A Perfect Cornish Escape was another fab book by Phillipa Ashley. Two people with different stories to tell. Marina has spent the last seven years mourning her husband who was lost at sea and her cousin Tiff who arrives after losing her job for a London newspaper. A great read.

I’d like to escape to Cornwall ASAP! The way the town is described makes you want to pack a bag, jump on the next flight and then walk for miles and miles along the coast.

But not too close or you might need the help of the “Wave Watchers”. Thanks to Marina, whose husband disappeared in the water 7 years ago, there’s a dedicated team patrolling the rough coastline. She’s hesitant to love but when she meets mysterious Lachlan she’s willing to get her feet wet.

Tiff reconnects with her cousin Marina in Cornwall after the loss of her job and a relationship where she’s been used and discarded. At first she and “Dirk the jerk” butt heads because of their similar personalities but that quickly turns into a mutual physical relationship but love blossoms along the way.

Marina and Lachlan’s relationship is more conservative. They’re attracted to one another and slowly build a foundation for love. Tiff and Dirk almost immediately jump to the physical and their love blossoms along the way.

This is a light romance read that’s very PG 13 on love scenes.

While the storyline is a bit predictable, it’s sweet. It’s a great casual read so you’re not emotionally spent by the end of it.

Thanks to Netgalley for the opportunity to review this book.

Seven years ago, Marina Hudson’s husband was lost at sea. She vowed to love Nate for the rest of her life – but when kind-hearted Lachlan arrives in Porthmellow, should she deny herself another chance at happiness?

I didn't realise that this was part of a series, but don't worry as it's ok to read as a standalone. Read it while I was on staycation in Cornwall, so fully embraced the area and the people and really enjoyed the book.

Pleasant enough, standard chick lit, nicely written with a fairly predictable ending, no surprises here.

I very much enjoyed this book. It has a good story and excellent main characters. I would definately recommend this book.

Seeing as I could not escape to Cornwall for my usual break this year, I'm even more in need of a fictional Cornish fix. This fits the bill perfectly, a lively story, with Cornwall working its magic on two rather jaded women. Highly recommended.

A great feel good holiday book. It is the third in the series but can be read as a total standalone. I enjoyed the books and the twists involved. The characters were great and easy to follow. I would love to read more on these books, a very pleasurable warming read.

Sorry for the late feedback, and Thankyou for an advance copy. This is part of a series, but I didn’t realise and read this without the other. You can read it alone though. I loved it and the characters, and would love it to go on and hope there’s a follow up!

I loved this book so much. I gave up pressure sleeping hours just to see what happened. I loved the characters and the beautiful English village. Such a wonderful entry into the series.

A delightful read in a series I did not know existed but I am not very interested in hunting down more of the series. Characters, atmosphere, and a well crafted mystery all combine for a delightful summer read under the late afternoon sun.

This book was a lovely read set in Cornwall and part of the Porthmellow series although you don’t need to read the other books but I would recommend them. A book about relationships, friends and family. Phillipa’s Books are always heartwarming reads and I would you really never want to get to the end of them.

Thank you to Netgalley and everyone involved for allowing me to read and review this lovely book.

The main character felt a little too saccharine for my taste, and the tale sorta fell flat, too. It just didn't grab my attention and make me want to find out what happened throughout and to any of the characters

This is the first book I have read by Phillips Ashley but it won’t be the last, Cornwall is one of my favourite counties and this author did a great descriptive job with Porthmellow and I really felt like I was visiting family and friends in this beautiful village. This is book 3 and I haven’t read the previous books so I can honestly say this can be read as a stand-alone.
This is a story about two people at a crossroad in their lives, neither looking for a relationship, both dealing with the bumps in the road life has given them. Will a chance meeting pull them together or will their pasts push them apart, sometimes we need someone else to prove how strong we can be.....
A beautifully written romance with twists and turns you won’t see coming and you will certainly be on the edge of your seat through this entertaining read. If you love romance pick up this gem

I loved this book! Full of romance, humour and some drama,. I love Phillipa's style of writing, but I did come away from this book with a lot of Cornwall-envy! This is a must for anybody who loves a good, easy read! I hope there's a follow-up book!

I found this to be an engrossing read. Apart from the fact that it really was a great escape to immerse myself in Cornwall, I also loved the back story with its links to the sea and the emergency services. There are several people in this story who are 'escaping to Cornwall' and Marina herself has tried to shut out the horror of what has happened to her with the disappearance of her husband.

The community feeling in Porthmellow really comes over and I love the slightly quirky characters who you meet in this story. In addition, the main characters are all rounded characters with their own histories. You have a really strong sense of the setting at all times and in some ways, the setting is always present throughout the story. For a lovely Summer read with great characters and an eventful plot, I can recommend this read.

Thanks to the author for a copy of the book

What a charming read! Delightful beach reading. I really enjoyed the banter between Marina and Tiff. And now I want to go to Cornwall.

Many thanks to NetGalley, the publisher, and the author for my ARC. All opinions are my own.

I loved returning to Porthmellow for Phillipa Ashley’s third book in this series. The story has some old characters but follows new people so it can be read out of sequence with the others. The characters all have complex back stories. This book kept me entertained following them through loss, love and life. I enjoyed being transported to Cornwall in this easy read.
Thanks to Netgalley and Phillipa Ashley for the e book copy.

Can you tell I’m on a bit of a contemporary fiction drive at the moment. I’m flying through books at the moment – I even hit my (2nd) Goodreads goal of 75 books this week. I gave myself the task of levelling out my Netgalley percentage as it was, and still is, veering on the edge of appalling at the moment and I needed to fix that pronto. One of the ARCs that I received on there in around May was A Perfect Cornish Escape by Phillipa Ashley. I’ve never read anything by Phillipa before, but as a lover of Victoria Walters and Jo Thomas, I had high hopes for a similarly themed story like this one.

A Perfect Cornish Escape by Phillipa Ashley

A Perfect Cornish Escape by Phillipa Ashley Book Review

I’ve never been to Cornwall, but with all the stunning contemporary romances set there, it’s definitely on my ‘to do’ list. Like, right now. A Perfect Cornish Escape is, needless to say, a story set in Cornwall and follows cousins Marina and Tiff. Marina is Cornwall born and raised, whilst Tiff has been living in London as a journalist until she was fired and dumped, pretty much all in one fell swoop. Tiff then moves to Cornwall to stay with her cousin, bagging a writing job at a local print to keep herself busy. She meets one of the locals, Dirk and is instantly dismayed by him – he’s grouchy, he’s dark and he’s incredibly attractive.

On the other hand, Marina is going through equally as tough a time, seven years after her beloved husband was lost at sea, she finally feels ready to move on and start filing proceedings relating to his death. When Scottish Lachlan moves into the area, Marina sees it as an opportunity to spend time someone who cares about the same things as she does. Needless to say, it might be more than likeminded conversation that blossoms between the pair.

Read this book if you’re looking for joy and happiness

If you’re not a fan of cheesy contemporary romances, then this book will not be for you. It is INCREDIBLE cheesy and romantic – arguably too cheesy sometimes, but who am I to complain? I absolutely adored this story – I loved the setting of Cornwall and the relationships that formed between the girls and their respective male, as well as the relationship between Marina and Tiff; it’s clear to the audience that they are very closed and have each other’s best interests at heart. Marina’s voluntary role as a lookout over the beaches and the sea is very admirable, coming as a result of her husband’s accident – the cause is clearly very important to her and that’s expressed so well in the story.

Apparently this book is the third in the series, but I’d argue that you definitely don’t have to read the other two before getting stuck into this one. The characters and their roles were easy to manoeuvre through and everything came together beautifully in the end – a definitely must-read for lovers of contemporary romance.
