What can I say about Karin Slaughter. She is just a brilliant author. This book did not disappoint. Recommended.

If you are not familiar with this author this book will get you hooked! It is part of a series and although it would be best read in order I think that you can still enjoy it as a standalone story. Having read it I have no doubt you'll wish to retrace the lives of the characters by reading the whole series.
The writing style is smooth and and yet grips you and hauls you. It's not as tense as some novels that I have read in this genre but this does not detract from the book at all.
The protagonists have a complex past which is best appreciated if you have read previous books but as I've already said, this is not essential. Both Sara and Will are human and flawed yet likable.
For me, the best thing about the book was the well thought out plot and the twist which I did start to suspect towards the latter part of the novel but this did not decrease my enjoyment in any way.
I really have not criticisms but would just urge you to read this book if Karin Slaughter is an author you enjoy or you are a fan of the genre and have not read any of her other books!

Another brilliant book by Karin. I have now read all but 2 of Karin's books and every one I have loved - they keep you thinking, guessing and you don't always now what will happen next. Brilliantly, fast paced, creepy at times, and I just love the characters - just need more books!

Love Karin Slaughters books and this is no different. Brilliant fast paced, eery at times, I loved this. Great characterisation and a pervading sense of unease.

i really enjoyed this, I have read all of the others in this series.
I loved that it tied into elements of the previous books but not in a way that yiy couldnt read this as a stand alone.

This is the first book I have read by Karin Slaughter and certainly will not be that last. Having not read any previous books of hers with the same characters I was able to relate to the relationships with no problems. It was a great read from the first to last page and ended with a twist that I did not see coming. As I do not want to write any spoilers I am just concentrating on the author. Karin has managed to bring so many elements to this piece of fiction with a lot of flinching moments that made me feel a little nauseous. I just loved it and am now looking forward to reading more books in this series.

I’m not sure if I might have appreciated this book more if I’d read the series from the beginning?! I didn’t realise this was part of a series until I started, so I take responsibility for that!

This book was quite graphic in places and a little disturbing, which usually doesn’t bother me but this one didn’t sit as well for me for whatever reason.

I found the chapters a little too long for my liking but again might have felt that way as I wasn’t too invested.

Not a bad book but I didn’t love it.

I'd hadn't read a Karin Slaughter book for some time and was pleased I read this one. I like her style of writing and she captures the atmosphere of the situation so you feel as if you are there. A great book and will be reading her again!

I have read previous Karin Slaughter books and enjoyed her work, however I have not followed this series. This had no detriment to the story as it held its own as a singular book by explaining the history of the characters throughout the story.

The story was gritty and gory, even to the point I grimaced and that doesn't normally happen. The relationships between the characters are very strongly shown and the ongoing issues of the characters keep the reader interested.

Then the final twist was brilliant, I did not see it coming at all and was pleasantly surprised by the way it all unravelled.

Would recommend to others who like this genre.

A good police procedural despite not being able to care much for the investigation team. Mostly my erroneous judgment.

Warning: If you have never picked up a book without knowing it is the latest book in a series and wondered what the hell is the equation between the people - don't start now. Oh, btw this book is after she merged two series of hers and made it into one!

Coming to the mystery and the investigation - a scary thriller. When during a prison riot, one of the inmates claims he was falsely done in by dirty cops as a serial killer detectives Will and Faith from GBI decide to check out the facts. The original murder was investigated by the now dead Jeffrey Tolliver and his widow, medical examiner Sara (who is currently dating Will).

We have two parallel investigations - one 8 years ago and one in the present where old witnesses are revisited. What they discover now is a systematic murders that continue to happen today where the victim is paralysed, administered date rape drug, raped, mutilated and death is made to seem like accident. All have a missing hair accessory and have expressed they felt watched. 2-3 of the early victims are still alive either paralysed or scarred for life. The police teams through revisiting the murder investigations first have to convince it is a serial killer and then figure out without tipping him off. The procedural was detailed and there were not many loose ends for a long book.

The book was brutal, terrifying and the forensic stuff gruesome - what you come to expect from a grown up procedural. There is a whole overload of complex emotions between Will, Sara and memories of Jeffrey which is a meaty party of the book. I did have a complain about the ending which was probably too easy. Like the book needed a last twist to justify the ending.

I would like to thank Netgalley, HarperCollins and Karin Slaughter for a e-copy of this book.

I've never read anything by Karin Slaughter before so I'm not used to her writing style. I stupidly, didn't realise that this was part of an ongoing series and I felt that I missed huge part of what was going on because of that. All in all, I found this a bit boring. It was overly descriptive and a bit all over the place for my liking. Won't be recommending.

I didn't realise this was part of series otherwise i would have educated myself first before reading. I feel that i would have enjoyed it much more this way. Still great story and interested me. Don't think i'd read the series prior now i've started at the end.

I did not enjoy this book. Too much describing of present and past relationships that I found boring. I have not read any previous books with these characters in so that is why I could not warm to them.

I am a huge fan of Karin Slaughter and this book did not disappoint.

Detective Will Trent has a strained relationship with Dr Sarah Linton but its thrown into further turmoil when a prisoner makes allegations that he was set up by corrupt police force - and the main chief of police was Sarahs late husband Jeffrey Tolliver.

They have to investigate a case from eight years ago of women being mutilated and murdered in the woods - but all had been recorded as accidental.

Having to review her own work, and that of Jeffrey's brings back memories and feelings that brings more tensions with Will.

Another brilliant read

This is the 10th book in the Will Trent series, which I didn’t appreciate, however, it was readable as a standalone.
I have to say I really struggled to get into the book and wasn’t interested enough in the characters, perhaps it would have been better to read the others books first.
The story itself was a good one however, and there was plenty of suspense.

The Silent Wife by Karin Slaughter was not as enjoyable for me as Karin’s previous books. This book was really difficult to get into, I felt it went into too much detail about the police force and dragged on a bit. Just an okay read for me.

Thanks netgalley and Karin Slaughter for allowing me to read this book if a little late.
Have not read any of the other books in the series, but read it as a stand alone.
A very gruesome and gory book about a serial killer, yes I could not put this book down and only guessed who the killer was at the very end of the book.

Karin Slaughter is a heavyweight in the crime / thriller genre, everyone knows her name - but after 17 plus novels, the quality keeps improving every time.

I was absolutely hooked from the first few pages, usually it takes a chapter or so for a book to really get going but "The Silent Wife" puts you right in the middle of the action from the very first moments. What a wonderful talent it is, to sweep the reader along with the story first thing, but never leaving them feeling lost at any point.

I won't include specifics in case of spoilers but I implore you to lose yourself in this latest tussle with the darker side of life.

The silent wife by K. Slaughter is the latest book in the crime series. This is my first time reading a Slaughter book although there are a long list of books before I was able to read this as a stand alone. The silent wife is centred around a search for a killer rapist. A man is currently in prison and is suspected of being the killer but he is adamant it's not him and that thr killer is still on the loose and has been active the 8 years he's been in prison. The GBI team are forced to reopen Jeffrey's case.

I struggled to begin with to get into this book I got very confused with the jump from Atlanta to Grant County. It didn't make much sense to me for a while, until I realised that the Grant County chapters were the original investigation 8 years earlier. Once I realised this which I must admit was a lot longer than I care to admit, I really got into the story.

This case brings back alot of emotions foe Sara who is forced to question whether he'r ex husband Jeffrey made a mistake. This brings back so many emotions for her and the fact that she was part of the first case aswell she remembers how horrific the victims of the crime had been assaulted.

The relationship between Will and Sara is an interesting one. As I haven't read any previous Slaughter books I didn’t know much about their relationship but it was really interesting to watch it play out over the course of the book. How the dead husband Jeffery is in their relationship. Along with Sara's own trauma of being a survivor.

The investigations are played out parallel to each other the current and the previous. I found this quite interesting actually. As we are forced to follow the evidence which doesn't appear to have changed that much from then to now.

TRIGGER WARNING ⚠️
This book contains very graphic discussions of rape and the way in which it physically and emotionally effects victims. Some parts of it were hard to read. But the author does explain that ehe did this on purpose as rape is often fluffed over in novels she wanted to show the realities of it and the brutality.

In general I found this to be a really good crime book. I made a guess really early on of who did it and surprisingly I was correct. But the full out was shocking and I found myself wanting to cry it was so emotional. I recommend this book to all crime lovers and if like me you haven't read any slaughter previously its easy to read as a stand alone. I happily give the book 4 stars.

Thank you netgalley slaughter and the publishers for the advanced digital copy in exchange for my fair and honest review.
