I was asked by NetGalley to review this book, gosh this packed a punch. This thriller is set in Scotland and is so terrifying.
After an horrific tragedy as a child, Flora is finally happy with her husband. they want to adopt a child and Beckie seems to fit what they want and they think this is meant to be. But then Beckie birth family say she is stolen but Flora is not giving up.
There is so many twists and turns the reader is on a rollercoaster journey with scottish dialects and a lot of swearing!

A good gripping story with believable characters. Did get a little bit predictable in parts but this didn’t detract from my enjoyment

Watch Over Me by Jane Renshaw was an excellent book with lots of twists and turns throughout. It did start off slowly then Bang - I was hooked and wanted more. I highly recommend this psychological thriller. Stick with it and the ending was brilliant!
Big thank you to Inkubator Books and Netgalley for the ARC of this book in exchange for my honest review.

This is a dark twisty psychological thriller
This book was filled with suspense and was creepy.
The ending and the twist were amazing.
A great book.

Very hard for me to get through as there was an excessive use of f***. The story could have been told and would have been better without it.

This was the second book by this talented author I've read, and she will be one of my favorites going forward. The book might not be everybody's taste, but I enjoyed it, and will read some more in future. Recommended

Really enjoyed this book, a great story told at break neck speed came to a satisfying conclusion at the end

Good story but what a slog. I kept picking up and putting down, gave up started again, gave up started again. I found this terribly hard going and to be honest boring.

I struggled with this book until about three quarters of the way through and then it picked up. The ending and twists were fantastic but it was a long hard slog to get there.
Work required on the beginning of the book or condense it do it does not drag as much. Would probably not read this author again based on this one book

Took me awhile to get through this I don't. Was hard to finish. Well written but just not for me though I did enjoy the characters, it was the story line I had a hard time following.

Thank you Netgalley for the chance to read this book in exchange for an honest review. I am a fan of books in this genre, so I was very much looking forward to reading this one. I was not dissapointed and both the plot and characters gripped me from the start. I will definitley aim to read another by this author. Highly reccomended!

Took me a while to get into this book but I'm glad I persevered as I really enjoyed it parts tugged on the heat strings with many twists and turns

I am of two minds about this book. As an adoptive parent, the plot resonated with me a great deal: an abused child is adopted by a model middle class Scottish couple. Her birth family, the Johnsons, plan revenge and will doing anything to get their daughter back, including murder. But then the plot starts to make some very unbelievable jumps and that detracts from my enjoyment and attention. Yes, the Johnsons are diabolical and there is a lot of tradecraft into how people can hack into your identity and represent themselves as someone else. That part I liked. But their thick Scottish accent was a bit much to deal with -- and since I read an advance galley as an ebook I didn't know of the glossary in the back of the book that would have helped as I was plowing through their thick dialog and odd word usage. Still, taken as a whole, this is an intriguing mystery and the parts that are realistic and believable outweigh the others.

This book kept me on the edge of my seat! What you think is a story about a family coming together turns into a book about a family fighting to stay together. It is psychological, twisty, and so well written!

This was a very interesting story told mostly from the perspective of the adoptive family. I could really understand their concerns and sympathized with them. The chapters featuring Becki’s biological family were extremely interesting but they lacked clarity; it was very confusing to read at times. And that was a huge issue with the novel as a whole: so many things needed clarification, and there were many abrupt jumps to a new scene, making it hard to follow along. It ended up being a very frustrating experience for me. This novel has quite a bit of Scottish slang in it, which I had no problem with – but the translations were at the very end of the book, which can be annoying to flip to when you’re reading.

Wow!!! Where to even start with this book! I was absolutely gripped just reading the prologue!!!!!
I did find the Scottish slang took me quite awhile to be able to read smoothly... but once I got into it.... I couldn’t stop!
Amazing read! Well done!!

A psychological thriller with twists and turns in the plot - it kept me intrigued and entertained - language can be pretty foul at times and to be honest sometimes spoiled the reading to an extent but it's gritty and original.
Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher Inkubator Books for allowing me to read the ARC in return for an honest review.

Thank you Netgalley for an ARC for this book in exchange for an honest review. It started out slow didn't pick up till around the middle of the book. I'm glad I stuck through out cause it turned out to be a good book.

A couple of twists- but somewhat predictable. The parts written in scottish slang were difficult to work out.

F*** f*** f***ing! Honestly? I was barely into WATCH OVER ME when I was assaulted by the overuse of this f***ing expletive. Sure, plenty of books use the f-bomb but NOT to this extreme and I found it totally unnecessary. It was disappointing because the premise sounded interesting.
As my first read by Jane Renshaw I was so looking forward to reading this. The premise was intriguing, the story compelling, right up my alley. I was wrong. The story was slow moving, the characters detestable, the language overused and unnecessary...even if the Scottish vernacular can be difficult to understand, this was nothing compared the constant use of the f-bomb!
Whilst the vernacular takes a bit of getting used to, I do think the glossary of Scottish slag should have been supplied at the beginning for readers to refer back to. I can understand more than most, and if I don't I have a Scottish friend who enlightens me to their meaning...but not everyone does or can understand Scottish slang. It may have been overused in this as well.
I can't even begin to give you and insight what it's about because I never got far enough into it to tell you. I gave up very early on and no amount of "stick with it, it gets better" will change my mind. I felt like I was on a council estate with bars on my window and living in fear of the burly grandmother with a sewer mouth on her! I'm all for being transported to the scene of the story but this was too much.
Despite the loads of time everyone has for reading right now (due to the self isolation and lockdown across the world) I still did not have the time to waste on WATCH OVER ME. There are so many other books out there to read and enjoy...I wasn't going to waste it on something as sadly as deplorable as this.
428 f***ing pages of f***, f***ed, f***ing would do my head in. I reckon the f-bomb was probably on 300 of those pages at least. Too f***ing much!!
For a book I barely started, this review is longer than I would have thought it'd be. I, for one, would no recommend this book to everyone. It's not in everybody's taste, and certainly not in mine. But again, the language just spoilt what promised to be an intriguing tale...maybe.
If I could give less than 1 star, I would.
I would like to thank #JaneRenshaw, #NetGalley and #InkubatorBooks for an ARC of #WatchOverMe in exchange for an honest review.
