The Stranger's Wife
by Anna-Lou Weatherley
3⭐⭐⭐
Description:
Beth and Cath are leaving their husbands. This is a story about two very different women.
One is wealthy and having an affair with a man who gives her the kind of love that her cold, detached husband does not.One is living hand to mouth, suffering at the hands of a violent partner who would rather see her dead than leave him.You may think you know these women already and how their lives will unfold.
Beth will live happily ever after with her little girl and her soulmate.Cath will go back to her abusive husband. And these two women will never cross paths. But you will be wrong.
On the 3.15pm train from London to Bristol, Beth and Cath are about to meet and discover they share one shocking thing in common.
🌞MY Review 🌞
It was an okay read. Nothing twisty or surprising. It's very easy to guess what happens.
The story alternates timelines 2018 and 2019
and characters of two abused women
Beth, Cat and Dan (the detective). At times I found the timeline very confusing.
It was a very quick read. I was able to finish it in a couple of hours.

Thank you NetGalley ,the publisher and the author for the chance to read and review .

The Stranger's Wife reminded me so much of Gone Girl in that it was suspenseful, dark, and really plays on those intricate difficulties of bad relationships. At first, I was a bit confused because the story was all over the place, but it definitely came together in the end and the ending was great. Entertaining and well written.

What a brilliant book this was. I had no idea how it was all going to end, but a very rewarding ending.. This would make an excellent film . Highly recommended

When a book is compared to Gone Girl, it rarely lives up to the hype. This one however, does! It really truly DOES! Beth is in a loveless marriage with an emotionally distant and cold husband. She has a young daughter and feels guilt over wanting to leave and be with the man she is having an affair with. He is the man she truly loves. Cath is pregnant and being abused by her boyfriend Saul, a drug addict. Both of these women are stuck in situations no one would want to be in! Both are feeling helpless and lost. Until one day fate steps in. What follows are plenty of thrills and shocking discoveries about the people you think you know. The tension builds to an almost satisfying ending! Other than that, I’d say this book looks to be one to look out for this year! Definitely make some time to read this one!

Thank you Netgalley for the oppportunity to preview The Stranger's Wife by Anna-Lou Weatherley. This is a series book, which i did not know at first. It stands on its own to some degree, however, it appears the background story is key to the plot line.
Solid crime novel.
3 stars.

This is my first book by the author. It has a decent story and good pace. A story about two women – Beth and Cath who are struggling with marital issues, and the stories converge well at the end.

Beth is married to Evan who is wealthy, but there seems to be little else to the marriage. She wants to move in with Nick, but it is not going to be easy and there is her young daughter Lily to consider. Cath is married to Saul, who is addicted to drugs and indulges in violent abuse. The scenes describing the abuse make for difficult & depressing reading but are very well written. Beth & Cath meet unexpectedly on the train and are struck by the similarities of their pains.

A violent crime brings Dan into the fray, who tries to piece together the sequence of event and the motive.
The book makes for engrossing reading - only the last few chapters could have been much better.

My rating: 3.5 / 5.

Title: The Stranger’s Wife
Author: Anna-Lou Weatherley
Genre: Suspense/Thriller
My rating: 5 stars

Excuse me in advance when I say… HECK, yeah 2020! Hello! How-you-doin’? Forgive the dramatics’ but I can’t help it. It’s a psychological thriller at its finest. Wow, where do I start? Okay, the story begins with two women who’re completely oblivious of the other. Both experience hardships in their marriages that bring them to the cusp of divorce.

*One’s a wealthy, well-to-do beauty stuck in a marriage that’s unrequited. Her husband could care less about her day-to-day drivel. Had it up to here with her husbands rejection she finds comfort in the strong loving arms of her gardener, Evan.

*The other woman’s the complete opposite: poor, timid and in an abusive marriage. The only similarity between the two, the feeling of being trapped in a small iron cage and wanting to break free.

By societies standards, these two should never meet. Until, one uncanny day they both caught the 3:15pm train from London to Bristol. They meet; and it’s like fate gave them a helping hand as they began to get better acquainted with each other. Both unloaded their hurts, grief and disappoints in their lives.
What happens next is a very clever turning point I didn’t see coming. You won’t either; or will you? Find out yourself with this AMAZING read!

*I received this mind-blowing ARC from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review*

They had me at Gone Girl.
I can't resist reading a book when they compare it to Gone Girl. Sometimes it is just a ploy but this time it does not disappoint.
The beginning is a little dark and depressing. But, it picks up quickly and you won't be able to put it down.
I highly recommend this book if you liked Gone Girl or the Woman on the Train.
I received this book from NetGalley.

A brilliant psychological thriller that you'll whizz through!

This thriller takes two very different womens stories and expertly weaves them together.

This novel had everything you want and need from this genre... thrill, suspense, intrigue, twists, turns and a crazy ending.

I loved the way the story unfolded little bu little so it kept you guessing and wanting more, so many books nowadays jump straight in with the action but this flowed perfectly.

The characters are well written, likeable and relatable. The settings were fantastically written so easy to picture in your imagination and the storyline was really well thought out.

Thanks to netgalley and Bookouture for the ARC.

3.5* from me

The Stranger’s Wife took me on a wild ride from start to finish. This story follows 2 women who are planning to leave their husbands and the repercussions that follow. It shows how greed, power and violence can affect not only a marriage, but the intertwining lives of strangers as well. This was a gripping read that I couldn’t put down!

I had a bit of trouble with this book. I really liked Dan's character and storyline, but the stories of Beth and Cath were confusing and hard to follow and didn't always make sense. It was okay, but not my favorite.

Two women, Beth and Cath, are leaving their husbands for different kinds of abuse. Neither one knows of the other but one day their paths cross and nothing will ever be the same. Evan and Beth live a life of luxury but their marriage is on the rocks and full of secrets. Cath and Saul live in a slummy part of town, their marriage is filled with violence and fear.Their meeting happens on a train and nothing is the same after.
This book kept me up all night reading. The pages flew by filled with so many emotions for the reader. I found myself sad, angry, and wanting revenge. Will be looking for more from this author.

Beth is no victim. Cath is weak and, definitely, a victim. Surprisingly, they lead parallel lives . . . until they converge.

Beth admits to Evan that she is in love with someone else. Evan is uncharacteristically silent, except for saying something akin to “you’ll be sorry.” Even is not going to just let her walk away from him.

Saul is not going to let Cath walk away either. She is his even if he has to beat her bloody and broken until she understands.

The Stranger’s Wife unfolds little by little and keeps you guessing until the end. It switches POV between Beth, Cath and Detective Daniel Riley. This is a bit confusing at first because it also bounces back and forth from 2018 to 2019. Once you find the rhythm, though, it works.

I enjoyed the author’s ability to foreshadow without revealing the twists or surprises.

This is two stories in one and the author skillfully weaves them together. The characters are very well written and I found I was actually rooting for one of the murderers to get away with it! I wasn't aware that this was part of a series of books, but it was so well written that it stood well as a stand-alone. I am looking forward to reading more books by this author, including any in this series
