite painting of love in all its facets.
Joel is the non-working vet who has such a big heart and walks his elderly neighbours' dogs for free. Joel is also plagued by prophetic dreams that find him actively avoiding sleep. The dreams can be good and they can be mundane but they can also be bad, predicting life shattering future events for the people he loves. So Joel has a secret he does not wish to share and he will do everything he can to keep friends, family and any potential girlfriend at arms length.
Callie is still grieving the loss of best friend Grace. She has given up her dreams to work in ecology to manage the cafe that was Grace's business. Callie also looks after Grace's dog Murphy. Callie is funny and clever but she is lonely. She has huge, ambitious dreams but has no inclination to make any of them come true.
So, both main characters are hiding, but as this is a love story, they do come out of hiding and into the light to find one another in a way that is so joyful and glorious but which you know is going to be overshadowed by something menacing.
I cannot say anymore otherwise the plot will be ruined. If you like reading books where the characters become your friends, your neighbours, the people you see and talk to each day, the colours in your life, then The Sight of You will be a love story like no other. It will caress you, take care of you and then remind you that although nothing is forever, there are ways to carry on.
I liked this book so much I want to read it all over again even though I have only just finished it!

Holly Miller has become one of my new favourite authors! I'm so pleased that this book caught my eye and I was delighted to be given the opportunity to read an advanced review copy in staves via The Pigeonhole.

This wonderful début is a truly beautiful story. Callie and Joel meet one day at the coffee shop where Callie works, and they bond over the double espressos and drømmekage (Danish 'dream cake'). They fall deeply in love but Joel has a gift, or a curse, depending on your point of view - he has the ability to dream about those he loves and in those dreams he sees their futures. When he dreams about Callie one night, he must decide whether to let her go so she can live a full life before her fate, as foreseen by Joel, puts in its appearance.

As soon as I began reading The Sight of You I knew it was going to pull at my heartstrings. Told by Joel and Callie in alternating chapters there wasn't anything in this novel to dislike. Both Joel and Callie were lovely, selfless people and a part of me wished I could have been in the story, too, maybe as a customer at the coffee shop, but unknown to Joel!

Holly Miller's writing was truly magical in the way she portrayed all manner of moods and emotional states. I became rather smitten with all of the characters in the story and wanted nothing but great things for each of them. I also appreciated all of the descriptions of nature dotted throughout and how they played such an integral role in many pivotal scenes. The themes of family, friendship and love were powerful and evocative too.

The Sight of You is rich in emotion, a truly outstanding début, and I cannot wait to see what Holly Miller writes next. A fabulously wonderful romance that is not all hearts and flowers.

Thank you to Holly Miller, Hodder & Stoughton, NetGalley and Pigeonhole for the opportunity to read this book. This review is my unbiased opinion.

This was a really interesting book, with a great storyline. Joel has a gift (actually it's more of a curse). He is psychic, and in his dreams he can see the future of the people he loves the most. More specifically, Joel can predict their death. The day, the location, the time. So when he meets Callie, and they fall absolutely head over heels in love, Joel finds himself in a desperate situation. My only criticism is that I thought the book was too long and I did find myself skipping through the last bits towards the end.

My review is on Goodreads and has also been posted to Amazon, pending approval.

The sight of you is a simply beautiful story that will draw you in from the very start. The book follows Callie and Joel over a period of several years and is told from both their perspectives which gives you as the reader a fantastic insight. The book was heartbreaking, full of romance and a delight to read, I couldn’t put it down and have already recommended it to my friends.

The Sight of You is one of the best books I’ve read this year. Clever, poignant and almost lyrically written, I had a hard time putting it down.

The descriptions of wildlife and nature were vivid, the premise was intriguing and exceptionally well-executed, and I loved both Joel and Callie’s voices. The gift/burden of Joel’s second sight was handled really well, striking a balance between pragmatism and the unexplainable.

At certain times, I had no idea where Holly Miller was going with the story, but it was wrapped up beautifully and I don’t mind admitting I shed a few tears during the latter stages of the book.

A touching, emotional story about life and love, fate and chance, and everything we are willing to do for those we love, The Sight of You will stay with me for a long time. I’ll be buying this in paperback so I can read it again and place it on my bookshelf. Wonderful.

The Sight of You is an amazing love story.

Joel and Callie are made to be together, they bring out the best in each other, but destiny has another plan.

Joel has a special ability where he dreams of the future, the good and the bad. Meaning their future will always be intertwined.

I actually don't feel I can say anything else about the book - it would ruin it for any readers and its too beautiful a story to be ruined.

Thank you for the ARC, I will be reading this again in years to come.

What a rollercoaster of a book. I've just read this in one day. Joel and Callie are destined to meet but the road of life isn't a straight one and has more than its fair share of bumps. It isn't normally a book I'd read but I liked the cover. I'm really pleased I didn't miss it. Highly recommended.

The saddest love story I’ve ever read but so full of love and true love at that.
Full of difficult decisions and impossible situations but also beautiful relationships and friendships. It is well written and the characters really come alive, my only (minor) gripe would be that of Joel, I didn’t find him as loveable as I think he should be. I was frustrated by how resigned he was with his situation, it was all there in why and how he’d reached that point, but it just didn’t sit right with me, obviously not the fault of the author, just the reader!

Love, this is a book which is ultimately about love.
This is one of the best stories I've read this year. It's an emotional roller-coaster of a read and I had a lump in my throat and tears in my eyes by the end.

I don't want to give much away but this is so much more than a boy meets girl story. The characters are all likeable and it's written so well.

A must for this summer!

This has to be the love story of the summer.
It is so amazing and beautifully written.
Joel has dreams about his loved ones and they always come true whatever the consequences.
Joel meets Callie and they fall in love but as we all know the course of true love never runs smooth.
Be prepared for an emotional roller coaster.

A sad but uplifting story of love. Very emotional with an interesting question of how you would live your life knowing the fete of your loved ones.

Although a little predictable at times I didn’t feel that it hindered my enjoyment of this book which I would definitely recommend for those who enjoy a romantic novel with a bit of a twist. Well written with great characters brought to life with descriptions of those little moments couples share that many of us can relate to. The story of Joel and Callie will both break your heart whilst also filling it with love!

Thanks to NetGalley for a pre-release copy in return for an honest review.

The Sight Of You by Holly Miller is a story of love. Joel has been able to dream about the future with frightening accuracy from an early age. His dreams are mainly about the people he loves. His resolve is to shy away from any form of intimate relationship in order to avoid a repeat of the experience that has haunted him since childhood. He strikes up a friendship with Callie who works at the cafe that Joel gets his coffee from. Callie is also wary of getting close to anyone after the death of her best friend. They inevitably fall in love and all seem fine until Joel has a dream about Callie. It is hard to believe that this is a debut novel. The story and the characters are so believable you find yourself drawn into the setting of the book. The emotion that this book invokes is raw. The feelings of the characters are so palpable. It is one of those books that demand to be read in one sitting. It is a love story that will remain with you for a long time. I will recommend this book to anyone who loves a good story.

I'm not usually into romance but this one sounded promising so I thought I'd give it a go. However, it took only 30 pages for me to realise it wouldn't be my cup of tea. Without being bad per se, the writing style held no interest to me. I found the opening scenes rather trite, the sense of humour not really original. While I'm sure such an easy read will find its audience if the few first chapters are representative of the rest of the book, it's definitely not for me.
