Wow, Cressida is quickly becoming one of my favourite authors. The Cornish Cream Tea Summer follows the adventures of Gertie The Cornish Cream Tea Bus in the sleepy Cornish picture postcard village of Porthgolow.
Charlie and Delilah were cousins. Charlie was a couple of years older than Lila.
Lila had just lost her job and her best friend at the same time. London wasn’t looking as good as it usually did, what had she to lose by spending a bit of time in Cornwall with her cousin. Ok she hadn’t arranged the visit to Charlie but she was hoping for a warm welcome.
Join them on their new adventures, you won’t be disappointed in this wonderful book.

I absolutely loved this book. I was trying to read it whilst going through a really difficult time in my life, and boy did it help me through. Its an absolutely delightful story and it has it all, cream teas, cute dogs,a quirky bus, gorgeous sounding locations and above all wonderful, lovable characters. This book oozes charm and fun. An absolute must read.

I was so excited to read the next book about Geryie the cream tea bus in this new adventure, and I wasn't disappointed. I instantly warmed to the new character Lila, Charlie's cousin, full of chaos but with the biggest heart. I loved the story, set around the actors on a film set in Cornwall, just magical. I struggled to put this down, a real page Turner. As well as the new characters, it was grsat to catch up with previous character like Charlie, Daniel and the other villagers and catch up on their lives. Fabulous read.....

This is the first book from Cressida that I have read and assume that there is at least one before this one in a series, but I wasn’t disappointed. Set on bus that does cream tea tours around the Cornish countryside, Delilah lands an accident a role in a TV series that her bus has been asked to provide the catering for. Won’t tell you anymore as it will spoil it for you, but you won’t be disappointed ! I’m definately looking for other books by Cressida, Thankyou so much....... I’m off for a cream tea now!

I love the author Cressida McLaughlin and really enjoyed the Cornish Cream Tea Bus earlier in the year. This story follows on when cousin Lila comes to Cornwall to stay. I didn't enjoy it as much as the first, mostly because I found it hard to take to Lila initially, but it is still a nice easy summer read.

The Cornish Cream Tea Summer is the sequel to The Cornish Cream Tea Bus, only this time, the story follows Charlie’s cousin Lila, who escapes London, to Cornwall after failing spectacularly at her job, causing her best friend Clara to end their friendship.

Lila is a free spirit, who jumps in guns a-blazing without thinking through the consequences of checking first. Desperate to learn from her mistakes, she then proceeds to set up a business deal for her cousin’s bus to become an extra food supplier for a visiting TV show filming in Cornwall.

Cressida McLaughlin has created a heartwarming novel with a splash of romance to escape into. I truly hope she continues to write about this world. I really wish I could sit in Gertie for a cream tea in Cornwall.

One thing I also loved was the relationship with Charlie and Lila; close and supportive. I was glad to see the author didn’t fall into the trap of having them at odds with each other, or have Lila make mistakes constantly and get on Charlie’s nerves. Instead Charlie listened to Lila and supported her.

This book should come with a warning: you’ll drool as you read descriptions of cream tea and the various baked treats made by the characters.

You don’t have to have read the first book (I haven’t) to be able to enjoy this one, though I will certainly purchase it now. Thank you Netgalley and HarperCollins for this wonderful escape.

A brilliant escapist rom-com that made me smile and feel good.
I love Ms McLaughlin's book and I loved this one.
It's engrossing, entertaining, full of mouthwatering scenes, with a cast of likeable characters and a lovely setting.
Highly recommended.
Many thanks to the publisher and Netgalley for this ARC, all opinions are mine.

My only criticism of this book is the cover which shows a pretty, vintage bus on the beach, except that Gertie the bus is a double decker, there are numerous scenes of people going upstairs!
This was a great summer read, with Cornish beaches, cream teas, cousins, movie sets, film crews, hot tubs and many more cream teas and a cute dog- what’s not to enjoy. I had not read the original book and look forward to reading that now and discovering more cream tea antics.

Thank you for the opportunity to read this book.

After enjoying the Cornish Cream Tea Bus I wasn't disappointed by this book.

Lila rocks up unannounced to visit her cousin Charlie in Cornwall. She's soon stuck into local life and causing havoc.

An enjoyable read which I'd recommend.

Lila is Charlie's cousin who surprises her by turning up out of the blue after a disaster in London with her best friend and job.

It safe to say drama follows Lila as an opportunity for the Cream Tea Bus to work with a BBC production arises and Lila is eager practically signing them up before asking Charlie properly!

As Lila gets to grips working the bus, brushing shoulders with tv stars and many guys Lila wonders of maybe Cornwall can serve her life well like it has leading Charlie to Daniel and then they drop a huge bombshell on her, can she cope as she gets left to look after the bus for a while?while

Lila also grows close to actor Sam and soon they're falling for each other as lives look set to separate in a permanent way can they figure out a way to stay together?

This series is one of my favourite ever discoveries and seeing Lila arrive and enjoy the area, uniqueness of the bus and the chance to be part of a filming set is great fun to read. If you enjoy Cornwall, food or baking and love stories this is a book for you a magical read I wish I could wander into myself and live in!

Many thanks to the publishers for allowing me to review this book for them!

When my copy of The Cornish Cream Tea Summer pinged it’s way onto my kindle I had a grin like a Cheshire Cat on my face at the thought of returning to Gertie and her delights in the luring setting of Porthgolow

Lila has caused a whirlwind of disaster with nothing keeping her in London her mum suggests she takes some time out and goes to spend some time with her cousin Charlie in Porthgolo
Not one to sit around Lila gets involved ( maybe a little too involved) in helping Charlie on the unique bus of delights and lands Gertie a new job on a production set.

Oh this novel was all I hoped for and more. It was like revisiting a much loved holiday destination and reuniting with friends rather than looking back at a novel. There is something about that Cream Tea Bus that has just got me hook, line and sinker! I loved that Charlie and Gertie were still a big part of this storyline rather than just a mere glimpse at how they are doing, as well as many of the memorable locals like lovable little Jonah making an appearance. Lila was a flawed character who unintentionally seemed to cause problems but yet I loved her character and at times I just wanted to shake her.

I’m not one who enjoys novels set around actors, actresses and film sets as I don’t find the razzmatazz of it all enjoyable to read but I have to say this storyline worked well, it is helped by the fact all the actors seemed down to Earth with not all the diva attitude going on.

This book needs to come with a big red warning, because not only are the mouthwatering cream teas going to get you drooling but there are so many other delicious delights to tease us from raspberry doughnuts to passion fruit cheese cakes and all washed down with an array of signature coffees I think I consumed a years worth of calories just through touching the pages!

I can not recommend this book enough if you are looking for an upbeat cheery read of new beginnings, romance and diet sabotage! I really hope we will be revisiting the Cream Tea Bus in another book because it has become my new addiction.

What an amazing book to escape into. The stunning views and scenery are brought to life perfectly.

I loved visiting Charlie and Daniel again and meeting Lila and Sam and the film crew was amazing. Lila was a very real and honest character and I felt I could identify with her, even the happiest and strongest looking people can easily have their confidence shaken and need a helping hand back. Sam was the perfect leading man and I loved how he balanced Lila. Seeing Gertie again was great and loved all the changes and additions added along the way. This is a brilliant book and I really hope there will be more.

Many thanks to Netgalley and HarperCollins UK for this book. This is essentially all four of the Cornish cream tea summer series in one volume, and this time the central character is Charlie's cousin Lila. The story is light, easy to read and enjoyable, although I preferred the Cornish cream tea bus series.

Lila's life takes an unexpected turn for the worse and she needs to leave London ASAP. She decides with a bit of pushing from her mum telling her all about how successful her cousin Charlie is doing in Cornwall, she will go and visit her. When she arrives Charlie is a little taken aback but welcomes Lila and invites her to stay with her.. Charlie offers her a few hours work on Gertie the bus, whilst reluctant at first she begins to enjoy herself. However Lila tends to open her mouth about stuff before thinking it through.
Winston a customer opens up a new avenue for them all by inviting them to be a catering bus on a new drama programme. Lilas life takes on a lot of new exciting experiences, some of which she would never of imagined in her wildest dreams. It’s a book which explores relationships, friends, love, hate and lots of laughs. I really enjoyed getting to know all the characters and reading about how beautiful Cornwall is.

When Lila arrives in Porthgolow she has lost her job and has fallen out with her best friend. She is visiting her cousin Charlie who runs Gertie the Cream Tea bus. Lila soon falls in love with the place, the bus and Charlie’s adorable puppy. When left alone to serve on the bus she agrees to the bus being part of the catering set up on a TV Period drama being filmed locally.

Lila is a likeable character who finds friendship with the actors taking part. The scenery and the food served on the bus all add to the story As well as the involvement with the filming of the Drama

An easy summer read to transport you to the village of Porthgolow.

Charlie’s free-spirited cousin, Delilah, has arrived in Porthgolow and is determined to lend a hand on Gertie, the cream tea bus.

When Delilah is left at the helm one day, and the Director of a new TV series being filmed in Cornwall comes aboard claiming Gertie would be the perfect addition to the set’s onsite catering, Delilah and Charlie find themselves swept up in the filming of the lavish period drama.

It isn’t long before Delilah finds herself drawn to the handsome male lead, but making rash decisions is a bad habit Lila’s trying to break. Will this be one impulsive decision too far, or a step in the right direction?

It is so wonderful to be back aboard Gertie, the cream tea bus, and touring the sensational sights of my home county, Cornwall. As I’ve said before, and in my review for the previous book in this series, I love how McLaughlin portrays Cornwall. It might be because I live locally and therefore know the area well, but it really adds to my enjoyment that she uses real places alongside the fictional Porthgolow. The beautifully written descriptions of the scenery really brings the story to life, and I’m sure will inspire a few people to visit.

When I began reading, I wasn’t too sure how I felt about Lila but after only a few chapters I found myself embracing her haphazard approach to life and really rooting for her. I think her character development was handled very subtly, but her growth was tangible throughout.

With the new instalment comes a new set of characters, this time in the form of the TV cast and crew. Although, not all of them had a huge part to play in the main storyline, each added a certain sparkle. I especially liked Bert, the true thespian and old-hand actor, as he provided some comedy through his experience and witty one-liners.

However, the real reason I have such a fondness for series’ in this genre is the returning to past characters, like revisiting old friends. This one includes a particularly eclectic set of personalties, and some of the villagers really crack me up, especially Myrtle with her busybody ways and cutting comments.

Although this book would work perfectly well as a stand alone, I would highly recommend starting at the beginning. This is an effortlessly enjoyable read, full of relatable characters and delicious descriptions that will have you packing up the car and heading for Cornwall, and I couldn’t be more excited to find out what adventures are in store for Gertie at Christmas.

I've not read anything by Cressida McLaughlin before this, so though it appears to be part of a series I had no problems in enjoying it as a standalone.

Charlie and her converted bus Gertie welcome cousin Delilah (Lila) to Cornwall after a series of mishaps mean she has lost her job in London and at the same time had a major falling out with her best friend.

Escaping to the south she winds up helping Charlie run Gertie, the Cream Tea bus and when left alone for the first time finds herself accepting the offer of taking Gertie to be part of the catering on the set of a new major BBC TV show.

As this is clearly a cosy summery romance it's not spoil to say that Lila soon finds herself falling for one of the actors, and making friends with everyone else because thats just the warm and bubbly type of person she is.

Overall while not a particularly hard to fathom plot I enjoyed this, Lila felt real and Charlie and her boyfriend were nicely rounded characters (I assume who's story features in the previous book). I look forward to encountering Charlie, Lila and Gertie on their future adventures in Cornwall.

It's lovely to be back with Charlie and her Cornish Cream Tea Bus. This time her cousin Lila is running from her imploded life in London. Charlie and Lila are close but have very different personalities. Impulsive Lila soon ruffles Charlie's organised life with the best of intentions. A contract with a film company on location challenges Lila's career plans and her emotional future. Meeting the actors and film crew engages Lila and draws her into a glamorous world. It has an intrinsic interest and is so enjoyable for the reader too.

The romance between Lila and Sam is lovely understated but powerful. It tugs on the heartstrings when circumstances and misunderstandings pull them apart. There are some sublimely romantic scenes balanced with many equally humorous ones. The best friend drama is an added conflict. I have to admit I am firmly in Team Lila who undergoes significant positive character development in this story.

The beautiful setting believable characters and engaging plot make this an enjoyable, effortless read.

I received a copy of this book from Harper Collins UK -Harper Fiction via NetGalley in return for an honest review.
