I did really enjoy this new book by Toni Anderson but the heroine kind of annoyed me. She grated on my nerves and seemed to be doing everything in her power to end her career before it had barely even begun. The hero was great and I loved the thrilling ride that we as readers are taken on. I loved how this book really keeps you on your toes thinking until the last possible moment. I know I will read more in the series

This is the start of the Cold Justice - Crossfire series, which is a branch of her Cold Justice series.

This book starts off with a bang and never lets up! We meet up with the main characters at a funeral for an agent of the FBI. Agent Dominic Sheriden is a Crisis Negotiator mourning the loss of his friend and mentor when he meets rookie Agent Ava Kanas. She is trying to get an investigation into the death, which was ruled accidental, but everyone thought was a suicide. The two end up working together and the can't believe what they have stumbled onto. It appears that someone is targeting FBI agents.

Can they find out who is doing this before anymore people are killed? Will they both still have a job after going against orders?

This book is fast paced and will keep you guessing. It has romance mixed in with the action. Fans of this author will love to see some characters from the Cold Justice series. It is a stand alone story, but if you want to know background on previous characters, I recommend reading the previous series,

Great romance and great mystery. Ava is an FBI rookie convinced her mentor did not commit suicide. Dominic is a respected negotiator with powerful connections. Their paths cross and sparks fly.

This was a great combination of mystery and romance. I was surprised by the ending and had a hard time putting this book down. This was my first book by this author, but now I need to go back and read more because this was a great blend of hot romance and suspense which I love.

I received a review copy from the publisher via NetGalley.

I had a hard time getting into this book. I felt bogged down by the titles and terminology. It also goes off on tangents that do not seem important to the story line. The 2 main characters seemed to be in each others orbit for a little bit but all of a sudden had a mutual attraction. Overall it was an alright book if you can get through the cop talk.
Thank you to the publisher and Netgalley for the copy of the book.

Toni Anderson ALWAYS delivers. This new spin off is no exception. It isn’t quite as intricate as some of her others books, but the pieces are there. I look forward to reading the next book.

Thank you netgalley for providing this ARC in exchange for an honest review.
While I had enjoyed the previous novel I could not get into this one. The heroine is tough, resilient and eager to get to the bottom of the death of her friend but not many believe her. Her and the hero join together to figure out who killed her cop friend. While the plot was intense , I did not buy the sexual attraction between the hero and the heroine. There wasnt enough fire there to be convincing. In the end, this was an entertaining thriller but not much of a romance.

Absolutely a Spectacular Suspense Romance. I volunteered to read and review through Netgalley a readers copy of Cold and Deadly .
I must say this story is everything you could want in a suspense romance/thriller . It captivated me from the beginning and held my attention all the way through till the end . This story is intriguing and entertaining . It's full of twists and turns that keep you guessing . Such an action packed pulse pounding story . Dominic Sheridan is a FBI Crisis Negotiator he meets Rookie agent Ava Kanas at the funeral of a close friend and retired fellow agent . Soon it becomes obvious that someone is targeting FBI agents and making them look like accidents or suicides . Ava and Dominic set out to catch the killer with help of some friends . Their attraction makes things more dangerous to themselves , their jobs and definitely their lives . I absolutely love this story . I'm looking forward to reading more from Author . I highly recommend taking the time to read and enjoy this five star read .

If this first book is any indication, this going to be another fantastic series. This spin-off of the Cold Justice series featured plenty of action, romance, suspense and best of all I was surprised by the culprit! If you've read the original series, you will recognize some familiar faces, namely Agent Mallory Rooney, Lincoln Fraser and Alex Parker. However, if you haven't read the series, and I suggest you do, the book can be read on it's own. Fortunately, the next book is already available, yay!

I have been reading Toni Anderson books since 2014, so the author’s style and book content is not new to me. I read Cold & Deadly (Cold Justice: Crossfire #1) by Toni Anderson , as a NetGalley “read now” selection, almost a year after its original publication date. Sadly I found the book to be rather bland, single dimensional, and with characters I couldn’t identify with or root for. The overall story in my opinion lacked excitement, tension, surprise, or any real suspense. The romantic component of the story had the required sex scenes, the rush to love, and the expected “happy for now / forever” ending.

I felt the book was rather generic, change the character’s names, have a different plot, but it could have been any other book by the same author. Looking back over the author’s books I’ve read, I see the most of my enjoyment came from her early Cold Justice books , losing steam towards the end of that series.

In my opinion, a story with more suspense, surprise, even some grizzly scenes and plot that keeps the reader guessing, and on the edge of their seat is far more satisfying. I almost could call this a cozy romantic suspense read.

I realize looking at other reviews of the book that I am in the minority, but for me this was a 2.75 star read which I will raze to 3 stars.

I wish to extend my thanks to the Author, her publishing division and NetGalley for the opportunity to read and provide an honest review.

Cold & Deadly by Toni Anderson is the first in the new series Cold Justice: Crossfire 1.
If you love romantic suspense then this is the book for you. I eagerly await the next book in this series.

When Ava Kansas's FBI mentor and friend, retired agent Van Santos dies, she’s determined to prove that it wasn’t a suicide despite what the evidence appears to show. She is not buying their explanation. She knows is was murder and is determined to prove it, but as a rookie FBI agent no one is taking her seriously. Santos was more than a friend and his death is especially tough to Special Agent Dominic Sheridan. He is the only on who is willing to at least consider what she has to say.

Ava, is impulsive, blunt, and reckless as well as courageous, stubborn and determined. She has a passion for work and her family. I love strong women characters and she is one that I admire. Dominic Sheridan has gotten to his position in the FBI on his own and not on his name and personal connections. Unlike Ava he wasn't close to his family and he realizes that much of the responsibility for that lies on him.

Sheridan recognizes Ava's strengths as an agent, even when other agents didn't, and tries to help her, without overshadowing her or patronizing her. They are a good team professionally and personally. He is also loyal and committed. A willingness to change and an ability to admit weaknesses were traits that Dominic and Ava share.

Ava's concerns are troubling until Dominic is almost killed too. Now her suspicions are becoming a little too "real". It becomes clear a serial killer is targeting the FBI. Together Dominic and Ava search for clues in the investigation, while fighting a forbidden attraction that will complicate everything, especially when the predator sets their sights on Ava..

This romantic suspense that will keep you guessing until the end, there are several twists and turns. There are some tastefully done sexual scenes that blend in well with the plot. I highly recommend it! I received an ARC of this book via NetGalley and the publisher for an honest review.

This book will keep you on the edge of your seat, with a touch of anxiety, while racing towards the finish line... there’s so much going on at times, I felt a little overwhelmed as though I was actually trying to stop the bad guys.

What a suspenseful story! This is my first read from this author, but I became so invested in this story that I definitely want to go back and read the previous books before this spin-off. It was crazy that someone would target FBI agents, and the catalyst being the assassination of another during the funeral of another one. This sparks Ava to fight to investigate, having a feeling that something bigger is going on with these murders. Dominic is hesitant to believe Ava, especially with her being a new agent and him being seasoned, but when things start to add up he hops on board and they start to determine who is after the other agents. This story kept me guessing and changing my mind on who was behind the murders, and I was definitely shocked to find out who was behind it and the reasoning behind them. Combined with the suspense on who was behind the murders, I also liked the romantic aspect within the storyline with Dominic and Ava and the politics with a relationship within the FBI. It was a wild ride and I can’t wait to see what comes next in this series!

Oh my! First time reading this author! Certainly won’t be the last! Ava is an FBI agent, when her mentor is found dead under questionable circumstances, she is tasked with the job of convincing her fellow agents it was not by his own hand but murder! Dominic is another agent and hmmmm what am agent, can she convince him, can they find out what really happened?

This is a voluntary review of an advanced copy.

Ava seems like a loose cannon to Dominic and most of the FBI agents but she is on to something and is trying to hard to get people to listen to her.

As the book progresses, Dominic and Ava have to work together and try to suppress their attraction while trying to figure out if Ava's suspicions are correct or she is just unable to believe that her mentor could actually commit suicide.

This book keeps you guessing and I was surprised when the culprit is revealed and so pack filled with action and sexual attraction that it is hard to put this book down!

Should be "Hot" & Deadly:
Wow, this was a fabulous book! Both Ava and Dominic are suspicious of the death of their friend and mentor and join forces to investigate. There were plenty of twists and turns which kept me guessing and it was well paced with a good balance of dialogue to action.
Ava and Dominic try to fight the attraction they have towards one another given that they are FBI co-workers and both adverse to long term relationships. However I am glad to report they finally give in to temptation and love!
This story had me hooked from the very beginning and I thoroughly enjoyed getting to know these brave and dedicated agents.
