The story was rather disappointing. I didn’t have any particular expectations when I started it but I just couldn’t like.
I probably missed also the “laugh-out- loud” parts of the story.
I didn’t like most of the characters, especially Sloane (the main character and the one telling the story), I just couldn’t.
It was probably going to be a 1 star book for me if it weren’t for Vivienne, that one I really liked and felt sorry for her and sympathized with her the whole time.

Sorry I had to say this but I don't find anything humorous. Goshh It was a pretty depressing story for me.

I felt frustrated with Sloane at how long it took her to leave that piece of shit and I was like come on girl~ DO IT!

The last few chapters are my favorite and I need more of it. Btw I skipped some parts because it started off pretty slow and I saw few mistakes such as page 142 ' *What* aren't you answering your phone?'

This book is definitely a woman's journey to re-find herself after an epic failed marriage. Funny at times but not sure I would consider this a romantic comedy, unless I missed something along the read. Great story and an assortment of characters that should definitely be considered getting their own story.

No, We Can’t Be Friends by Sophie Ranald is another book by Bookouture that makes me glad that I am single. Plus, a reminder of why I am not so trusting of men! That being said I get so into these books. So much so you may find me yelling at my book because I got so mad at the one character. There are some things you just don’t say behind your wife’s back!!

This was one cover that has been different than most of Bookouture’s covers. It was cartoonish and very cute. It represented the theme of the book well. Not to mention the title of the book cracked me up. These two features caught my eye at first then the synopsis hooked me. So, congrats to the graphic designers.

No, We Can’t Be Friends cracked me up from the very beginning of this book!! I could not stop laughing! Throughout the book she threw some other comical bits into the mix. I loved how she mentioned Joey, Monica and Chandler. Plus, she even mentioned that Slone used Tinder (she is the first author I read to use this in her book).

This book had one main storyline that revolved around the marriage of Slone and Myles. This one had a lot of ups and downs with a lot of betrayals. This was the storyline I mentioned earlier that I yelled at him! He was not my favorite character in this book! My heart went out to Slone many times during this book!

One story that pulled on my heart strings was the one between Slone and her Mom. It was not like most relationships you read about. I could tell by reading this part that the author was passionate about this storyline. She drew out so many difficult emotions in both Slone, the mother, and her father.

I have a few of Sophie's books on my TBR pile but this is the first one I have read. I'll tell you now, it will not be my last!

This book follows Sloane as her marriage falls apart. We hear about Sloane's life before her marriage which sounds super fun but I imagine after a while it was also quite draining. When Sophie finds Myles she thinks she has found her happily ever after. Sadly life doesn't turn out the way she expected. Sloane was at times infuriating but it's always easier to see things from the outside. I really liked Sloane and as the book progressed I was more and more proud of her.

Sophie writes characters that are relatable and lovable. Not only do I love Sloane there's also Vivane and Ruby-Grace. These two characters are very different but I was rooting for them both.

This book deals with some serious issues but will also make you laugh. There were times when I just wanted to hug some of the characters and then there were times when I was laughing along with them. This is a great read if you need a boost and some laughs. I'm looking forward to reading more of Sophie's books.

This started off really slow which is why I only gave it three stars. Once I hit 70% in, it rolled along smoothly. The last 30% of the book was as sweet as can be and I loved it. The issue I found with this book is that there wasn't enough of a strong build up to the climax, and there was so much focus on her job, and not enough on the situation with Sloane's husband which is what the book was about. I think the story just needed to be put together a little better. I would recommend this to people because even though it was a slow brewer for me, I don’t think it would be for other people.

You know sometimes after you have been watching a bunch of documentaries and reading the news, you feel like something a bit more light and fun? A little romcom, or some reality tv to just take a little break? This book was my little break.

Easy to read, with likable characters, this book will be perfect for snuggling in bed (or in a warm bath) and reading...or lounging poolside during the summer. I know that people will enjoy this book!

After reading so many books by the likes of Colleen Hoover, Sarah J Maas, Tarryn Fisher, Kennedy Fox and Piper Rayne just name a few.. I’ve kind of grown used to reading about amazingly strong women. I’ve grown used to seeing these women doing everything in their power to not let a man hurt them and when they fall in love, to be in equal standing with their partner. This book, I have to say.. it didn’t bode well with me at first. Sloane and her husband Myles were seemingly the perfect couple and marriage but with Myles being a selfish narcissist it was obvious this book wasn’t going to end with their happily ever after. After discovering that Myles wasn’t completely faithful to her, Sloane goes back and forth with the idea of forgiving him which although it kind of annoyed me, in the end I understood that though she was a self-sufficient woman who was a partner in her business she had a lot of growing up to do still.

Sloane took longer than I’m used to in order to grow as a character but once she realized that her marriage ending didn’t have to mean her being alone. The friends and family we make along the way are what help us grow to understand that even though we may not have a Prince Charming enter our lives, we don’t have to necessarily be alone.

This book was a lot about personal growth and growing into our own as women. Throw in a couple of good friends, a kitten and the idea of female solidarity and it all leads to a humorous not so romantic comedy.

This is my first book by Ranald and it did not disappoint.

Good old chick-lit mixed with some very current issues including infertility, infidelity, mental health, and being in the public eye.

Ranald writes with such an attractive tone. It makes you want to keep reading. Though the story is not enchanting per say, her story telling is and that in and of itself is good enough. It’s like YA for adults. Only this time you can indulge without being shamed (not like that stops me from reading YA)

As a Canadian who also loves all things England, I loved the connection this book had to Canada.

Definitely a good read. Perfect for a commute, the beach, something to read while also reading something a little more intense, or something quick to pull you out of a reading slump.

OK first of all, this book was a decent attempt at a chick-lit/woman's fiction-esque novel. However, the description of "laugh out loud funny"?? Not even close. I don't think I so much as chuckled while reading this. There were so many NOT funny moments, such as miscarriage, cheating, a marriage falling apart, and in between was a story that yes, entertained me, but was not amusing.

As far as the story/plot, it was definitely interesting. I enjoyed the plot lines about Sloane's work, and the bits about her friendship with her partner at work. I think the whole book could have been about that and I would have loved it!

Character wise, I liked Sloane but Myles could just go the heck away. Why did it take so freaking long for her to realize he was having an affair? Or HAD an affair?? The second she found those texts, and the MILLISECOND he started gaslighting her, she should have left and not looked back. That really bothered me. If the author's intent was to make us really not like him, then she definitely succeeded.

I wanted to like this book more than I did, but it just didn't do it for me.

This book was a great read, Sophie Ranalds writing flows so well, there is hard life subject matter but she delivers it with great comic relief.
This is the story of Sloane and Myles, a young and successful married couple who are thinking of starting a family of their own but Sloane is about to be blindsided, and it is a story of how she deals with the changes her life is facing.

I was really liking this read but once I hit the 75% mark I went from like to love. I highly recommend this book and look forward to reading more of Sophie’s work.

I’ve read several books by Sophie Ranald now, and she is a fabulous writer. That being said, this book is toted as a laugh out loud romantic comedy, which isn’t necessarily the case. There are some moments, but there are also some pretty heavy topics covered in here as well. Ranald does a great job of tackling tough subjects and not filling books with simple fluff.

Sloan was happy to finally have met Mr. Right after meeting Myles online. They married and she relocated from London to New York to be with him. Little did she know, instead of welcoming a baby and starting a family (which was her idea of marriage), Myles’ idea of marriage was having someone be his maid and errand runner. One day Sloane learns a secret about Myles that leaves her utterly devastated and their marriage in pieces. Now Sloane has to remember how to love herself if she’s ever going to move forward.

One of the best things about this book was how completely relatable Sloane was. I definitely have found myself in several of her situations, so I couldn’t help but root for her to find her way back to herself in spite of her crappy ex-husband. Sloane’s relationship with her friends and co-workers was also a testament to how resilient Sloane was. Rather than shut these people out of her life once hers fell apart, she was still present in their lives, which I found really admirable.

Sloane and Myles have split up - he is an odd character accepting no responsibility for what is happening to them. If you have read the previous book you already know he is not to be trusted.

I found that this was an easy going fun read. I enjoyed reading the story of Sloane and her growth from love to heart break to love again. However I was a little let down in this read. I was expecting more sassyness and humor for being a rom-com. I did enjoy the book but I wouldn't say I'm going to run out and tell all my girlfriends to buy or pre order but I would definitely tell them to put on there library list.

I give this book 4 stars. Although it was not a laugh-out-loud romantic comedy like it was marketed, (I'm kind of disappointed about that) it was still a great book. A well written contemporary fiction with likable characters! I definitely recommend it!

Sophie Ranald books are some of my favorite quick reads. They're great for a reset from long dramas or books on heavy hitting topics. They're kind of a cross between rom-com and dramas. There's usually a romance component but the main character and supporting characters are dealing with real problems in real ways. I like that the romance isn't always central to the character's life and development as a person. The character development for the minor characters is just as compelling as the storyline for the main character.

I love how characters from previous books were also mentioned in minor ways. It made me want to go back and read all the author's books again to see how the stories are enmeshed.

My only complaint for this book is that the title and description didn't match the book very well. They basically gave away the whole plot line as it took two thirds of the book to get to what we already knew from the back cover. Then it rushed through the actual real plot. The story was still worth hanging in and reading though. This is what kept it from being 4 🌟 for me.

This was a fun book about a woman named Sloane whose marriage isn't in the greatest place. She thinks trying for a baby will help, but soon she finds out that her and her husband aren't on the same page. I loved Sloane, she was hilarious, and so were all of her friends and coworkers at the awesome talent agency she worked at. I also loved the really sweet ending. Definitely recommend this book!

I couldn't put the book down but honestly not because I enjoyed it. The characters were unlikeable it's so frustrating. Myles was a douchebag, not to mention the fact that he was more mad at her wife invading his privacy when he got caught cheating. Worst was, I don't think he even felt bad about it. While I completely feel for Sloane throughout the story and feel like she was completely & unfairly wronged, there were moments I still had a difficult time sympathizing with her. Especially when she turned a blind eye about how toxic her relationship was and allowing Myles to gaslight her at the start. I felt empathy, I felt anger, I felt rage while reading this book. For evoking these feelings, I would say the author sure writes well and knows how to pull you into a story. However, I don't really see this as a Laugh-At-Loud Romantic Comedy. The subject matter itself was too sad for me to enjoy. Infidelity is not something I enjoy reading about.

I found myself rather bored of this book. I ended up not finishing the very end because I wanted to move on to something else that would keep my attention. I’m sorry.
