The second book in the DS Jenna Morgan series is even better than the first. This book is a mix of police procedural and psychological suspense, and the author fuses them expertly, to produce an adrenaline-fueled story, coupled with an authentic investigative theme.

The police team are believable and full of interesting complex characters. Jenna is a skilled detective, who puts her career first, she is a good leader and a reliable partner, Her relationship with Mason is complex and realistic, and very effective. Romance is not high on her priority list, but it does shimmer in the background, with a past acquaintance. The romantics are given a little hope as this story progresses.

The crimes are detailed and grisly. The author uses just enough graphic description, to let the reader appreciate the evil of the antagonist, and the horror of the crimes. The plot is well thought out and has intriguing twists. I did work out the solution, but it is well hidden.

The level of psychological suspense and menace the story has is powerful and makes this a real page-turner.

Looking forward to Jenna's next case, hope its soon.

I received a copy of this book from Boldwood Books via NetGalley in return for an honest review.

I had no idea this was part of a series, but it made no difference and was a great read as a stand-alone novel.

I really have struggled to put this one down, I have been desperate to know what was coming next. I have even found myself thinking about this one when not reading.

The author has pulled me in from the very beginning and I have found the twists have kept me on the edge of my seat. I have loved the contrast between feisty female lead and sinister copycat killer and could not have predicted the ending.

This is my first read by this author but it definitely will not be the last. It has been impossible to put down and definitely worthy of a 5/5 rating from me.

I’d like to thank Boldwood Books and NetGalley for giving me the opportunity to read ‘Copycat’ by Diane Saxon in exchange for my honest and unbiased review.

Just hours after her date with DC Ryan Downey, the mutilated body of a red-headed nurse is discovered in her home tied to a kitchen chair wearing her nurse’s scrubs and thick makeup. As the number of bodies increases DS Jenna Morgan and DC Mason Ellis believe they have a serial killer on their hands whose method is similar to that of Paul McCambridge currently serving a long sentence in HMP Long Lartin. Is the person responsible getting instructions from McCambridge or is there a copycat killer on the loose?

‘Copycat’ is a well-written action-packed police thriller that’s had me gripped from page one. It’s bloodthirsty and gruesome with lots of intrigue, suspense and excitement, twists and turns, and the odd red herring thrown in to confuse. When I started reading I didn’t realise it’s the second in the DS Jenna Morgan series but despite that I gathered enough background information to guess at what had happened previously and it didn’t detract at all from my understanding of the story. I liked the characters of Jenna, Mason and Ryan and enjoyed the levity that was prevalent throughout especially when it came to food and drink! When I reached the conclusion the final twist was such a shock and not at all what I was expecting. I’ve thoroughly enjoyed reading this thriller which is well deserving of five stars and can definitely recommend it.

The second in this gripping and very addictive series. I loved her first book The Keeper and I am glad to say that this one is even better. This book takes off like a rocket and is at full throttle until you have turned the last page. A real page turner which I found very hard to put down. Packed with tension and suspense, lots of chilling and scary heart in your mouth moments. Creepy, scary and absolutely gripping. Another new light in this genre and I can't wait to read more. An easy five stars and so Highly Recommended.
Thanks to Boldwood Books and Netgalley for the ARC.

The second book in the DS Jenna Morgan series kept me gripped from the first page. The team are called out to investigate a murder which has chilling similarities with previous cases. The murderer is serving life in prison and this appears to be a copycat. As they investigate, the body count rises and the victims are all red haired nurses. I loved the character development and the interesting plot as well as the twist at the end. A very good read which I would recommend. Thanks to Net Galley for my ARC.

My first time reading anything by this author and I really enjoyed the book and although I guessed who the murderer was, it didn't take away from the story and I liked the inclusion of a second suspect. I was only started reading the book when I knew I had to buy the other one in the series. I would like to thank the publishers and netgalley for letting me have the book to review and the opinions expressed are entirely my own views and are completely unbiased

This the first book that I have read by Diane Saxon but definitely not the last. I really liked the combination of characters with a feisty female police lead and a sinister killer on the loose. There were several twists and although I worked out the last one before I read it, it did not disappoint.
Overall a really enjoyable read and I recommend it highly!

4.5 Stars

This is the second book in the DS Jenna Morgan series by Diane Saxon.

This is the first book I have read in this series and I discovered I was a bit behind in the backstory going into this. Apparently, Jenna had been thrown for a loop in the previous book with the kidnapping of her sister, Fliss. She was still in recovery mode after the fallout from that and now is thrust into a case of a brutally murdered woman made to look like the work of another madman currently in jail. And so begins a string of murders of redheaded nurses. These women are discovered using a dating app. One of Jenn’s colleagues, DC Ryan Downey, has been using this app to find dates and in fact was the last person to see the first victim alive.

This was a quite exciting read and it was one of those books that really keeps you on your toes as you follow along with the action. Very twisty-turney as there is a pretty decent twist three-fourths of the way through revealing something about the killer even the reader, who is seeing things from the killer’s perspective from time to time, didn’t realize.

I totally enjoy a good police procedural and this one is set in Britain. So the policing system is a tad different than it is over here in the US. If you love Midsomer Murders, you will definitely dig this book. This is a good mystery suspense thriller/police procedural/detective fiction book you will want to have sitting on your shelf.

I received this as an ARC (Advanced Reader Copy) in return for an honest review. I thank NetGalley, the publisher and the author for allowing me to read this title.

This book is part of a series and while the author tries hard to catch readers up without taking to much time away from the main story readers jumping in might be still a little lost.

Once the story starts readers will find themselves in a thriller that will have readers wondering what is going on and where is this going but in the best of ways. The characters are interesting enough but fall into the traditional police\Constable characters and do not move away from that box.

The find themselves watching as murder are happening unable to stop or tell the characters to run away. The author is graphic and describe in detail what is happening to the point of painful.

In the end the book is a decent read for those who like mysteries with a little more gore.

Well, I didn’t read book one, but this second book was fantastic. Detective Sargent Jenna Morgan is frantically searching for a killer who is ‘copycatting’ an imprisoned serial killer with a fetish for red haired nurses. Knowing this vicious man is inside, Jenna and her team have no suspects and the only lead is a dating app used by Ryan, one of the young cops on the team who feels that a nurse is the perfect dating partner as they both have terrible hours and deal with terrible crimes. He also likes redheads. Off we go on a thrilling edge of your seat hunt with twists and turns galore. My heart was pounding the whole of the way through the second half. I need a red headed nurse myself at this point. A brilliant story, with excellent well rounded characters, a creepy ending and a really cute Dalmatian. Where’s book 1?

The second book in the D.S. Jenna Morgan series, at west marcia malinsgate police station, along with D.C. Mason Ellis and hung over Jenna and team are called out to Brooke Avenue in Lawley. The victim named Marcia Davies found by her ex partner has been murdered and it not a pretty sight. A redhead a nurse it takes the team back to a similar case but the murderer is serving life could this be a copycat? This follows three deaths all with the same technique and again D.C. Ryan Downey knows then from the dating app. This book has a mixture of possibilities as to who the series killer is that is going to keep you guessing. The author been very clever all the way through that will hit you spot big time. This I loved and left me reading on for more. Has a massive twist that turn your emotions wild. I love both these book in the series and have been left hungry to read more, look forward to more? Most definitely.

DS Jenna Morgan and her "sidekick", DC Mason Ellis, are sent on a frightening and horrific case. A woman who had recently been dumped by her boyfriend, is brutally murdered. This, after a few drinks too many on an internet date. The only problem is - the internet date had placed the woman in an Uber and paid the driver. That was all her date, DC Ryan Downey, had done. Ryan is relatively new on the police force and his dad has been in police forensics for a long time.

Jim Downey reminds Jenna of a case that is highly similar to this one from 9 years ago - only the perp is still in prison. Jenna and Mason visit this prisoner who likes the fact that someone "appreciated" his work enough to copy it. Then, the prisoner attacks his guard and almost gets Jenna, too.

We next see the "copycat" with another nurse, also a redhead, having cake and coffee. Restraining himself, the copycat eventually leaves the coffee shop. Yet, watches the woman - eventually messing with her house, as he did with the first one he murdered. Will he murder her, too? Will there be others?

An exciting police procedural that I recommend to all!

Many Thanks to Boldwood Books and NetGalley for a super great read!
