This is one of those books that will stay with you long after you've finished it. I loved the relationship Callie and Joel. At times sad, hopeful, funny and moving, it was just a joy to read.

This is such a gorgeous love story -but you just know it isn't going to end well .
Joel is not your average hunk -he is handsome -kind - intelligent.....and has recurring dreams where he is shown the future of his friends and family.. This little affliction haunts him daily and stops him having any kind of meaningful relationship.. Then he meets Callie- falls in love and decides to take a chance .Everything is idyllic -until one night he dreams of Callie .....

The Sight of You is without a doubt my most favourite read so far this year!

Joel and Callie... soul mates who meet when Joel pops into his local coffee shop and then forgets to pay.

Joel has a pact with himself never to fall in love. He also had a gift whereby he can see the future of his loved ones in his dreams.

Good dreams and bad dreams, they tend to come true.

But when he meets Callie he can’t help but fall in love with her and life is perfect, until the dream.

Then he must make a tough decision about whether to set her free to live her life fully.

A wonderful love story. The characters in this book are so likeable. A story of love and loss and the realisation that if you truly love someone, you’ll always love them.

I was drawn to this book because of the intriguing blurb and concept behind the novel; Joel has prophetic dreams in which he sees what will happen to anyone he loves, the good, the bad and anything in between. Understandably this leaves him at a point where he refuses to get attached to anyone, that is, until he meets Callie, the love of his life. Everything goes beautifully until he has a dream about how it will end for them, and he has to make a choice about whether to continue as they have been, or let her go forever.

The novel was written in an easy, flowing sort of style which made it a pleasure to read, and I liked the simplicity of the story and how it was all about true love and what it means to make sacrifices for those we love. I appreciated that familial relationships and friendship was also made such a priority and I totally rooted for these characters, in their highs and lows, as they felt so genuine.

I did find myself tearing up at the end and I wish I could have changed things but it's one of those stories where it's impactful because of how it all unfolds and ends, and anything else would have cheapened the message or altered it into something which was lesser. So I guess I'm sort of conflicted but I loved this book and while it wasn't the most exciting, or action packed or even steamy for a romance, it was more about life and the choices we make and how we choose to love those around us. Although this was more of a one time read for me, I liked how wholesome and sweet this book was and I think fans of romance and more introspective romance in particular will enjoy this one.

What a book!
Beautifully written with totally believable characters it is a love story with a difference. As someone whose usual choice of genre is a murder mystery I wasn't sure if this book would be for me. How wrong I was, I thoroughly
enjoyed it. I liked the characters immensely and the style of the book was a perfect balance between them, each telling the events from their own alternating chapters.
A gentle emotive read, you will smile, hope and cry with this book.

Joel and Callie are two strangers who might just be perfect for each other. But they are both living with secrets.
Joel is living a lonely life. Trained as a vet he is taking a career break, lives alone and his social interactions involve dog walking for the neighbourhood old ladies. Joel also has premonitions – from when he was just a boy, he has had dreams in which he can see the future for the people he loves. Sometimes it is small things, like seeing them getting stuck in traffic, other times they are huge like knowing his mum was going to get cancer.
One day, he meets Callie who is running a café. Callie is coasting – her best friend has died, and she has taken over the café for her, despite her true love being the outdoors. Her dream job would be working with nature. She has always wanted to travel but has never quite done it and now doesn’t have the courage to take that leap.
There is an instant attraction between the two and when by pure coincidence, Callie ends up renting the upstairs flat to where Joel lives, the pair start dating and fall for each other. Joel is able to confide in Callie about his visions and she is supportive and doesn’t think he is mad! Joel is able to push Callie into applying for a dream job at the local nature reserve. They are great for each other.
But then Joel sees a vision of how it’s going to end.
Would you choose love, if you know how it would end?
This book!! I jumped on an Instagram readalong of this and then spent the whole weekend in the garden and finished it in less than 48 hours. I LOVED Joel and Callie – they are a wonderful couple, both broken and cautious about life but together, they bring out the best of each other. It’s been a while since I’ve read a romance story where I loved the characters and there were no annoying misunderstandings (that often seen to be the backbone of a love story).
It made me think about what a burden Joel has with the visions – he hasn’t been able to confide in anyone because they would understandably think he was mad. He doesn’t want to get close to anyone in case he sees something in their future. What he sees in the visions can be altered: for example, he sees a vision of a friend having a car accident, so he lets down his tyres to prevent it. It also made me think about if I would want to be told about something that might happen to me. Joel carries with him the guilt of not telling his mum she would get cancer and it makes him wonder if she would of preferred to have known so she could do the things she wanted in the time she had left.
I don’t want to say much more about the plot because you need to read this book. Just have the tissues ready!
A wonderful debut by Holly Miller. There has been a lot of hype around this book (it was pre-empted in less that 24 hours and already has a major Hollywood studio deal to make the movie version). I adored it!

The Sight of You, advertised as the love story of 2020. I'm not sure about that. It was certainly interesting, yes. But I'm not sure how I'd rate it yet.
The writing was good enough, but there were a few annoying details. For example, both main characters referred to celestial objects and events when something dramatic or important happened, which felt like the writer was trying to emphasise the monumentality of these things by feeding phrases to the characters that she liked, instead of letting the characters have their own vocabulary and phrases. The pacing of the book is rather slow in the beginning, then we get a nice flashed-out view of the main characters' relationship, and then their breakup and subsequent years after felt pretty rushed. The reminder of the years that have passed also felt intrusive, and the old "show, don't tell" would have worked better - e.g. indicating the passage of time in ways other than actually writing it out at the beginning of each new section.
As for the story, The Sight of You has an interesting premise, as the ability of one of the main character's to see the future of his loved ones opens up a lot of possibilities for interesting plot twists and character development. I found the fact that this "ability" was quite well accepted once he began to trust people with his secret quite refreshing - it wasn't sensationalised, it didn't turn him into labrat, and people didn't consider him a freak really. It's not very realistic, but at least it didn't turn the focus of the book to it. The clarvoyance being limited to his loved ones felt a bit too obvious of a plot device, and I would have preferred if it wasn't limited in this way.
The relationship between the two main characters is bittersweet. They are clearly in love, and they are clearly good for each other, the only issue is the timing. He is a mess and needs to sort himself out so that he can better embrace his ability and let people in. Their break-up feels inevitable in the book, but I wonder if it is. After the breakup, and some wallowing, he actually turns his life around - he is able to start taking care of himself, open up and trust people, mend and build relationships. So why was he not able to do this when they were together? Was she not worth it?
Of course, seeing the death of a loved one would be traumatic. But I did not agree with his assertions that he cannot keep quiet, he would have to tell her. He could have kept quiet. They could have stayed together. He made it impossible for them, which made me feel less sympathetic towards him. He came across as weak. And the fact that after the breakup he is eventually able to turn it all around, just confirms this. If he didn't feel strong enough to stay with her knowing that their time would be limited, then admit that, instead of saying that he has to tell her, he cannot keep quiet. He could have kept quiet.
I was happy to read that she found a new love, and had a family. Her new relationship seemed like the complete antidote, and allowed her to open up and blossom. She more than deserved it, and I wish there was more about her new life instead of the token snapshots.
The ending of the book was sad, but also made me question whether he actually caused her death. He has seen it happen, and figured out the time and place. He wanted to be there and make sure she had the best chance of surviving, hence he called the air ambulance. But I kept thinking, when they met, she knew why he was there. Then she had the heart failure. What if the realisation that this was it for her, is what caused the heart failure? Could he not have tried to prevent it and alter the outcome (like he did with his neighbour and his newborn) by intervening in a different way?
All in all, The Sight of You is a book that will certainly appeal to romance lovers who like their stories with a more seriousness. I'm happy I had the chance to read an advance copy, and I will be interested to see what the author writes next.

I was hooked on this book within a few pages of starting it, and it was very difficult to put down at all. I love a bit of soppy romance, but this was much more than that - this was a compelling and beautiful story which really makes you question what you would do for the person you love

All of the characters were so lovely, I loved the dual perspectives and the time jumps were perfectly executed - I was so invested in what happens I sobbed in many parts.I thought it was paced well, I never got bored of any part of the book, and often found myself wanting to race to the end to see what happened but also wanted to slowdown to savour the wonderful writing. The ending broke me in half, its definitely a love story that will stay with me.

I'd recommend this book to lovers of romance, and if you enjoy having your heartbroken by a book - this is one for you.

Love hurts that's the truth and Joel knows it. Totally resistant to any relationship then Callie comes along. He can't resist and love conquers all. Except that Joel has premonitions. Not the happy ever after had me smiling and crying at the same time. Keep the tissues handy but a really good read. Enjoy.

I decided to read this book as when I read the blurb it sounded intriguing and as a fan of thrillers mainly, I wanted to see whether I would enjoy a book I dont usually pick.

At first I wasnt sure about this book and I didn't warm to Joel at the beginning, however as the story went on I found myself falling in love with Callie and Joel. The love they have for each other literally comes out of the pages and you can feel how close they are.

This book made me smile and also made me have tears in my eyes at the end. I enjoyed that each chapter was from each character and how much time had passed in each chapter.
A lovely read, would definitely recommend!

I'm holding off giving it 5stars and only 4 because when I finished the book, as much as I enjoyed it, I didnt completely omg I love it, but it's a beautiful book and I really enjoyed reading it!

I was so excited when #NetGalley send a copy of this book for my review. The synopsis was great and very promising, so I had such high hopes for this book.

The characters were great; very relatable and likeable and not just the main ones - pretty much every character that had been introduced in a book was really well portrayed. The writing style is just beautiful.

But maybe that’s why it felt that the pace of the book was a little too slow; instead of letting the main story to develop, book focused on each and every character, so story wasn’t moving forward as much. But I think it’s something that only few would find as a downside.

I would definitely recommend this book for everyone who’s into books that focus on love and self sacrifice, instead of lust. You won’t find detailed descriptions of kisses and sex, but you will find the emotions that surround you when you love someone unconditionally. And when you know it will end.

I was pretty sure this book will break my heart, just from reading a synopsis, and it did. In a way. The author managed to end a book with something so heartbreaking, yet uplifting. Never thought I could feel both at the same time, and yet, here we are.

Wow! I loved this book! Had my emotions up and down. The ending made me cry. Such a beautiful love story. Would recommend reading this to everyone

This book broke my heart :'(
I really, really wanted Joel to overcome his fears and be happy. He had so much growth as a character but he still was not able to put the dreams aside and just live. I think in the end he let his dreams dictate how he lives his life and it should have been the other way round. Realistically, people are like this. It takes a lot of strength and self-acceptance and self-awareness to be able to overcome your fears and live your life to its fullest. I would give this a 3.5/4 rating.

What a beautiful story. This is a book that will stay with me for a long time. Beautifully written and constructed, it follows Callie and Joel’s stories from their perspectives. Joel has a condition which means he sees the future of the people he loves and he has decided not to fall in love. However Callie comes along and he can’t help it. Highly recommended

Callie and Joel, a modern, bittersweet love story. Joel is able to foretell the future, good or bad, of the people he loves. Is it a gift or a curse? Would you want to know when your loved ones were going to die? Joel doesn't, and therefore he has sworn off falling in love....until he meets Callie.
The ensuing romance, told alternately from both Callie and Joel's point of view, wends its way gently along and envelops you in their relationship. I loved them both and found the premise of seeing the future and its consequences fascinating.
This well written book would be a great anywhere holiday read and was for me a perfect 'me-time' read during lockdown. I recommend you read it accompanied by your favourite chocolate bar, a glass of wine and a handy supply of tissues.

I'm an emotional wreck after finishing this book. Such a beautiful love story between Joel and Callie - but with a twist. Had tears rolling down my face as I read the final few chapters. This is one of those books that will stay with me for quite a while.

If you’re looking for a emotional thought provoking love story, then "The Sight Of You" book is for you. Whilst it took a little while to get into, you can’t help but find yourself wiling Callie and Joel their Happy Ever After. Throughout, the story prompts you to question how you would live your life if you knew what would happen to your loved ones? The story is beautifully written in parts by Holly Miller and keeps you contemplating about fate and destiny. The characters are relatable and easy to empathise with. I really enjoyed this light hearted read and would recommend it to everyone who loves a unique love story. Until he goes to the cafe and meets Callie and then she falls in love with him but he tries very hard not to fall in love with her as he doesn’t want to dream about something happening to her
But we can’t stop our selves falling in love can we?

Every now and again you pick up a book and from the very first chapter you know you're going to love these characters and their story. The Sight of You was that kind of book for me.

Beautifully written and constructed, as the story developed I knew this book would soon have my eyes brimming with tears. It's been a long time since a book had tears streaming down my face but the ending of this is beautifully devastating!

Joel's character is wonderful. He is a man broken by his condition and pushes everyone who tries to get close to him away in the desperate hope to keep them safe. He is devoted to the people he loves and animals and tries so hard to protect everyone even at his own detriment. He doesn't want to fall in love and doesn't allow himself to get close enough to anyone just in case.

But when he meets Callie, she makes him question everything he wanted, everything he tried to avoid. She is a gorgeous character and I was cheering for her the whole way through.

This is a beautiful love story which I cannot recommend enough! You will fall in love and then have your heart broken... But it's worth every tear to read this gorgeous story!
