A lovely heartwarming book set in a gorgeous part of France which draws you in from the first pages. The characters are well defined and I loved the bond that formed between the women and their stories unfolding. Perfect summer read.

A Riviera Retreat offers readers a gorgeous setting (France on the Riviera with side trips to Cannes and Monaco), relatable characters and an engaging story line that pays homage to the well known book, Enchanted April.

Protagonist, Amy, has inherited a wellness retreat from her aunt. It offered her the perfect escape from a bad marriage. Now, Amy would like to give something back. Influenced by Enchanted April, she has a contest. The winners will spend ten days at Belle Vue at no expense. The book then tells the stories and backstories of these characters. They include Matilda; she is in her 60s and a widow of two years. Will she decide to move to France as she had planned with her husband before he died? Next is Vicky who is married to a politician and is an aspiring author. Now that her children are older, she wants a life of her own. Will she get it? Finally there is Chelsea. Her affair with a married man (though she did not know that he was married) has come to light in the most embarrassing of ways. Will this caterer get her life back on track?

I enjoyed following all of the story lines and the relationships that these characters have with each other and the significant people in their lives. All of this with (virtual) good food, friendship and more make for the perfect relaxing read. Those who would like a nice, escapist read, please get hold of this one.

Many thanks to NetGalley and the publisher. All opinions are my own.

I have read several of Jennifer Bohnet and I’ve always enjoyed her books so was looking forward to this one. I was not disappointed and found it hard to put this book down and read it very quickly.

Set in Belle Vue, a gorgeous retreat on the Côte d’Azur this book made me long for a holiday in the sun. So well described, this was a perfect location. The story drew me in from the start. I liked all of the characters and enjoyed how they developed throughout the book.

A perfect holiday read or a cheering story for a cold winter's day.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the opportunity to read this book in exchange for an honest review

This is such a wonderful story of the strength of female friendship and second chances. Set in such a beautiful location, I found it difficult to put down and was completely engrossed as each of the women's stories unfolded. This is the first title I have read of this author and will definitely be reading more.

If you have read one Jennifer Bohnet book you should be hooked. The story of four women needing directions in their life all being from different backgrounds all struggling for answers. Friendship bond. All set in a beautiful location which makes any one see the description in their mind, A good book to pick up and read.

The next best thing to hobnobbing with the rich and famous in the South of France while sipping a glass of expensive champagne, Jennifer Bohnet is back with an escapist, exciting and enjoyable read about friendships, the ties that bind and second chances it is absolutely impossible not to lap up: A Riviera Retreat.

Retreat owner Amy’s decision to offer three competition winners a holiday on the Cote d’Azur was purely meant to be a simple act of kindness. But unbeknownst to Amy, this act of generosity is going to be an eye-opening game changer not just for the three women coming to holiday on the French Riviera, but also for her as well. For young entrepreneur Chelsea, the rug had been well and truly pulled out from under her feet when she had been subjected to a public and very humiliating break-up. Desperate for escape and for a refuge to hide in and lick her wounds, a break on the Riviera is just what the doctor ordered. As she takes some much needed rest and begins to work things out about herself and her future, will she realise that perhaps this break up was the best thing that ever happened to her? Or is she still clinging to the last vestiges of hope that things with her ex might work out?

MP’s wife Victoria is suffering from a severe case of empty nest syndrome. Now that the children no longer need her, Victoria finds herself at a loss. But now that she’s had a lot of time to think, she realises that there is more to life than being a wife and mother. With some much needed time for reflection, Victoria realises that she has ambitions of her own. Ambitions that are not too late to realise. Will she have the courage to take a leap of faith? Or will she continue to be mired in fear and insecurity? Meanwhile, recently widowed Matilda is still trying to get to grips with life without her husband. Matilda has always had a dream she previously never had an opportunity to make a reality. Is now the time to throw caution to the wind and make things happen for her? Or are some dreams better left alone?

These four women from different walks of life find themselves bonding and relating to one another and forming a friendship that will last a lifetime.

Like having a chat with your very best friends over a couple of glasses of wine, A Riviera Retreat is an uplifting, feel-good and poignant tale of new beginnings, fresh starts and healing from the past that will touch your heart and have you roaring with laughter. With four fantastic heroines you cannot help but root for and cheer for and plenty of humour, drama and pathos, Jennifer Bohnet’s A Riviera Retreat is another outstanding read by this brilliant storyteller.

My thanks to NetGalley and the Publisher for this prepub ecopy. This is a perfect women's literature read. The setting of the French Riviera is described with whimsical detail and sets the scene for this novel of self-discovery and friendship. I thoroughly enjoyed getting to know the characters and now I want to go spend a week with all 4 women and their families! It was an entertaining and easy read. I enjoyed the smattering of French that gave authenticity. Jennifer Bohnet has a written another wonderful novel! Put this on your TBR list!

The second I saw the combinations of gorgeous cover, always entertaining author, and the mentions of South of France and competition winners, in the blurb, I knew this would be perfect book for me.

And my initial impressions were completely and utterly spot on. I thoroughly adored this book, I loved all all three of the women that won the competition and also Amy the villa owner.

What I don't think any of them would have guessed is how a 10 night holiday would change their lives for the better, in so many more ways than just having a wonderful holiday.

We have Vicky the MP's wife, who is trying now her children have left home, to work out to become herself again, and not just an MP's wife. Chelsea who has a very embarrassing incident that could affect her business and she needs to escape her life for a bit just until things die down. And then there is Matilda, who has been widowed for 2 years, but she and her husband had always dreamed of moving to France.

Three very different women who meet for the first time on arriving in the South of France, and quickly become friends. The book is split into each day of the holiday and then within the chapter, we get sections dedicated to each character.

Between them, we are treated to life on the Cote D'Azur, trips to Cannes, Monaco and Antibes, French Food, sun, and it just screamed wonderful holiday reading book. I would have loved to have read this poolside somewhere hot, with a cocktail in hand, it really did feel like a wonderful summery beach / pool read.

For a book set over only 10 days there is an impressive amount of plot, character development, side story lines, and life changing moments packed in, and yet it all felt real, logical and felt completely right.

i loved every moment of this book and already looking forward to the author's next story.

Thank you to Boldwood and Netgalley for this copy which I have reviewed honestly and voluntarily.

I previously reviewed another book by Jennifer Bohnet and was delighted to hear about this title. I’d hoped that it was maybe a continuation of Villa of Sun and Secrets but, I wasn’t disappointed to meet new characters and a different location.
As this book falls under romantic fiction, I knew that the story would soon turn into tales of the heart and I was only slightly wrong. Jennifer took the time to explore each character and build their personalities as individuals before any love interests appeared. It was refreshing to see a different way of building the stories.
For once, I didn’t find a favourite character, all of the women were beautifully created and I was able to identify with each one of them on some level.
Once again, I am left with a strong desire to visit the Riviera and explore the towns that Jennifer writes about, like Tilly, I’d love to live there.

The setting for A Riviera Retreat is evoked so effortlessly that it does not take much for you to imagine yourself there, lapping up the sunshine and strolling down through the beautiful gardens. I loved the format for the story with four disparate women who come together by chance but who find that they have some things in common. They each seem to draw something different from the experience and the story explores female friendship along the way.

As each of the women's stories is revealed, you get to glimpse the people in their lives. I enjoyed how some of the stories became intertwined and how different generations found they had things in common, seen through Chelsea and Matilda's friendship. Just as the women took time out of their lives to regroup and reappraise, the reader also relaxes into the novel. It turned out to be a warm and rewarding read.
Thanks to the author for a copy of the book.

Thank you to Netgalley, the publishing house and the author for the opportunity to read a complimentary copy of this book in return for review based upon my honest opinion.

This was such a heartwarming, picturesque, feel-good story. Our main character Amy, decides to have a competition, based upon her favourite movie and novel, Enchanted April, to win a free holiday for three women to come to stay at her little retreat in southern France, retreat that she had inherited from her wonderful loving aunt, Tasha, a retreat that had given her back a piece of her self.
When we meet our three contest winners, Vicky, Chelsea and Matilda, they could not have been any more different, but over the 10 days at the Villa with Amy these four women forge a bond, they laugh, and share their lives. The story left me feeling warm and hopeful, it was a lovely little foray into the lives of these women and how they created a bond, a friendship that will last. They helped one another solve problems, sometimes problems they didn’t even know they had; their lives will never be the same.

I love the style of writing of this author, I have previously read one of her other books “A Villa of Sun and Secrets” and I absolutely loved that one as well. I highly recommend this book it was such a great read. As I sat here looking out the window at the snow that won’t stop falling, I read this wonderful story, I could almost feel the heat from the French Riviera sun and could almost smell the flowers blooming in Pierre‘s garden. A lovely story that I won’t soon forget.

A super easy to read, sun kissed tale, of 4 women coming together on holiday each with a decision on what to do next with their life.

After reading Jennifer Bohnet's previous book I couldn't wait to be whisked back to the sunny French Riviera again and read of how these four women come together.

Receiving inspiration from her favourite film, Amy decides to hold a competition for 3 people to win a stay at her Retreat near Cannes.  The 3 women who come to stay are all at a time in their life where they have a choice to make.  Carry on as they are or make a change.

The youngest competition winner, Chelsea has received an unexpected surprise , and a very public one at that!  She flies off to Cannes in a state of shock, without even telling her Dad where she has gone.  Keen to make the most of this holiday, she soon starts to make friends with the others and shares her love of cooking with them all.  Victoria, closet to Amy's age, has always wanted to write and now is her chance, but how will her husband feel about that?  She uses this time on her own to start her book, and if things go well decides how she will explain to him that this time is now her time.  Matilda and her late husband had always dreamed of moving to France, but now he's gone is she brave enough to do it on her own?  With the encouragement from the others and new friends she meets at the retreat, she finds her answer.

I enjoyed all of the characters mentioned above but it is Amy's story we learn most about.  How she came to have been left the retreat by her Aunt and as she too starts to tie up loose ends, the three other women prove to be more than just guests.

As with The Villa of Sun and Secrets the setting is a major part of the book.  The descriptions of Cannes and its surroundings are spot on and add on the setting of the retreat and its gardens it all makes for some glorious escapism.

An uplifting tale that has you breakfasting on coffee and croissant before taking a dip in the pool!

This book is a beautiful story of female friendship. It is perfect for a Summer beach read. Four women meet at a resort in Cote D'azure, France for a holiday of unexpected surprises. I enjoyed the character arch of these women and the relationship they built with one another.
