The House at Silvermoor by Tracy Rees, is a rags to riches story that is in a similar vein to Catherine Cookson.
The two main character's Josie and Tommy, both come from mining families in Yorkshire and yet they are both united in their belief and ambition to make a better life for themselves, by making a living outside of the mining community.
Soon the two friends become separated, as their lives take different paths. There is also growing resentment with the miners to do with their poor pay and atrocious conditions of work.
The author Tracy Rees has put a lot of research into the lives of the mining community, but i did find it a little slow in places. However this is a well written novel, as are all of Tracy's previous books.

This was an interesting read following the lives of our two main characters. It focuses on the mining community and all that entails. I enjoyed the description and it really allowed me to picture the horror and hardship.

Sweet story of the hard lives miners live.Sweet because of the romance between Josie and Tommy.They live in mining communities and have to start working in the mines at a young age.Through a strange twist of circumstances they get involved with the mining families and stories unfold.
Very indepth details of mining and village life.Lots of unexpected twists and turn.I truly enjoyed this book.

This was my first book by this author, It was pretty enjoyable. I would give this book a 3.5 star rating! It was a pretty Quick and easy read!

It cleverly depicts the living conditions of that era as well as the working conditions and hazards of working down the mines made all the more powerful when compared to the houses and lives of their employers, the aristocratic families who own the mines and their lives, full of comforts and wealths unlike anything the villagers have ever known.It depicts the lines between the social classes as both Tommys and Josie’s lives collide with that of their rich employers and instantly creates an emotional attachment to them both.

Tommy has never wanted to work down the mines, since his early schooling, learning has been what he wants to do with his life, he wants something more than every other man in their villages, a better standard of living but all of that is just a dream. Until a chance encounter with a rather unique stranger.

This book is full of everything you could ever want from a historical romance, full of emotion, ups and downs as well as some unexpected turns of events, it is a real page turner of a book.

If you enjoyed her previous books then you will not be disappointed with this one and if you are new to her books then this will have you rushing off to read her other books, all of which are impossible not to fall in love with.
