What a lovely idea for a story and it was delivered beautifully. This story should be held up as an example of a good romcom. It had lots of comedy, I definitely giggled out loud several times. Likeable characters and not too many of them to get to know. Lovely location setting that made me want to go seek out my own small town in South Africa. Then the romance and slightly hot scenes that occurred due to the clever build up between Becca & Mike. Then lots of little lessons along the way about life and love in general. Loved it.

This is the first Jo Watson book I’ve read but I doubt it will be the last. I liked the characters especially Becca who was slightly bonkers in honesty but certainly not dull, it was also great reading a book set in a less common location (South Africa) and I loved the way it referenced the start of apartheid and the issues it created and also contrasted it with other tales of prejudice. The two styles of writing, Becca’s story and the letters to and from Edith, were incomparable but both worked well for the purpose of the story. Overall this is a really fun read with some beautiful poignancy thrown in.

The plot is interesting. The writing style is also interesting however the voice of the author overpowers the voice of the protagonist, and it bothered me. Also too much usage of metaphors was a tad annoying. There are so many letters in the book I felt the letters could have been more intriguing.

Overall, for me, it was an average read.

When I saw Jo Watson had a new book it felt like Christmas. I first read one of Jo’s books around 3 years ago (Burning Moon) and loved her style of writing straight away. I have read every book since and haven’t read one that has disappointed. So, getting to read You, Me, Forever was a huge treat.

The first 15% of the book felt slow and I struggled to connect with the content. However, from this point on it was brilliant. Pebecca was a great character, so well written, funny and cringey! Mike was the perfect love interest. Their scenes together were well written and the chemistry was described in such realistic detail.

The storyline was great. I loved Edith and Abe’s story and found myself blubbering away at the injustice they faced. It’s heartbreaking that this is a true reflection of times gone by.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book. It had everything I look for in a story - great characters, funny, sad, sex and romance!

You, Me, Forever by Jo Watson a five-star of a forever read. It took me a little while to get into this story, but once I did the pages flew by, I fell in love with South Africa as well as with Perbecca and Edith as well as all of the other stories. This is a great story about history and love, the trials that some people face in everyday life and face with great honour and earnestness. It mixed so well with the two stories and the dilemmas each faced, this was a great romance, but it was also so much more. I will be looking for this author more and more as once I got into the writing, I found it so compelling.

Becca was honestly such an interesting character- she was compelling yet ditzy at times, and I liked that the book was written in a way that made it seem like she was talking directly to us. As the book progressed I became so invested in the couple's story, and I loved that the book revolved around their tragic yet sweet letters. Definitely a humerous and entertaining read.
I'm looking forward to reading more of Jo Watson's other works in the future!✨

First book by the author and was invited to take part in the blog tour for the books release. It was a nice light read- maybe a little too light for my liking. Funny in places and a perfect piece of escapism. Will he reading more by this author.

A lovely read which kept me entertained throughout the book .
Becca is a somewhat accidentprone author with writers block. Chasing a story, she ends up in a small town, meets the man of her dreams and makes her mark on the town. Of course love's young dream doesn't run smoothly .... and neither does writing her new best seller . The story is pretty believable and interesting , characters well described. Enough humour to keep the reader entertained without it becoming too predictable or silly and some serious issues such as family estrangement explored.
This is the first book I have read by Jo Watson, though I do have a couple reading and waiting on the e-reader so it will not be the last.

My Thoughts: this is going to be a really difficult book for me to review for the simple fact that I don’t want to spoil anything.

I loved Becca right from the beginning, she was ditzy but loveable, she was always getting herself into situations that made you laugh out loud and shake your head at the same time. I even found myself more than once saying out loud “what are you doing?!” Or “why would you do that?!” – I found myself eagerly awaiting the next fail moment!

I loved the fact that she was following the journey of the couple in the letters that she found to try and get to the bottom of what had happened to them, but unbeknownst to her she finds her self slap bang in the middle of the whole thing when she ends up spending time with people who are actually connected to the Lady mentioned in the letters, it’s then that this whole journey becomes more about finding the letters that she wrote and seeing if she can return them to the intended reader.

This story was heart wrenching and heart warming all at the same time, I had a lump in my throat for a lot of it from trying to hold back the tears, I was so invested that I was sad when it ended, but also pleased with the end result.

This is the first time I’ve read something by Jo Watson, but I honestly can’t wait to pick up more from her in the future.

Sitting her open mouthed in disbelief at just how wonderful this book is. It has all of Jo Watson's trademark humour, but also a secondary love story that is just beautiful and heartbreaking at the same time.

I loved the chatting style the story was written in, as though Becca was talking directly to you as she tells you her story. She explains that she is in trouble and about the various forks in her life that have led her to this point. We get in great detail the terrifying moment where there is a near death experience that ultimately is the catalyst for her changing her life.

And from the moment she visits a small town many hours away from Jo'burg, we see just what a disaster zone she really is. At times it felt like a complete comedy of errors and the local hunky policeman is just the person to witness everything, even if he is despairing of her at the same time.

I loved the interactions between Mike and Becca, but also well actually just everything about this story. I don't want to give too much away, but there is so much more to this book than first meets the eye and I relished reading every last word of it.

In some respects this felt like a subtle change of direction for my favourite South African author, but equally there is so much familiarity in the absurdity of some it that that comes across so believable that it really is only a slight change, as everything I've always enjoyed about Jo Watson is still there in spades!

A truly fabulous story, one that I fear may have given me a book hangover, as I've no idea how whatever I read next will even remotely stand a chance in my affections!!

Becca is running out of time to deliver her second novel. She has writers block and can't shift it. An incident in the elevator on the way to meet her publisher changes that, and soon she is heading across the country to find her story.

Great characters who draw you in to the story - I couldn't put it down and read it all in one go!
