Now I am a big fan of Karin Slaughter but I had difficulty reading this novel because of the graphic content towards women. Apart from this some of it was really slow with too much talk. And as for Sara and Will really! What a boring couple. Just get married for goodness sake
Much preferred her former husband. Even if he was a very bad boy!

The Silent Wife is an absolutely gripping thriller with my two favourite characters Will Trent and Sarah Linton.
A serial killer is on the loose but the man who was tried and found guilty says he has evidence to prove he was framed by Sara’s previous husband Jeffrey who was chief of police, because of some evidence he has they start to look into the previous abductions and murders and discover there are too many similarities to murders of young girls that have occurred since the incarceration of this man.
This takes us back to Grant County where the story weaves beautifully between present and the past when newly divorced Sara and her ex were involved in investigating the first two victims. The tension builds up continually, the description of what the victims are subjected to is horrific and unflinching but not in a gratuitous way, rather it is heartbreaking to know how they suffered and how determined all those involved in the past and present cases do all they possibly can to find out who this evil killer is.
Within this story of violence, abduction rape and torture though is a beautiful love story and although it is almost an aside from the main story it has such depth you’re pulled into it as well as everything else cheering Will on and wanting nothing but the best for Sara.
At the end of the book in the authors note (do not read until end !) she writes..I love Will and have made him earn Sara’s love, she certainly has but in a deep abiding way so that you know this man who has had a such a hard life now has someone who loves him deeply.
Anther brilliant book from this author, and having read all her book over the last 19 years I have to say this for me was her best, though I wait the next one with great anticipation.
My thanks to net galley and publisher for the opportunity to review this book honestly.

Karin Slaughter always delivers on pulse-quickening thrillers and this was no different.

How do I even start to review this book? I promised myself that go would not read past 1 am but this book was so dark and so engrossing that I lost track of time and just kept reading. The GBI have been tracking a rapist turned murderer and finally imprisoned a man called Daryl Nesbitt .After Agent WIll Trent and Sara Linton the Medical Examiner are called to the prison when an inmate is murdered, Nesbitt asks to speak to them and says he is innocent and that Sara's dead husband Jeffrey Tolliver and Police Officer Lana Adams ran a corrupt investigation . Then another body is found and then another and the GBI have to start looking again at all the cases where there has never been DNA or any clues. The story flips backwards and forwards between Jeffrey Tolliver and the present day while the murderer is increasing his kills The details of the victim's injuries were so graphic that they made my eyes water, but they were always necessary to the story and never gratuitous. The autopsies and medical examinations were obviously well researched. I intend to read the earlier Will Trent stories and Sara's too when she was married to Jeffrey (twice).. Really enjoyed this book.
I received an ARC in return for a review.

The 10th book in the Will Trent Series and it definitely doesn’t disappoint. All the characters the authors fans love are there, Will, Sarah, Faith, Amanda, Lena and Jeffrey. If you are u familiar with the series this book is a brilliant stand alone read. It’s a fast paced read, the pages turn themselves.
Very cleverly written, going back and forth, linking together a series of utterly horrendous vile crimes, woman have been brutally assaulted and murdered. A dark twisty, tangled intriguing tale, I could feel the chill in the air in the forest and smell the blood.
Will and Sarah’s relationship gets tested as the case develops
This is a 5 star read - brilliant.
Thanks to Net Galley and Harper Collins UK for an ARC of this book in exchange for a review and to Karin Slaughter for so brilliantly keeping her fans reading.

I am addicted to the Will Trent series. I love it. I love the characters, the twisty plots, the constant high tension that spills through the pages, and Karin Slaughter’s sharp prose captures you and doesn’t let you go. When my request on NetGalley was accepted (thank you so much HarperCollins) I read it right away and finished it in less than two days.

A prison riot leads Will Trent to an eight-year-old case about the murder of young women. The killer had been caught and he’s jail, but now he has proofs of his innocence so Will and the GBI have no choice but to reopen the case. The problem? The lead investigator in the old case is none other than Grant County Chief of Police, Jeffery Tolliver, the late husband of Sarah Linton, Will girlfriend and GBI pathologist. So, with a narrative that switches between present day Atlanta and Grant County a decade earlier, we see doctor Sarah Linton’s two loves trying to find the man behind the horrific murders of young women around Georgia.

I had high expectations before going into this novel and they were met and much much more. The gripping and riveting plot made me want to race through the pages and get to the brilliant and perfect ending. I loved how the protagonists’ personal lives merge with the cases (both in the past and in the present). If you’ve read the Grant County series you will recognize some of the characters and there are new ones that will keep you engrossed. Of course, Will and Sarah’s relationship is affected by this blast from the past and they have a few obstacles to go through, but I love how they develop throughout the story.

The Silent Wife is twisty, suspenseful, compelling, graphic, and at times emotional and a fantastic new addiction to this series. Once again, Karin Slaughter proved that she is the master of suspense. So, do yourself a favour and buy a copy of this thrilling read… you won’t regret it!

Never having picked up a Karin Slaughter novel before I was expecting a routine Serial killer thriller. I was wrong. It was actually a hurtle backwards and forwards in time. Dr Sara Linton is a sympathetic heroine and her story alternates between her two loves: Jeffrey Tolliver and Will Trent. At the heart of this gruesome detective/forensic tale is a more serious dissection of violence against women and Slaughter’s victims and survivors have their voices heard.

‘The Silent Wife’ is the latest book in the Will Trent series by Karin Slaughter.

A woman runs alone in the woods. She convinces herself she has no reason to be afraid, but she’s wrong. A predator is stalking the women of Grant County. He lingers in the shadows, until the time is just right to snatch his victim. A decade later, the case has been closed. The killer is behind bars. But then another young woman is brutally attacked and left for dead, and the MO is identical. Although the original trail has gone cold – memories have faded, witnesses have disappeared – agent Will Trent and forensic pathologist Sara Linton must re-open the cold case. But the clock is ticking, and the killer is determined to find his perfect silent wife….

It’s hard to believe but ‘The Silent Wife’ is the first book that I’ve read by Karin Slaughter. Even though, she’s been writing for twenty years and this is her tenth book in the Will Trent, I’m a novice to her books, and this latest book is quite the eye opener.

The story is written in the past and present tense over a ten year period whilst a serial murderer and rapist is preying upon poor women. Will Trent is investigating the cases with his girlfriend and pathologist Dr Sara Linton and in the past tense, Jeffery who is Sara’s ex husband is investigating the cases. During that time, Jeffery has died and Sara and Will are trying to piece the evidence before another woman is targeted.

Even though, I’ve never read a Karin Slaughter book, I’ve seen her speak at Murder One Crime Festival and she was fascinating to listen to. Karin works closely with police and their investigations and the disturbing thing about her stories is that they are based on true crime events and this latest story is horrific. Graphic scenes of sexual abuse, torture and gore made this book unsettling reading but also fascinating in an equal measure.

As the story is part of a series, Karin cleverly includes brief background on the characters, but not enough to give away vital information, should the reader want to delve into earlier books.

The story is thoroughly researched with police procedures and it’s obvious that Karin worked closely with the police to tightly hone the story and the flashbacks between past and present are all weaved seamlessly together to make it a thrilling story.

‘The Silent Wife’ is a gruesome crime thriller that makes for gory reading. Filled with graphic scenes of sexual abuse and murder, this book isn’t for the faint hearted and should maybe come with a warming as the descriptive scenes could possibly trigger a person. With shocking and brutal scenes, ‘The Silent Wife’ is a twisted and dark tale that delivers a story of savagery that will thrill and shock the readers in equal measure.

You can buy ‘The Silent Wife’ from Amazon and is available to buy from good bookshops.

Karin has done it again! Another fast paced, gritty, thrilling read. I love Sara and Will, and the way Karin brings them to life book after book is astonishing. I loved having Jeffrey back as a character too, it felt like he was still alive.
Not only was the story very gruesome in places, I also got very emotional at the end.
The Silent Wife was exhaustingly excellent to read and I am so glad that more of Sara and Will lies ahead.

I started reading this book and thought, for some reason, I’m not going to enjoy this, but how wrong was I?! Once I settled in and got reading, I seriously got into this book and was hooked right until the last page. This story is totally immersive and intense. The detail in the characters and the story is something else. If you enjoy crime thrillers then you’ll love this.

A young woman is found left for dead in the woods, her attacker found and behind bars but then years later another women is brutally attacked and left for dead and the MO is identical. Agent Will Trent and forensic pathologist Sara Linton have to reopen the cold case, opening old wounds and memories along the way. But time is ticking as it is only a matter time before the killer strikes again.

A young student is out running but feels someone is watching her, watching and waiting.
Ten years later with the killer behind bars, another young woman is attacked in exactly the same way.
Will Trent and forensic pathologist Sara Linton must re-open the case but can they solve it before another murder is committed.
This is a gripping book that will keep you guessing to the end.

As expected this was a brilliant book! Karin Slaughter’s characters have so much depth to them. The plot was excellent and had a surprising twist. I couldn’t put the book down & would highly recommend it especially to Sara Linton & Will Trent fans.

I’m a Johnny come lately to this Will Trent series and thoroughly enjoyed it.
Set in modern day Georgia it has strong characters, complex storyline, ebbs and flows in the pace.
The story starts with a riot in prison and a dead inmate. Eager to discover the truth GBI investigator Will Trent meets with an inmate Darryl Nesbitt who says he can help him smash a smuggling ring and identify the murderer if Will helps him Investigate his ‘wrongful conviction’
Sarah Linton, the M.E. /Will’s girlfriend is brought in to help with the investigation into a series of murders which have happened since Darryl’s incarceration and supposed police corruption involving Jeffrey Tolliver, Sarah’s dead husband.
Great read.

Well before I start, I have to confess to reading all the books in this series. I even started from book one again before reading this and found myself crying in the same places I did the first time around!!

The GBI are investigating the murder of an prison inmate Jesus Vasquez, who was murdered in a riot. Fellow inmate Daryl Nesbit claims he is innocent of his crimes of sexual assaults and murders. He claims he was set up by the police and that the perpetrator is still committing crimes. He will tell them who killed Jesus if they investigate his case!! He is stating that the police are dirty and set him up.

Sarah and Will are working on the connections between the murder victims and we go back in time to when Jeffrey was alive and working on the original case with Lena.

Whenever I see a Karin Slaughter book I never read the blurb first as I know it will be an amazing read with twists galore and this one had more twists than a rollercoaster and OMG the killer reveal is out of this world. I had to read it twice to let it sink in!!

If I could only read one author, Karin Slaughter would be the one!!

Thank you to Netgalley for my copy in exchange o review.

Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for a copy of of this book in exchange for my honest review.
Having read none of the previous books in the Will Trent series I was surprised to find I could easily relate to the characters and discover who they were and the relationships between them.
The book is excellent in its writing style with many good characters and an excellent plot, which is easy to get into and follow.
My 4 star review was taking all this into account but some of the graphic descriptions of the crimes committed made very uneasy reading for me and I had to skip past these as they were disturbingly graphic.
Will definitely look to read others in the series as interested to see how the characters started to where that have evolved to now.

This is the first Karin Slaughter book I have read, but it won’t be the last.

If, like me, you love to understand the fascinating science that is forensics, you will love this book. The detail provided may not be everyone’s cup of tea, but it gives you an excellent understanding of the crime, which brings you right into the heart of the book.

This level of detail is not just applied to the science in the book, but also to the characters. We know so much about each character, that I found myself sometimes knowing Sara’s reaction to a situation, before I read the next sentence. Karin uses chapters set back in time, so we get to know the character who is dead, during their life. Seeing a situation from their perspective, brings extra insight.

I find books in this gritty genre, can be purely about the crime, and it’s gory nature. But this book is about so much more. There are some heavy subjects dealt with, including extreme violence against women, and moving on to new love after the death of a partner. These matters are dealt with so honestly, and realistically. All the characters have flaws, not just “good guys and bad guys“.

Have just found out there are other books in this series, that pre-date this one. So it looks like I have just found my next “binge read” books.

I can’t recommend this book highly enough. Definitely 5*.

I did recieve a copy to review from Net Gallery, but this book I purchased in hardback. I have all the Karin Slaughter books and with the celebratory cover on the hardback, 20 books in 20 years in 2020. It was a book I needed to own.

This is the series for crime investigation thriller series, many authors aspire to write like Slaughter and many do well but this is pure genius as soon as l read the first page, my shoulders relaxed I switched off and got stuck into the story. Slaughter has a way of writing that's hard to define, the filler details are concise and minimal so you get the background information without having to read loads and the back story is always present in each book so even if someone hasn't read the series they can still engage in the book and throughly enjoy it.

Karin Slaughter books are on my to read again pile, the Will Trent series, which is the current running series including The Silent Wife is my favourite. Will Trent is not your usual investigator with his learning difficulties but it makes him loveable and as a reader I love hearing his approach to his work overcoming his difficulties and his relationship with Sara is just awesome. I was sad when Jeffery Tolliver died at the end of the Grant County series and I had no idea why Slaughter had done this. Then Will Trent arrived and it all made sense. But lovely to see Jeffery back in this book, historical events relevant to the current investigation but still lovely to have his character in action, and to see another side to the Lena character and see how poor she was as a police officer in the beginning. I didn't really get the dislike of her, she was more a rough diamond but seeing her unravel as a new officer was an insight.

The Silent Wife is another 5 star book and will be a enjoyed by all who read it. A decisive, well written beautifully planned thriller again from Karin Slaughter.

I cannot fault her books at all, they epitomise the perfect book for me, they have everything.

Will Trent and Faith Mitchell of the Georgia Bureau of Investigation are called to a Georgia prison following a riot and death of an inmate. Whilst there, prisoner Daryl Nesbitt asks to see them and accuses Detective Jeffrey Tolliver of fitting him up for brutal two rape attacks which he is serving time for. Jeffrey is now dead and was the former husband of medical examiner Dr Sara Linton who is in a relationship with Will. The unfolding drama puts a great strain on both of them and their relationship. The story is told in two different timelines from Jeffrey’s perspective eight years ago with the original investigation and Will, Faith and Sara’s in the present day.

The two different timescales works extremely well and they dovetail effortlessly . This is a tricky thing to get exactly right and shows the skill of the author. This is a very twisty tale, there are moments when it’s very creepy and scary and the plot is extremely gritty. The attacks on women are savage and although its made crystal clear just how depraved the perpetrator is, this is not gratuitous but it is hard hitting. It’s well written, the characters are very good, some of them are damaged by their past but this makes them more intriguing because they are flawed and complex. I like the occasional dark humour which is a welcome release from the storyline. I did guess who the perpetrator is but it does not spoil the ending of the book in any way.

However, it took me a long time to get into the book (maybe 25%) as I feel it’s over detailed and a bit longwinded in places. Then something seems to change and the tempo increases and from that point on I couldn’t put the book down.

With thanks to NetGalley and Harper Collins for the ARC.

Abso-bloody-lutely brilliant!!
I think this is my favourite book out of all from Karen Slaughter!

It is very dark and gritty and not for the sensitive reader. The descriptions of what was done to the woman are graphic but also important because these things are happening. Abuse against woman are on the increase and are getting more brutal. Sometimes you wonder what could have triggered these monsters and yes it can be something small like a flick of the hair.

This book is also a story about love. Sometimes relationships are put to the test. How do we deal with this?
It's a story about the past and the present. And in the end, it is a story about closure.

I love how normal her characters are. It's people we can associate with. People with normal issues.

And then the ending!! Brilliant!

If you read a lot of books it's very easy to forget the storylines. This 1 will definitely stay with me.

Thank you to NetGalley and Harper Collins UK, HarperFiction for the ARC in exchange for my honest opinion.
