I adore Janet's interwoven bookiverse.

The 3rd book in her Sinclair Sisters series and the final of the four sisters, Agnes finds herself in cold, miserable Scotland working as the general manager at the Invertary pub/hotel..

She is determined to succeed at this job because she has the training and knowledge, just not the reputation since she has scruples and wouldn't sleep with the creepy hotel owner who had her blacklisted in the industry before she even gets her first management job. She is trying to hold on for the year of job experience this will give her. Although, Dougal (the owner) is not making this easy. And a rash of mysterious thefts in the hotel are not helping either. Especially since she feels like Dougal has her at the top of his suspects list. And then he goes and hires Benson Security to investigate, and Logan is brought into do work with her solving the mystery.

Logan who finds her fascinating and irresistible. Who she can't stop thinking about. Who disrupts her plan to get out of this cold miserable purgatory called Invertary.

Logan who makes her realize maybe Scotland isn't quite as bad as she thinks. He helps Agnes not just solve the mysterious thefts, but he also helps her rediscover much more.

Witty, hilarious, touching, some steam, and filled with holiday cheer, Agnes & Logan's story does not disappoint. And you might even find yourself liking Satan a bit after this one is done. I love Invertary and it's oddball assortment of crazy residents. We get to visit with the Knit or Die ladies, who take Agnes under their wing. The ladies of Invertary & Benson Security. This bookiverse is a wonderful way to spend some time.

The relationship between the hero and his children was fabulous. The bantering between the heroine and hero was fun. The heroine has agency and strength in her relationship with the hero. I also liked that the downside of small town life – nosy neighbors and trouble with the economy – is shown.

Then … I got to a scene in which the hero is caught naked outside the heroine’s room. Several people discover him and photos are taken which then appear all over the internet being seen around the world. People in town joke with him about this. I realize this is supposed to be funny but I couldn’t stop thinking about a reversal. If the heroine had had this happen, it would be (rightly) seen as #metoo and sexually degrading. So why should it be seen as cute if it happens to a man?

I kept reading, but had taken some grade points off. Then I got to almost the end when the hero’s daughter tells the heroine about being bullied (to the point she had a bruise on her face). There is no mention made of her telling anyone in authority or her father. The heroine gets (justifiably) outraged and starts to show the girl some self defense moves. Unknown to them, the hero and his son are eavesdropping. Their reaction is … how scary cool the heroine is. The son does get mad that his sister was being bullied but the hero seems more interested in how well the heroine can defend herself. He doesn’t storm over to the school or anything. What?? And then nothing further is said for the (short) rest of the book.

Five or ten years ago, these things would probably not have bothered me as much. But they do now. I think there are better ways that the story could have been moved forward without using the means that were employed. The good aspects of the book are very good but the bad ones are very bad so I’m giving it a split grade B/F.

"Can't Buy Me Love" by Janet Elizabeth Henderson was a sweet, funny story that combined some of the key elements of a cozy mystery with a romantic comedy to create an enjoyable tale. There were a number of times I laughed out loud while reading, but I think my favorite moment was when main character Agnes dubbed herself a "hotel elf" and likened her job to that of Dobby the house elf. (As a big "Harry Potter" fan, I could absolutely appreciate the similarities between Agnes's position and Dobby's!) The investigation into the hotel thefts was also pretty amusing at times, especially as the culprits were revealed.

Agnes and her love interest, Logan, were both very likeable main characters, but I thought their relationship could have been better paced and developed. I am not a big fan of the insta-love trope, and that seemed to be what was going on here as Logan and Agnes jumped right into things without much flirting or build up. It only took about a day for Logan to tell Agnes that he thought they had a "special connection" and that he was willing to take whatever she would give him in terms of a relationship, which felt very rushed to me. They didn't know each other at all, and while they may have had incredible chemistry, I had a hard time believing in their emotional connection after such a short time. I felt better about their relationship by the end of the book, but I still would have liked to see more emotional development along the way.

Aside from Logan and Agnes, the other characters in this book were a lot of fun. I particularly enjoyed Dougal, Agnes's boss, Logan's mother and kids, and Mrs. Andrews, the American hotel guest. The relationship between Agnes and her sisters was also quite lovely. It was clear that they had a very strong bond and that the distance between them hadn't changed it.

Overall, "Can't Buy Me Love" was a nice, light read and provided a great distraction from the chaos of holiday preparations going on around me. I would read more books by Ms. Henderson in the future.

This was so much fun to read. Entertaining characters and a fun setting. Wasn’t expecting all the spicy bits but they worked well. One complaint is that the relationship just moved way too fast for me, woukd have preferred the story to be longer with more relationship building. But still it was fun and enjoyable.

I haven’t read the other Sinclair sisters books but this worked fine as a stand-alone. I don’t understand the title here though. Nothing relating to the title was in the book.

Overall a very enjoyable rompy read!

This was such a fun story with a heroine that’s prickly, grumpy and a bit antisocial and a hero who loves that about her.

All of her life, Agnes has carried the load of responsibility for herself and her sisters. Now that she’s finally able to be free, she’s been blacklisted and unable to get the type of job she wants. Instead, she’s stuck in a small Scottish town where it’s always cold, dreary and isolated. Even her attraction to Logan can’t hold her back once her year here is finished.

Logan is instantly attracted to Agnes and her snarky attitude. The more fire she spits at him, the more he falls. But with a bit of maneuvering, he manages to get her to spend some time with him. However, his ex taught him a hard lesson, and he won’t beg her to stay despite his desire to hold on tight and never let her go.

I laughed pretty much throughout this whole book. Agnes was hilarious with all her grumpiness. Usually, that attitude is reserved for the hero. I’ve never read anything where the heroine was broody and growly. Before this book, I would have sworn I would never enjoy such a main female character. But holy heck! I adored Agnes! She was so much fun! Add in the way Logan reacted to her and my enjoyment skyrocketed.

I loved Logan and the way he approached Agnes. The fact that she baffled him at times only endeared him to me more. While he was definitely an alpha hero, he never tried to run roughshod over Agnes. Of course, she would have probably cold-cocked him if he tried.

Together, this couple were just too cute for words. The chemistry between them absolutely sizzles and there is no doubt that they were meant for each other. With a wealth of secondary characters to add to the humor as well as support these characters in their struggle to find their happy ever after, and a bit of a mystery to keep the story moving, this was a well rounded read that stole my heart and made me fall even deeper in love with Scotland.

Highly recommend this book to anyone who enjoys a rom-com with a unique heroine.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publishers for letting me read this book.
I don't know if it's the books I've been reading lately, but this one caught me by surprise with how fun it was. I haven't read the previous books and it didn't matter at all.
The main characters Agnes and Logan had good chemistry, as well as plausible reasons for their actions.
The plot wasn't too unbelievable and made for an interesting story.
The side characters were lovable too and really generated that small town feel. Some of the one-liners had me laughing out-loud.
An all around feel-good romance.

Agnes Sinclair has taken care of her sisters for a long time now she’s a grumpy Scrooge who doesn’t make friends. She hates Scotland, her job and just about everything. Her boss is crazy and dresses funny. Logan works for Benson Security and is called into help catch a thief. He is attracted to Agnes prickly personality’s day all. This story is light hearted and funny. Just what I needed in this stressful holiday season. There are lots of colorful characters. Just a good quick read just in time for Christmas. I received this Arc from NetGalley for a honest review.

An entertaining read! I hadn't read any others in the series, and while I don't think that mattered I am looking forward to reading them now!

Agnes is a great character - all she wants is to do well in this job so she can leave Scotland. Will that change when she meets Logan?

Can't Buy Me Love is the 3rd and final book in the Sinclair Sisters trilogy, but worlds collide with the Invertary series and the Benson Security series as well, so no matter what you read from Janet Elizabeth Henderson, there is something in here for you. It is also a complete standalone, so even if you haven't read any of her previous books, you can still fully enjoy this one, too.

This book is full of witty dialog and innuendo, and it is a fun, quick, vibrant read for when you want a good story with some levity and romance. It's like a good Hallmark Channel movie - it leaves you with a smile on your face and a little bright spot in your heart. Definitely one that will leave a smile on your face.

I loveeeee this book. Pleasant, engaging, humorous and light romantic read. I'm always here for this.
One thing I love about this book is that Logan was not imposing. He allowed Agnes choose and that's a virtue men need to learn.
Well done, Janet Elizabeth Henderson.

If you want a light, humorous and romantic read, this book is definitely for you.

Thank you to Janet Elizabeth Henderson and NetGalley for an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

This was a light-hearted read, kind of like a cheesy rom-com in book form. Totally predictable, but cute with a side of steamy, written with a lot of self-awareness and a deft light touch which made it perfect for a dark December Saturday. I haven't read any of the other books that are apparently in this series, but I didn't need to to enjoy this for what it was: a fun, short diversion toward the holiday spirit.

Can’t Buy Me Love is a ridiculously funny, sexy, and oh so good to immerse oneself in the pages therein. Hotel manager, Agnes doesn’t like interacting with people, hates cold, damp weather and wants to be anywhere but Scotland. She needs to stay, however, to redeem her reputation within the hotel industry. And then there is Logan, of the fabulously fitting jeans, who works for the private security firm that the hotel owner wants her to work with on a series of hotel robberies, and the Knit or Die group. While this is book 3 in the Sinclair Sisters series, it certainly can be read as a stand-alone. The dialogue driven story is cleverly plotted and the characters well defined... and it’s simply a hoot. I voluntarily reviewed an advance copy of this book from NetGalley. Most highly recommend.

ARC received for an honest review.

This was basically like reading a Hallmark Holiday Movie. Sweet. Silly. A little steamy. Predictable. Easy. And cute.

No, I won’t remember this book in 3 months. Yes, i rolled my eyes a bunch. But I also enjoyed myself. It was the perfect mini-getaway. Without leaving the house.

Apparently this book ties a couple of series together. I’ve not read them - or anything by this author. Didn’t seem to matter.

Agnes has a new job in a tiny Scottish town as a hotel manager. A series of thefts at the hotel mean a security company is hired to investigate. Cue sassy, kinda bitchy Agnes and the endlessly patient security guy.

It was fluffy as hell, and you totally know how it’s going to end. But if you want to grin stupidly while being filled with the holiday spirit this is your book.
