This book was chosen for morning baskets with my students. The children loved it so much that our usual time for morning baskets ran over time on more than one occasion. This book is an exciting addition to our class. It has several puzzles that uses matching pictures, counting, following directs, code-breaking and other skills to solve said puzzles. There's even hints to help the children, as well as a "toolkit" in the back. The illustrations were gorgeous and engaging as well. There's honestly nothing I didn't like about this book - except that it ended a little too soon for us!

I read as much of this as I could on the phone. I stopped reading it about half way in because I want to buy it so I can do the puzzles! I am a huge escape game fan and can’t wait to get t hands on this and figure them all out!! An amazing book for all ages but especially for kids! I feel like they need this kind of thing more because they are learning but having fun at the same time!! I loved it!! Cannot wait to own it!

This is a really good way to interakt with your children and have also fun.
We are at home right now like everybody else and finding things to do is not always Easy.
My oldest is 10 and my youngest is 7 and with a little help they can do this together.

Is is exciting and you do not watch TV all the time.

So thanks for letting me test this Book.

Thank you, Netgalley, for s complementary copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.

Disclaimer: I cannot comment on easy handling since my ARC just included the text, it was not fully functional.

But what I was able to check out/read was great. I love the additional information, e.g., about lasers, viruses, and drones. Some puzzles were easy, while I believe that younger readers will definitely need the hints or even guidance by adults or older siblings to figure them out. I like the different colors to guide the reader to either puzzle sections or the hint pages. I think this is a fun read for older kids or for younger kids with help.

How fun was this book! Definitely designed for a single use experience (readers are encouraged to solve problems by writing in the book), I am going to be giving this book as a gift to upper elementary and lower middle school age students. 4th-6th grade would be my ideal range because some of the problems require more advanced skills. I would love to see this in small groups, and it could be used for slightly younger kids if it will be a group effort. The ease of self checking is fantastic, although to challenge kids, just cut those pages out and give them to an adult instead. This is a great idea for a book! I imagine it would be great fun on a long car ride.

As Libraries merge with STEM labs/Makerspaces this book is a perfect fit for either. By staying relevant with a concept children already know about the instructions won't take long. This book could be used with a whole classroom, small groups, or individual students. A great way to get children excited about thinking outside of the box. I can't wait to see more books like this.

This activity book is a fun take on an escape room adventure. With cutouts in the back and different types of puzzles to solve, this will definitely keep a kid busy for a while.

This is likely a single use book since there are cutouts on the back that could get lost and render the puzzles within impossible to solve. I'm not sure if the single use and price line up exactly to where I would pay for this particular book. If it was priced closer to $5 I would be more likely to pick it up.

My son, 6, like the concept and art work. It was bold and friendly which complemented the story line. I think the most interesting part of the book was the facts that accompanied each of the puzzles.

When going through the puzzles myself, I found that the one was impossible to solve and we just used the solutions to move forward. This book does not translate into a digital format at all!

This book offers plenty of puzzles to solve, framed by a sound storyline and bright illustrations that kids will surely appreciate.
My only concern regards the puzzle difficulty level that can affect the overall experience fun: some of them are really easy to solve, while others may be too intricate (at least for the youngest readers).

The Escape Game Adventure book is a fun puzzle to solve. The story is intriguing and the graphics are perfect for kids. As you have to cut out items in the back of the book to solve the puzzles this would probably only be a one time use book but it is worth the one time.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for a ACR of this book. The opinions above are all my own.

Escape Game Adventure: The Mad Hacker by Melanie Vives and Remi Prieur is adventureous, fun and educational all in one. This book is a fun escape Game for a single player or group and can be played at different experience levels. This book is filled with so many puzzles and tasks its sure to keep the reader on their seat and ready for the next mission. This would make a wonderful gift for any child or would be good to use in a classroom setting. I highly recommend this book!

A great fun book to use together with friends and family.
The friendly robot leads us through the colourful pages, in which we must complete various types of puzzles before being able to escape!
It's an addictive adventure with great illustrations on the theme of technology and science, with challenges to test different parts of the brain including visual, logic, problem solving etc. I think kids would enjoy doing the challenges with (or against) friends or siblings, or a parent, and racing to see who can figure it out first.
I don't know if this is a book you would come back to again and again that often since once you get the answer it is likely to be a bit boring, but it could be passed on to other friends and enjoyed in that way.

With all the new escape room books for adults, it was only a matter of time before versions for kids appeared. Escape Game Adventure The Mad Hacker is a perfect choice for puzzle-loving children.

Using skills like code-breaking, matching pictures, counting, following directions, and applying the correct tools to a problem, this book will teach many abilities that are useful in life. All eight of the puzzles require the use of reason and logic to determine how to solve them. To avoid frustration, the book provides three hints for each puzzle, along with a thumbs-up validation page to ensure the reader is on the correct path. In addition, all of the puzzles have a clearly illustrated answer page.

The puzzles in the Escape Game Adventure The Mad Hacker use varied skills to solve. The illustrations are both cute and clear. Be aware that the “toolkit” in the back that must be used to solve some of the puzzles must be cut out of the book to be used. Essentially, this makes the book a one-time use activity. However, it should be a pleasant hour or two for your youngster. 5 stars!

Thanks to Red Feather, Schiffer Publishing Ltd. and NetGalley for a copy in exchange for my honest review.
