Initially I felt this book was a little slow to start with but the pace picks up when Jared our bot hero starts his epic journey of self discovery.
Jared’s observations of humanity are themselves thought provoking as he tries to make sense of the often irrational actions and activities of the humans he encounters. The story revolves around the awakening he experiences of human feelings and emotions, things he has not been programmed to feel. This metamorphosis is facilitated by his watching and connection to old movies and the stories he becomes engaged with, which are often baffling to his logic circuits.
He begins a literal journey to San Francisco where the story will end with him making the most human decision of all. At various locations along the Pacific coast highway he experiences the highs and lows of being human while still being aware that many of these experiences are simply not logical.
I loved this book. Can see a big or small screen adaptation in its future. Thanks for the opportunity to read it.

Light comedy, a fun spin on the AI theme.

Jared is a bot, but a bot who discovers emotions; bots cannot have feelings so this is wrong - but Jared grows to enjoy these feelings and even falls in love.... however, this putting is continuing existence in jeopardy.

I did enjoy this - particularly Jared's sense of humour. Humans - I cannot!

At first I was frustrated as I feel so many books in my queue this year were written in text abbreviations. Then I realised how hard Jared the bot was working to relate to humans! This was a fun little read with lots of pop culture and humour in a world where bitcoin has finally overtaken fiat and football teams are all androids. It was all a bit futuristic Midnight Cowboy. 10/10 would read again, no bamboozle.
