Omg I loved this book and I'm so glad there are more, I see a binge coming in my future. Trying had to stay in the friend zone despite his growing feelings for his childhood best friend Reece is trying to help his good friend and boss save his bar. Jenna has recently returned from California and the feelings between them are growing fast. This is a hot sexy romance that sets up the stories for the next 11 books. As Jenna has the idea to create a calendar of hot men from the area by throwing a party a month to help pick the winner for each months calendar page. Jenna would love for the men who run the bar they are trying to save to be part of it none of them want to show off their ripped bodies for the masses. Although Jenna might get her wish after all when her and Reece get a little closer than just friends.

Friends to lovers is one of my favorite kinds of stories so I decided to give this a try. I haven’t read this author since she became J Kenner. And if this book is a good example, I’ll be reading a lot more of J Kenner because I completely enjoyed Down On Me.

The premise is a little like an old Mickey Rooney “Let’s Put On A Show” movie. The group of friends need to save the bar from the mean old private investor, and the show is a calendar contest within a reality show about fixing up the bar. The people in the book are what really make the story, and I can’t wait to read more about them. There are a lot more books to come, and I can’t wait.

OH. MY. I seriously need to sit in front of my fan right now to cool off. This was down right hot and dirty and everything I could possibly need from a book right now.

There are three best friends, Jenna, Reece, and Brent. They’ve made a pact that they will always be friends and always be there for each other. They are each other’s family. Well Jenna leaves for a job out in LA and then 8 months later comes back because it fell through. But something happened the night before Jenna left. Was it for the best or the worst? READ THIS BOOK.

I cannot lie about how much this book made me want to squirm. It was amazing. And Reece. Ha. That man on the cover? Damn they did a good job picking him out. This character is by far one of my favorites I’ve ever read about. It’s not just about the heat though. The story is incredible. I felt so relatable to the characters. It drew me in from the very beginning and I never wanted it to stop. Please please please go read this. FAN-FREAKING-TASTIC.

A huge thank you to Netgalley for sending me this book for review. I’m officially in love with Reece’s character and already want to dive back in.

I want to start off to say that I really enjoy Kenner's books, but like with anyone else, there are just some books that are not going to tickle your fancy. And this book definitely was hard for me to read. So much that I got to the point where I stopped reading it. It's impossible for an author to write a book that you will love every time they release a book (especially with the volume of books that Kenner writes).

There are parts that I like. The characters are fun and I know that each of them are likely to get their own love story. Some of the characters I believe I will like their stories when I get to read them, but this one was hard for me to get into. It should also be noted that I am also not a fan of best friends turn loves kind of story. So if this is the kind of book you like, then you will enjoy it. It's heavy on the angst and longing because both Reece and Jenna have had feelings for one another but neither want to ruin their friendship.

I had a hard time getting to connect to the characters. There was nothing redeeming or entertaining about them that captured my attention and made me want to keep reading. There wasn't a lot of those scenes that are hard to read (for example Jenna having a boyfriend and Reece wanting her but supporting her at the same time). Those scenes are hard to read, but in a good way. You are rooting for Reece and just want to see them together. But that wasn't the case for me. Not bad to read for a low price, but wouldn't pay much for it.

I loved this book! It was an easy read that wasn’t too predictable! The male lead character is so lovable that you are rooting for him from the start!

The cover is ... gorgeousssss.
J. Kenner is a talented author that i've followed for awhile, so I was excited to read Down On Me.
Down On Me starts off the "Man of the Month" series with Mr. January.
I'd consider this a friends to lover romance with the perfect amount of chemistry and romance.
I can't read to read the rest of the series.

Down on me J Kenner.

Reece is a confirmed bachelor who manages a bar in Austin. He discovers that the bar is having financial problems he has a few ideas to help solve them. His dark secret is he has serious feelings for Jenna Montgomery who is one of his two best friends from childhood so he can’t have. She moved to LA to work a year before on the eve of moving Jenna got drunk and the pair got hot and steamy leaving Reece very bothered. His saving grace is he thinks Jenna doesn’t remember but she does and is equally bothered by it. Jenna's job falls through & she returns home. As marketing is her forte she helps market the bar up to its profile and encourages its large customer base to help them bring in money & up its profile instead of closing down which no one wants! They decide on doing a hunky calendar holding contests for the men to apply for the ‘picture of the month’ and then the fun begins.

Light hearted book enjoyable read

Down on Me is the first book in J. Kenner’s Man of the Month series, and it’s a wonderful start to what promises to be a collection of novels that will grip me until they are all out. I have to admit that the cover is initially what grabbed me about this book, but then the synopsis also got my attention.

This is the story of Reece Walker and Jenna Montgomery.
Reece, Jenna and Brent have been best friends since school. But Reece and Jenna have been starting to feel more than friendship. Reece has acknowledge it to himself but doesn't want to ruin their friendship.

I can't wait for more books in this series to come out!

Bachelor Reese Walker wants two things in life - to save his bar and to be with Jenna Montgomery. They have been friends since childhood but recently he can’t ignore that fact he wants more. After an unexpected kiss changes everything between them they find that change is hard but it can lead to happiness.

These two were a pretty good couple. I enjoyed both of their characters, mostly. Reese is a sexy bartender with no expectations of a permanent relationship. He knows that marriage is a shame and nothing will change his mind. His constant negativity about marriage was a little annoying after a while. Jenna was smart and very resourceful at planning events. I liked her but I thought it was annoying that she instantly pushed for marriage (I wont say more than that because it will be spoilers).

Overall, I did enjoy the book and would be willing to read more from this author.

Book 1 in the Man of the Month series and it as a good read. I have read her books before so I was happy to read another. A friends to lovers’ romance about Reece and Jenna. They were such a good couple. Loved the attraction and the chemistry that they had for and with each other.

I received an ARC of this book from NetGalley and I am voluntarily leaving an honest review.

Down on Me in the first book in the Man of Month series. Certified bachelor Reece Walker wants two things — to save the local bar he manages and to get Jenna Montgomery into his bed. He has a few ideas for the bar. But Jenna... well, he’s going to have to rely on cold showers, because she’s been his best friend for years, and that’s a line he just can’t cross. Until one wild kiss on a dark night changes everything. Now Reece is certain Jenna’s meant to be his. And with long nights in bed, sensual caresses, and deep, lingering kisses, he sets out to thoroughly convince her that friends can be lovers, too.

I really enjoy the premise of this book. I like that these friends are all coming together to save their beloved hangout. They come up with this Man of the Month calendar to raise the funds needed to save the bar. And every month they run a contest to declare the Man of the Month. This story was quick and steamy. I really enjoy the friends to lovers trope and this one was perfect. I can't wait to read the rest of the books in the series!

I received a copy to read and give my honest opinion.

I love this author but this book didn’t really suck me in. Friends to lovers.

What did I like? I loved that they were doing the calendar to save the bar called The Fix. It held a lot of memories for Brent, Reece and Jenna, so trying to save it was a no brained.

Would I buy or recommend? It’s currently free on Amazon I believe but free is worth a try and it is part of a series. Just personally didn’t enjoy it.

Thoughts for the author? Hoping the series warms up❤️

3.5 save the bar! stars

A fun start to a new series where the central cast of characters are trying to save the bar they love. Honestly, it peaks my 80's lovin' heart at the nod of break dancing/winning the ski competition/ having a rager/ car wash... making a beef-cake calendar to save the rec center, err... I mean bar.

I have generally a love relationship with friends to lovers trope..... Buuuuuut.... sometimes.... sometimes there is just too much Feeling already established that I feel you miss the chemistry sparkle sizzle dance. (<--- I might copyright that). I understood the background, but I felt like I was a stranger on the outside and didn't totally get everything that was going on with Jenna and Reese.

Some people had their knickers in a twist over the opening pages featuring Reece and another woman. He was basically trying to bang someone else to quell his firey feelings for his forbidden love (his BFF, Jenna). He's a boy, boy's do stupid things. The chick, Megan was cool. She was totally a non-issue later, no type of OW drama became of it. Just, boys are dumb and do dumb things, move on.

Down on me was a fun romp into this squad's little area of Austin as they battle out the big corporation/bad guys to save their 'rec' center (aka bar, The Fix). While I felt a bit disconnected from this couple's story, I am looking forward to the Mr. February!

Loved this book.
Jenna, Brent and Reece have been best friends forever, through thick and thin. But will their friendship survive when Reece and Jenna fall into bed together? Losing the friendship would be devastating, but not being with Reece would be worse. Can the three work together to save their friend’s bar and find a way to live together happily ever after?
Looking forward to more in this series. Great characters and well developed plot.
