I really enjoyed this book until the ending. I felt the ending was a huge anti climax.
I was also not taken in with the romantic side story.
An ok read but not very thrilling.

I have tried 3 times to read this book but unfortunately I just cannot finish it. The characters just come across as boring, Ruth is an oddball! She wants her friends to stop thinking of selling her house. I don't like giving a bad review but this book was just not for me!

Sorry this really wasn't for me. I thought this was supposed to be a psychological thriller, but where was the psychology and where was the thriller. Terribly boring.

Enjoyed the slow burn of this psychological thriller and the tension created. As the reader, you know the deal and wonder if other people will figure it out. I'm looking forward to reading more from the author!

3 for neutral, this book unfortunately was one I couldn’t get into. I tried on a few occasions, but it never grabbed me. I will update my review if able to read at a later date, as I am a very moody reader and don’t feel comfortable rating a book poorly I did not finish.

I expected the pace of the book to be better. It was just so slow sometimes. The premise and the plot is good, but the pace wasn't there. If it was shorter, and better paced, it's a good story.
Thanks a lot to the publisher and NG for this copy.

This was sadly a DNF for me. I didn’t find the book anywhere near as suspenseful and creepy as I expected, This could have been really good, but after a few chapters just felt like a straightforward narrative of a woman who doesn’t want her friends to sell their house, so finds ways of putting off buyers. None of these ideas are ingenious or particularly scary. It might have helped if there had been more on the main characters relationship with the couple. I felt like I was being told something rather than shown it. So when they announce their intention to sell I really didn’t care, about them or their friend. We haven’t seen any of the happy times they’ve shared and I couldn’t engage with any of them.

Thank you for my copy,

This is a good read overall. I did enjoy it and parts of the novel were really well led often. Others however felt a bit lacking. It was good overall though.

An ok read.
Suzanne and Eddie decided to put their house on sail because they wanted to go near their daughter. Their house sitter Ruth is not happy with their decision. She doesn't want to leave their house and therefore decided to do her best to stop that house from selling. What happened next? Read this book to know more.
I didn't feel connected with any of the characters. Although Ruth's character is creepy but at the time of reading, i didn't care about her, about her wishes.
Narration of the story is ok.
Thanks to NetGalley and Headline for giving me an advance copy of this book.

I really enjoyed this book so much. It has a really great plot, superb main characters and I read it in one sitting. I would highly recommend this book.

Eddie and Suzanne Deacon have decided to put their house on the market, they are finding the weather in Wales harsh and want to move closer to their grandchildren.

Neighbour and friend Ruth Morgan is at first shocked and then annoyed at the news that they are moving away, she was hoping to move in with them and be their housekeeper/companion in a few years time.

Ruth has been a good friend, house sitting and looking after their dog when the Deacons go on holiday. Ruth is adamant she won’t lose her friends and will do anything to stop them selling their house.

Ruth is a great character coming up with cunning plans from telling prospective buyers the house is haunted, to getting a farmer to block their drive knowing a prospective buyer is coming around, her deviousness knows no bounds!!!

An easy to read book which will make you look at you’re neighbours in a new light. I’m glad Ruth isn’t our neighbour!!

Thank you to Netgalley for my copy in exchange for a review.

I had such high expectations for this one. But sadly it didn’t live up to it. It was really slow and mundane. Not the fast paced book I expected. The storyline did nothing to wow me. Huge disappointment

I’m so sorry but I was unable to finish The House Sitter. While I was interested in the plot I found the writing to be of an extremely low standard. So low that it was difficult to read,

Ok, so the premise of this sounds amazing. I love a dark and twisty tale, and this one seemed like it would be so unique and creepy. Unfortunately, all of that potential is wasted, and the reality is underwhelming and unenjoyable.

The writing itself was decent enough - there was some good tension at the beginning, but sadly it quickly tailed off. The so called thrills never came, and it became essentially a quite boring narrative of a woman trying to stop her friends selling their home by inconveniencing potential buyers in increasingly bizarre ways. There’s no real build up, no big reveal at the end, and then an incredibly sudden ending that feels almost like the true ending is missing. It’s just a very flat and dull read.

I was lured in by the synopsis, which references a range of reviews calling it powerful, spine-chilling and fantastically plotted. Personally, I disagree on all three counts, and I struggle to understand why a novel that just about scraped a 3 star rating on GoodReads in 2016 has been rereleased with seemingly no improvements made.

Sadly this one is a miss for me - the cover was more creepy than the book itself, and judging by the abrupt ending, it seems like even the author had had enough and decided to bail out. I honestly would avoid this one, and spend your time and money on something better.

Thank you NetGalley for this advanced copy. Crazy! This lady is crazy! Good suspense in parts. The ending was fairly predictable.
