The storyline struggled to hook me in and I found my thoughts drifting a little as I read. Premise of the story was good but felt a little predictable

The Good Mother by Cathryn Grant is a solidly written domestic thriller with cunning characters. I loved the way the story came together in an unpredictable way. Fast pace and a good plot. Loved it. Recommend.

This book started strong with a "Big Little Lies" vibe. Sadly as the story progressed the characters began to great on me and I wanted to reach into the book and give a couple of them a good shameful tell them to get a grip! The ending was a little to predictAble and a bit of a let down , it seemed to easy to give all the main characters a "Happy Ending" so to speak - I was left wanting more.

The writing and plot was good with lots of potential and the story did flow well so I would definitely read more by this author.

A good 3.5 star read.

I struggled a little with this one. The start of the book was shocking and not what I was expecting at all, and I felt immediately gripped.
In all honestly after that I wasnt so hooked. I wouldn't necessarily describe this as the thriller I was expecting....more a story of gossipy mothers! Just lacked the punch I was expecting.
A little disappointing, but still readable.

What a fascinating book. I was impressed by the storyline and the characters were all well written and complex. Where there are complex storylines combined with intriguing characters the reader experience is magnified tremendously. To have a book that is well written as well as entertaining is a delight. Reading is about escaping your world and entering another one. Here I forgot about my own life and was immersed in the world created by the author. I would recommend this book.

An interesting read looking at what it takes to be a good mother. Amy, Rachel and Charlotte all have girls in the same class. Each are trying to do their best for their children but with different backgrounds they don’t always agree on what is right.

I found this to be more gossipy and suburban housewife than thriller. The characters were immature and I lost interest with the silly storyline.

I really loved this book in a new to me author. The characters and location really and to the story. I can't wait to read the next one. This book keeps you guessing until the end.

The Good Mother by Cathryn Grant is more of a domestic drama than it is a psychological thriller, and it was right up my alley. Perfect for fans of “Big Little Lies” and with faint echoes of “Little Fires Everywhere”, this novel grabbed me from the first page and didn’t let go until I turned the last page in less than a day.

Amy Lewis has the “perfect” suburban life - perfect twin daughters, perfect husband, perfect McMansion. She’s the queen bee of her circle of mom friends at Spruce Elementary. Her world is thrown into disarray when a new mom, Charlotte, arrives. Charlotte isn’t like the other moms with her short spiky hair, nose piercing, Doc Martens - and worst of all to Amy’s mind, Charlotte doesn’t wear a bra. Amy takes an instant, judgmental dislike to Charlotte and makes sure Charlotte knows it.

Amy’s life has been shaped by a traumatic childhood event, and it has a profound impact on her adult life, view of herself and other women, and her life in general. As the story unfolded, I felt both disgust and pity for Amy and her actions. Ms. Grant’s novel is engrossing and the short chapters kept me turning the pages. I would definitely read other books by this author.

Many thanks to Inkubator Books and NetGalley for the opportunity to read and review this book!

This one reminded me a lot of Liane Moriarty, but I really struggle to like any of the characters. It was a bit too much suburban housewife/soccer mom gossip and drama without the juicy elements.

Thank you to Netgalley and Inkubator Books for the arc of The Good Mother.

This book explores motherhood, relationships and how they can become toxic and even deadly. I liked how the author created the different perspectives and voices for all of the characters and gave us a glimpse into their home lives, friendships and personal struggles. I did find the book felt long and found Amy's voice and actions to be repetitive which took away from their initial impact for me as i did find her backstory and how it impacted her actions interesting.

Solid domestic suspense with a focus on relationships and internal struggles.

I couldn’t really get into this book for some reason. I found the characters unsympathetic. A shame, as it sounded promising.

For me this book was a bit slow all the way through. I really wanted to love it unfortunately I did not.

Thank you, Cathryn Grant, Inkubator Books and Netgalley for the eARC I received all my views are my own.

I enjoyed this book despite the violent undertones in certain parts. What is particularly intriguing in this book is how the author effortlessly switches between the voices and perspectives of three very different women, each thought carefully piecing the puzzle together.. Overall a very enjoyable read!

Amy and Charlotte are two very different women! Amy thinks her life is perfect whereas as Charlotte knows her own life is far from perfect. When their daughters become friends it’s hard for Amy to accept Charlotte.
Amy doesn’t want to have Charlotte in her life and has to take matters into her own hands.
I enjoyed this book despite the violent undertones in certain parts. Amy was not a very likeable character but it fitted in with the story! Thank you to netgalley and the publishers for this arc in exchange for my honest review.

This psychological thriller will have you hooked from the very beginning. I found myself reaching for this book every free chance I got. I couldn't wait to see what would happen next. This is a must read! The soccer mom clique drama, town gossip, and just plain craziness will keep you on your toes while reading. This book should be made into a movie or tv series!

Thank you to Netgalley for the advanced copy!
