Charlotte Aldridge is a talented artist putting on an art exhibition when Rupert approaches her after buying three of her paintings. He offers her a life changing amount of money to paint a portrait that he can proudly display. Little does she know; he's had his eye on her for several months; he’s convinced she’s the one for him whether she agrees or not. He’s wealthy, handsome and fit due to all the plastic surgery he’s undergone so he’s confident it will be a piece of cake. If she doesn’t agree, that's fine he has extreme yet productive methods taken from dear old dad and will stop at nothing to ensure she marries him.

You Are Mine is a fast paced sinister, dark, and twisted psychological thriller. I read this pretty quickly as the plot got better and better although, I can’t count the amount of times I rolled my eyes. The twist was pretty obvious which was disappointing, if there were less hints leading to it, it would have been pretty shocking; it was still pretty disturbing. I enjoyed the different POVs, it upped the creep factor which was entertaining. Overall, although not everything worked for me, I still liked the book.

Charlotte, a struggling artist, suddenly has much interest in her work from Rupert, a very rich man who commissions his portrait from her. The only catch is that she has to live in his large, empty mansion while she paints his portrait.

Very quickly Charlotte discovers that everything is not as it seems and Rupert has other plans for her.

This was a quick, fast paced psychological thriller that had a few cringe worthy moments. Despite the cringe worthy pieces (mostly written into the character of Rupert), I look forward to reading more by this author.

WOW, what a read! The plot was intense, powerful and thrilling and held me captive all the way through! The characters fairly leaped off the page, and the tension was palpable. If you are looking for a book that you just CAN’T put down, then this is DEFINITELY the book for you!

Three and a half star rating.
Rupert knows exactly the kind of person he wants to marry and unfortunately for Charlotte she fits the bill exactly, nor is he the type of man who will take no for an answer. Loved the way it was written and very easy to read although a bit on the predictable side. It was engrossing, entertaining and funny (especially Percy!) and if nothing else should remind people to use a bit of common sense, unlike silly Charlotte! Looking forward to the next book by this author.

I have to admit I didn't really like it, although if this seems like a book for you, it is a pretty quick read and not too difficult.

Rupert is a rich, handsome, member of the gentry, Charlotte is a broke, grieving, beautiful artist. Could her visit to his country estate to paint his portrait end in wedding bells? It will if Rupert has anything to say about it.

Overall, I think You did this better, getting in the head of a horrible man and how he thinks about the object of his obsession. It was a decent choice here to change viewpoints so we aren't fully stuck in Rupert's thoughts, but while Charlotte was a decent break from that, I still didn't particularly like her. (Yes, in real life, it makes sense that she would be grieving this hard after only six months or so, and anyway me not liking her doesn't mean she deserves Rupert's torture, but IN FICTION I found her difficult to really root for.) Adding a third viewpoint in present day for just a quick chapter or two near the end was necessary, but did muddy the narrative some.

I was hoping for a little more of what the back of the book teased at, that Rupert has had all this plastic surgery and thinks he has made himself the perfect man. As it was, I could see all the reveals coming (not always a bad thing, often it just means the author did foreshadowing well) so I didn't have a lot of fun or wonder to pull me through the narrative of torture and fear. The idea that the village loves Rupert wasn't used enough, that could have been some real menace and gave him power that he otherwise lacked. Since we are in his head, we know how delusional he is (and I did like that, he's no mastermind and his arrogance leads him to be fooled pretty easily) and it took away from some of my belief that he could ever win. The [rat - spider thing (hide spoiler)] was a bit more cartoonish than scary.

Typical phycological thriller. Lots of twists and turns. Nothing exceptional stood out about the book. Rupert was crazy and Charlotte's determination was admirable.

I received this ARC from NetGalley in exchange for my honest review. I absolutely loved this book same as the others I have read from the author!! 5 stars all the way

A tale of dark intentions with enough suspense to keep one interested in learning the outcome, and a page turning exercise to discover the fates of our protagonist and his victim! A bit far fetched in places but nevertheless an enjoyable read. I would like to thank Netgalley and the Publishers for the opportunity of reading this ARC.

This book was such an enjoyable read, what a page turner it was.. I was hooked all the way through. This is what I call a proper psychological thriller. It was creepy and intense just what I love to read. The characters were very interesting, the plot was amazing, the setting was great and the style of writing was excellent and easy to get into. Plenty of twists and turns throughout, and the ending was unexpected. I have read 2 books by this author now.. this one and ‘deserve to die’ the both of them I love. I am looking forward to the next book out, as I’m a fan of this author. I would recommend this to anyone to likes to read this genre.

This book has your typical kidnapped/Stockholm syndrome subject and I just really didn't find it keeping my attention, regretfully. I've read several books with this theme and frankly, I've seen it done better. I only read to the 63% point and flounced. There's just too many books out there for me to keep reading one I'm not enjoying, but I do want to say Thank you to netgalley for giving me the advanced PDF so that I can share my opinions with y'all. Tootles!

This was entertaining. I love thrillers but sometimes that are so intense and when my anxiety gets the best of me I just can't seem to read anything remotely angsty but this is a thriller that it's not that serious, the situations are pretty over the top and the characters here are not so well drawn. I was rooting for the villain here and the heroine was a little bit annoying for me. Sometimes some characters say something and after some chapters they contradict themselves. It was a fast and fun read but nothing to serious or has nothing that we have seen before. I'm definitely reading more from this author in the future when I feel.that I can't handle angsty thrillers.

You Are Mine was creepy psychological thriller that had creepiest villain I ever read. It was about loveless and emotionless upbringing and its psychological effect, how it shapes a person, mindset of psychopath and mainly about limerence- extreme love obsession.

Writing was fantastic, gripping and fast paced. Setting of old mansion in Sussex with its vast property, hall of pictures, ball room and punishment room made the book even more unnerving. Book was mainly set in present narrated both from Rupert and Charlotte’s POV, alternatively. There were intermittent chapters from the past that gave the picture of Rupert’s childhood, his family and upbringing and how the characters in this chapters were directly or indirectly responsible for what was happening in present.

Book started with Charlotte’s art exhibition, pictures she created six month before the tragedy in her life, but she was distant far away from happiness. She was still grieving for her fiancé. Her inspiration died with him, she struggled to paint and maintain economical condition. Surprisingly, on the first day of exhibition she met aristocratic man, Sir Rupert, who offered her huge amount for painting his portrait staying at his mansion. Charlotte had to accept the offer to pay her debts even though she had her doubts and felt uncomfortable. But she couldn’t have guessed what she was getting into by accepting the offer.

I was curious to see when and how Charlotte will see through Rupert and his intentions, why he chose Charlotte and what methods he was going to use that was mentioned in that synopsis, If Charlotte will escape this psychopath or succumb to his persuasion.

First half of the book outlined the characters. Charlotte was decent character. She was physically week mentally broken because of her fiancé- Matthew’s death. She was normal girl with good looks, simple life and great talent, she couldn’t get into any sort of trouble until Rupert stepped on her life. I was glad for her sixth sense, I just wish she would have reacted to it earlier but I know that wouldn’t have stopped Rupert, would it? Her resilience and determination to fight Rupert was great but she was not strong enough. Of course she had a chance but she was too polite and wasted to grab it. And that dragged her into nightmare.

I loved Charlotte’s sister Jodi and their sisterly bond, the role she played. She was utterly brave and strong person.

Author has knack for creating hell of twisted and demented psychopath. Rupert was one horrible character. He was self-centered, materialistic, typical aristocrat who thought he could buy everything with his money, even love. His character showed how far a person monster can stoop to get what he want. I had to agree he had troubled childhood, I didn’t approve the way he was treated at school or at home. He clearly needed guidance with love and care and of course a psychiatrist. No matter how sorry I felt for 15-yr-old Rupert, I hated him as much. He never understood no or what true meaning of love was.

I definitely held all the characters in his life (his father, even that cook, and partly Simone – she might be a bitch but she was clear from the very beginning and I agreed with her views) responsible for creating this psycho and letting him roam free. He didn’t deserve pity or a chance or the impression people had in their mind. Oh hell he didn’t deserve to breathe one molecule of oxygen. You see he made me so angry. I was so shocked, horrified and disgusted reading his POV. But I must say he was smart and brilliant in the book.

Now I could predict what he did to get Charlotte and why, some in the beginning and some within first half. There was no big suspense and still I couldn’t have guessed what happened in the second half. I thought first half was scary but my goodness, the second was epitome of scary. I lost the count how many times I cursed while reading it. The methods he used and what he did to her was dreadful.

Climax was tense and tragic. I wish I could change it. End was great. After reading this book I so wished I can cast some magic on my daughter that can ward off psychos of the world.

Overall, it was dark twisted, riveting psychological thriller. I highly recommend this to fans of this genre.

Not good, not bad either. Or maybe I just read a lot of similar kind of books lately. Therefore, You Are Mine seemed just “meh”, even if I don’t really find anything specific to criticize.

Charlotte is a painter. Financially broke, with her heart shattered and not much to look forward to the future, she reluctantly accepts an offer from a young millionaire to move to his house for a few weeks and paint his portrait. But Rupert’s plan is not as innocent as it looks.

You Are Mine is yet another story about obsession, trauma, ignored sickness and mistakes that piled up until things explode. What seemed to be like an advantageous vacation will turn into a nightmare for Charlotte.

The story is entertaining, especially since the POV changes between the two main characters so readers will get a full view and see each fact from a completely different angle. Which is truly impressive and scary in the same time, because any small, innocent detail can be the trigger for a potential disaster. It starts slowly, but once the things are put in motion, they’re cascading with an unstoppable force. Just like Charlotte, the reader won’t even have time to prepare itself for the course of unexpected turns that follows.

Although not memorable, both Charlotte and Rupert’s roles are well written and realistic, not in white and black but in a complex palette of colors, with good and bad parts. And the most engrossing part comes in the end, when all the events that you knew from the beginning and that didn’t even seem intriguing will start to be connected in a very sick way.

You Are Mine will definitely keep you up at nights when all you wish for is an absorbing psychological thriller. It might be a great choice for a reader who’s just starting to explore this genre, but it won’t bring a lot to the veterans who are devouring this type of books.
