Lieutenant Eve Dallas is a murder cop, and is uncompromising, deadly efficient and her own woman. A woman with a past she wants to forget. Set in mid 21st century New York, Eve is lead investigator on a high profile murder of a prostitute, grand daughter of a Senator, who wants to control the investigation. There are numerous suspects, including Roarke, an Irish billionaire.
This book is Eves first meeting with Roarke. After years of holding all her emotions in, he gets under her skin, and she doesn’t know if she likes it. Coupled with an ever increasing body count, someone trying to sabotage her investigation, Eve must find the killer before he kills again.
This is a nicely crafted book, with well rounded characters that you want to know more about. Twists and turns that keep you guessing right to the end. Add in the start of a beautiful romance, and you have a very easy to read book. There are 50 books in this series, and they’re well worth reading in order. The only problem is, as soon as you’ve finished, you want more

Eve and Roarke are one of fictions great couples. They seem opposite at first him with great wealth and looks. Eve with everyday looks and her commitment to her job as a Detective. She is always for the victim. You see them both in a future world which is fascinating to see what has survived from our current time. Coffee is still a number one fix for all occasions. This story jumps into the first violent murder scene from the first page and does not let up in intensity. You are drawn into this world with wonderful characters and do not wish to ever leave. I would recommend to find other books in this series to devour.
I was given an ARC of this book by Netgalley and the publisher in exchange for an honest review.
