I was given a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review of the story.

Fast, smooth read.

The storyline progresses quickly through the characters Lucy and kitty meeting. Almost impossibly soon, they fall into lust, business partnership and then love.

Throughout the plot, you learn of Kitty's career obsession, her strained relationship with her parents and her yearning to be something else.

Lucy has less angst and is too good to be true - an artist at heart, patient, understanding and steady.

This is a sweet story that I recommend for light reading.

I would like to read more of these characters

2 1/2 Stars.

The romance was okay. The story was okay. My biggest issue was this is told in dual 1st POV but the POV switches were not labeled so I would have to go back and reread parts to figure out whose head I was in. This obviously messed with the reading flow a lot. Also: the pacing was a bit uneven, especially towards the last 1/3 or so.

I might try this author again.

Alyssa Linn Palmer has written a beautiful, feel good romance with her book City Kitty and Country Mouse. This story also had me reading it with a bowl of blackberries and raspberries on my desk which I nibbled on as I read. I’m sure they aren’t as good as the ones in the tale.

This book tells the story of two very different people who come together and fall in love. But is love enough when you have such different lives? Kitty is a corporate lawyer in Calgary who is totally focused on making partner in her firm, to the point she works every waking moment and has no personal life. Lucy runs the family farm, Country Mouse, located about an hour’s drive outside the big city. When the two meet, there is instant attraction, but their lives are so very different, and Kitty is focused on her job. It seems impossible for the two to become a couple even with that strong attraction.

I was very impressed with how the author developed Kitty in this novel. She begins as this almost robot-like person, totally focused on her work and her obsession with becoming partner. She has no life before she meets Lucy, and even after they meet, she still worries about her job. I really enjoyed watching Kitty slowly realize what she is missing in life.

The setting, especially the farm, is lovely and well described. I sometimes wondered about how fast the two came together as a couple, but it does work in the overall tale. I loved Lucy’s mom and hearing about how she immigrated to Canada as a young bride. Knowing that story actually helps the readers understand Lucy’s character.

I was a bit surprised at how quickly Kitty and Lucy became intimate in the tale. It happened very quickly, but it worked, so I guess I shouldn’t complain.
I enjoyed reading City Kitty and Country Mouse. If you like to read romances that make you feel good when you read them, then you night like this one as well. Just make sure you have some fruit to nibble on as you read. I suggest organic blackberries, strawberries, and raspberries.

There was nothing groundbreaking here but this book was just very sweet and adorable. I definitely enjoyed reading it. It was really well written and descriptive, I definitely had some food cravings reading this book. All the characters including the supporting ones were just so fun. I'd classify this as a light read, there is low angst and drama, so for some this might not be a particularly exciting read.

Surprisingly it was a great read. Usually when I don't know the author, I'm a little bit hesitant to dedicate time in a book, but this one intrigued my from the cover and the description.
The attraction between Kitty and Lucy was instant which is something I usually don't enjoy as much , but in this case that didn't bother me at all, it actually felt natural.
I loved the fact that even though Lucy and Kitty were polar opposites, the creation of their restaurant helped them grow closer and finally have their own happily ever after.

The only thing that slightly bothered me were all these cooking recipes and descriptions of foods that went on for entire pages.

Overall, highly recommended.

Loved This One
Lucy is a happy woman who lives with her mother and owns Country Mouse Farms. She sells her produce at farmer’s markets and welds sculptures out of scrap metal in her spare time. On one market day, a regular customer brings her boss along. The woman can’t stop looking at her phone but when she is offered a blackberry something magical happens…She is suddenly totally focused on the fruit and Lucy… Kitty is a high powered lawyer whose only goal in life is to make partner. As a result, she works her tail off day and night, and weekends too. After tasting that blackberry and meeting the lovely Lucy, her life begins to change and soon her dreams are of a different kind of partnership.

I adored the heck out of this book! It was so well written and descriptive. I’m not really giving anything away by telling you there was a lot of Chinese food being cooked in this story and it was so well told that I HAD to have Chinese for dinner because I couldn’t get the thoughts out of my head!! I loved the characters in this story, not just Lucy and Kitty, although they were wonderful, but Mrs. Shen, her friend and of course Kitty’s assistant, all so much fun and such a big part of the story. The romance was beautiful and OMG, the sexy bits… even better than the cooking and that is saying a LOT! I loved the farm setting as well but I am a country mouse at heart. This is definitely worth the read!!

The concept of this romance is very interesting. City girl meets country girl, they are attracted to one another and begin this hot affair. Kitty is a busy lawyer trying to make partner in her firm. Her friend and assistant makes her get out of the office and that is where she meets Lucy who is selling her fruit and produce at the market. The story kicks off from there.

I really did like the beginning of the story where the two mains meet and they begin this hot affair. Where the story get a little slow for me is when they decide to open a restaurant.I kept asking myself, why would they do this. They barely know one another. The whole thing was a little weird and it where the story drags for me. Though they are likable, it just wasn't enough to keep me from being a little bored with the story. Sure it was still a decent read, I just needed more excitement. There is some angst in the end and I thought that it helped to bring some excitement back to the story line.

Overall, there really wasn't anything to make this one stand out. I will rate it 3 stars.

The clichéd lesbian U-Hauling is not necessarily about actual moving in together at the speed of light but more about the sonic speed attachments formed by lesbians. This one is actually about that but written so well that it doesn’t seem like the cliché but rather like not only inevitable but actually the only way the relationship between the MCs should actually develop.

Lucy Shen owns Country Mouse Farms and grows a multitude of fruits, greens and vegetables. She sells her produce at various farmer’s markets and has quite a reputation. Kitty Kerr, a lawyer-working-her-ass-off-to-become-partner happens to visit Lucy’s stall at one of the markets. One bite of a Country Mouse blackberry has her hooked not only to the produce but also the producer. Kitty visits Lucy’s farm for a dekko around the place and the simmering attraction between them flares to life. With common interest in cooking, they have a pie-in-the-sky idea of starting a restaurant together. As their attachment to each other develops, the idea of the restaurant also starts concretizing. Kitty life and priorities begin including Lucy and the restaurant (Ming Kitty) in addition to her long-standing dream of making partner. But Kitty drops the ball at work and has to step back from her burgeoning personal life.

The usual trajectory of a city-girl-country-girl trope is a harshness about the city girl which is softened by the country girl. It was lovely to see that there are no hard edges to Kitty. Just a lot of baggage carried over from her growing up years and a conditioning into certain ways of being. Lucy is a beautiful complement to Kitty. Individually they are both nice and together they are a great couple. The speed of the relationship development (they have sex in their very second meeting) could’ve jarred but Palmer writes enough about their emotions to make it seem natural rather than warp speed. We also loved that neither shy away from what is growing between them and are more than willing to follow their emotions rather than fight them or worry about time and timing. What really works to make the U-Haul absolutely believable is the fact Lucy is in her mid-forties and Kitty close to forty (or maybe she is already forty?). The age factor justifies the speed of their attachment because by then you’ve usually stopped bullshitting and aren’t willing to waste time. A lot of time is spent with Lucy and Kitty cooking but those are serious bonding times and very interesting.

This is an unhurried romance for a mellow evening.

I didn't know how much I needed a meet-cute that starts at a farmer's market until this point. Such a lovely writing style and romance between Lucy and Kitty.

There is so much to love about this book. The writing quality, especially for a newer author is outstanding, although it took me a little while to adjust to the alternating first person style which changed mid chapter between Kitty and Lucy. The descriptions of the food vegetables, fruits, and Chinese/Western creations left me wanting to enjoy what left these characters so enraptured. Their backgrounds filled my curiosity about cultures and professions that I don't have a lot of experience with myself.

Their relationship was fast to develop after they met at the farmer's market, but it continued to grow especially with Kitty's visits to Lucy and her mother, Michelle's farm.

Finally, the book cover was a nice attraction point to draw in a potential reader. Overall I give this book 4.5 stars and would recommend it to fellow readers.

Okay. There was so so much food in this. Both dishes as well as fruits and veggies. I was a little overwhelmed and honestly, a lot of the different dishes went over my head or in one ear and out the other. Sorta like background noise. Probably not what the author intended.

It's the story of Kitty and Lucy. Kitty is a lawyer who is trying to make partner, but, before, when she was younger, she wanted to be a Chef. Lucy is the owner of the Country Mouse farm. She meets Kitty at a farmer's market when Kitty's friend and paralegal Cindy take her. They quickly get closer and find themselves coming up with a plan to do a Pop-Up fusion restaurant. Of course, their path is not quite smooth when it comes to their relationship or their restaurant.

I indicated one of my biggest problems at the beginning of the review, and I'll end with something I thought was done so well. I really, really liked and very much appreciated that the writer didn't demonize the hard worker, Kitty, in this story. It was so refreshing (after reading some other books where the hard worker who liked her work came off as wrong and evil for having the audacity to want to do what she was doing). That didn't happen here and I was so happy about that. There was no assumption that Kitty was wrong, and, because of that, it made the ending work so well. When it comes to these lawyer (or doctor, or other inside worker who has to work long hours to get ahead) vs. farmer or other more 'earthy' character, this is the best ending that I've read with that trope! (And, yeah, I'll admit that I gave it an entire star because it treated Kitty with such respect in the narrative).

I received an ARC copy of this book from the Publisher via Netgalley and voluntarily leaving my review.

Kitty is a big city lawyer who is work focus on becoming a partner at the law firm she works at. When her colleague and friend Cindy bring her to the farmer market and introduce Lucy who owns Country Mouse Farms with her partner Alice who produce amazing fruits and vegetables . When Kitty taste her blackberries she fall in love with them and find herself attract to Lucy.

Lucy takes care of her mother and she also sculpture in her spare times she doesn't like anyone to see them because she fears what others will say but when Kitty comes to visit the farm and see some of them she shock herself in letting her see more.

Ok Kitty and Lucy do fall quickly each for other but I didn't mind it because they both bring things out of each other they haven't thought of doing before.

Ohhh such a cute F/F romance! I just got so attached to both of them!

Blurb: Kitty is a high-flying lawyer when her career plans are derailed by the luscious blackberries from Lucy Shen’s Country Mouse Farms. Kitty can’t get enough of the fruit, or of Lucy. Suddenly, she’s wanting things she never dared to want—Lucy, and the life on the farm. But how will being an artisan cook/farmer fit with her legal ambitions and city habits? Between her beautiful farm and her sculpture, Lucy’s life is set. Falling for a big city lawyer is not part of the plan. Pulled in two different directions, will the city kitty and country mouse be able to make it work?

I just got pulled in straight away. The characters were so well written and lovely, without being cookie cutter style. I got sucked into the story telling and could really associate with Kitty and her stressful anxiety ridden city lifestyle! Who doesn’t dream of the hot farmer that can take you away and make your life better ... just by being who they are. Sigh. Of course it’s not a plain sailing for our couple. It never is and it makes the HEA so much sweeter

4.5 STARS ROUNDED UPTO 5 STARS

I RECEIVED AN ARC COPY OF THE BOOK FROM THE PUBLISHER VIA NEGALLEY AND VOLUNTARILY LEAVING MY REVIEW.

MS PALMER IS A NEW AUTHOR TO ME. THIS YEAR THE LIST OF NEW AUTHORS SEEMS TO GROW AND GROW.

KITTY IS A LAWYER WHO IS AIMING TO BECOME A PARTNER IN THE FIRM SHE WORKS FOR. SHE ALSO LOVES THE BLACKBERRIES SHE BUYS FROM LUCY AT THE FARMERS MARKET.

LUCY OWNS A FARM SHE RUNS WITH HER MOTHER AND FRIEND ALICE. SHE ALSO IS A SCULPTURE IN ANY SPARE TIME SHE HAS.

I REALLY ENJOYED THIS BOOK. LUCY AND KITTY MEET AT A FARMERS MARKET WHERE LUCY IS SELLING HER PRODUCE AND KITTY IS TAGGING ALONG WITH HER FRIEND CINDY WHO ALSO is HER ASSISTANT AT WORK. WHEN THEY MEET THERE IS INSTANT ATTRACTION FOR THE OTHER. I ENJOYED THE STORY LINE. I LOVED THE MAIN CHARACTERS. LUCY I WOULD SAY WAS MY FAVOURITE. I LIKED THEM BOTH FROM START TO FINISH, AT THE BEGINNING THE PACE WAS A BIT FAST FOR MY LIKING BUT IT EVENED ITSELF OUT AS THE STORY PROGRESSED. THERE WAS ALSO A GOOD BUNCH OF SECONDARY CHARACTERS. MICHELLE (LUCY'S MOTHER) IS ONE OF MY FAVOURITES ALONG WITH CINDY.

I WOULD HIGHLY RECOMMEND GIVING THIS ONE A READ. IT IS ONE THAT I COULD RE-READ OVER AND OVER AGAIN.
