This book was an okay read for me. I liked some parts of the book but others seemed all over the place. Maude was probably the best character in this book. She made me laugh with her bluntness and I can relate to that. All in all, started off good but lost me in the end.

Thank you Netgalley, the author and publisher for the ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Sorry I Missed You is the story of three very different women who have all had a similar experience of being ghosted by people they loved. There’s also a subplot with ghosts in the attic which is always good.
Mackenzie’s story is the most complicated and absorbing and Sunna’s is probably not explored as thoroughly as it could have been. She does however have to find closure to her situation in a different way from the others. There’s also a nice maiden, mother, crone dynamic between women of three different generations whose approach to what happens to them is very different and they all learn something from each other and are all happy at the end which is nice.

A bittersweet read about relationships that ended abruptly and the start of new ones. Three women, each of whom have been ghosted in their own ways in the past, come to live together under the same roof. Each have their own stories and troubles. Maude, Sunna, and Mackenzie are often at each other's throat, but if they want to see who sent that letter (and to whom) they would have no choice but to stick together during their daily coffee meetings at Paper Cup. Slowly, their relationship goes from intolerable to loving and caring. A nice read that shows you three different stages of life and the many issues and lessons behind them. Old relationships fall forever as new ones are built, and not everyone will get their closure...but at least, in the end, they would have each other. A quirky and original story with bits of romance, friendship, mystery, and ghosts to keep you well entertained.

The only minor flaw I had was the amount of bickering there was. I know it's part of the growth from strangers to friends, but some of the fights made me roll my eyes wondering what they were fighting about THIS time. Sometimes, the fights seem to erupt out of nowhere. Maybe that's the charm and dynamic of this particular group relationship? It's minor, but I eventually grew a weee tired of the constant fights. I still enjoyed myself and the ending even surprised me. Looking past the fights, I actually grew quite fond of the story, the side plots, and the characters.

story takes place in Regina, Canada. The plot is interesting, but it is the unique assortment of characters that makes this book endearing. Larry, a past his prime punk rock lover, inherits a house from his deceased aunt. The one stipulation is that he must leave the attic alone. Larry does some remodeling. He rents parts of the house out to different tenants. Maude, Sunna, and Mackenzie are the three renters. The women were unique, each with a story of being ghosted. Then, an anonymous letter arrives saying that they sorry they missed them and could they meet. The letter is unsigned, but each tenant is sure the letter is meant for them. So the unlikely group hangs out a coffee shop, mentioned in the letter waiting for their person to arrive. Over the course of their time spent together, I learned more about each characters’ life and how how they ended up where they were.

Each character was delightful and engaging. It was hard not to get swept up in their odd lives. This is a book of friendship and ultimately hope. The story pulled me in and kept me engaged until the final word. It is never too late for a do-over.

I enjoyed this book.

Maude, Sunna and Mackenzie all move into an old house around the same. They’re all haunted by people from their past, and when a letter arrives, waterlogged, unclear who for, they decide to spend their days at the coffee shop waiting to see which of their ghosts returns.

Their house is also haunted. And there’s a subplot about a bomb threat at an art museum.

This book treats everyone’s personal ghosts with the same weight, even though some (missing sisters) have a bit more of a higher stake than others (friends no longer speak). It also ties just about everything up in a nice little bow.

But the characters are really sweet, and I was rooting for their developing friendship every step of the way.

Really good read. Would recommend to friends and family. I could sympathise with characters (important for any fiction novel!) and looked forward to picking it up and reading the next few chapters! Interesting plot line and a good ending. Will look out for more novels by the author. Thank you.

A poignant and heartwarming novel about friendship, ghosting, and searching for answers to life’s mysteries.

When Mackenzie, Sunna, and Maude move into a converted rental house, they are strangers with only one thing in common—important people in their lives have “ghosted” them. Mackenzie’s sister, Sunna’s best friend, and Maude’s fiancé—all gone with no explanation.

So when a mangled, near-indecipherable letter arrives in their shared mailbox—hinting at long-awaited answers—each tenant assumes it’s for her. The mismatched trio decides to stake out the coffee shop named in the letter—the only clue they have—and in the process, a bizarre kinship forms. But the more they learn about each other, the more questions (and suspicions) they begin to have. All the while, creepy sounds and strange happenings around the property suggest that the ghosts from their pasts might not be all that’s haunting them…

Will any of the housemates find the closure they are looking for? Or are some doors meant to remain closed?

Quirky, humorous, and utterly original, Sorry I Missed You is the perfect read for anyone who has ever felt haunted by their past (or by anything else).

This book was not for me. The plot jumped around all over the place and the ending seemed rushed.
I also did not like two of the three characters.

Three very different women end up sharing a house together and discover that they all have something in common, they’ve all been “ghosted” by someone very important to them. So when a letter arrives without a name on it they all hope the letter is for them. I loved the premise of this book though in reality while there were parts which I enjoyed there were also parts I didn’t enjoy as much, such as the attic storyline. I just didn’t find it to be very believable and I’m not sure that it brought anything to the story. I did find the relationship that grew between the three main characters to be very endearing and I liked the ending. Thank you to Netgalley for the digital copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Sorry, I Missed You by Suzy Krause has a new concept that attracted me to read it. .
Ghosting! Yes we all have been ghosted. By friends or in a relationship. If you are ghosted by someone then you must have ghosted someone.
.
Larry inherited the house from her aunt. To keep the custody of the house he has to follow the rules given in the will.
.
He decides to rent the house to three ladies McKenzie Sunna and Maude. All three of them are of different ages, backgrounds, and histories.
.
The only thing common among all three is they all have been ghosted by someone.
.
The story revolves around all four characters.
A lot is going on in the story. At times I found it a bit slow and dragged. However, I enjoyed the ending of the book. .
⭐⭐⭐.5

Such a fun and easy read about the effects of different types of ghosting, and an actual ghost situation. The suspense was unexpected but I was anticipating where it would lead, amd what a plot twist at the end!

Thank you to the publisher for letting me read this in exchange for an honest review. I wanted to love this book, but it just fell flat to me. It was predictable, the characters were completely unlikable, and nothing felt like it fit together. It was all over the place, and a few things didn’t mesh well with the rest of the story at all and then everything at the end was rushed. I’m very disappointed, I wish I could have loved this

This book just didn't work for me personally. I can accept a lack of character development when the overall story is fast paced and interesting enough to justify it, but this book lacked that for me too. There was simultaneously too much going on and no strongly defined plot. What was there didn't to anything to grab my attention. I appreciate the opportunity to read this one, but it just was not for me.

A quirky, fast and easy read! Krause explores unlikely, wonderful friendship and characters who are realistically flawed but easy to find commonality with. This is genre crossover whilst fitting in still as a contemporary fiction book, the additional thriller/mystery elements really did make it an interesting read. I thought it kept my interest well, especially toward the second half.
I did think this was going be less about actual ghosts, which I'm not a fan of, but the general themes and ideas are very well achieved by the author.

Sorry I missed you is a heart warming tale about thee unlikely friends and their individual quests to make peace with their feelings of hurt and loss.

Mackenzie, Sunna and Maud rent individual flats in a spooky large converted old house that the landlord Larry has recently inherited from his dead Aunt. When they find a ripped letter in their shared mail box, each becomes increasingly invested in the lives of the others. All three women hope that the letter was meant for them, and that a figure from their last is the sender. Not wanting to miss this person they decide to take up residence daily in the coffee shop mentioned in the letter in the hope of meeting again those missing from their past.

Sorry I missed you is a charming novel that opens conversation about the emotions surrounding "ghosting". The story is very original and I couldn't put it down towards the second half of the book. Ghosting as a subject is something that I have experienced many times and not only did I find the story relateable but I finished this novel feeling better about my own experiences and hurt. I definitely recommend this book if ghosting is something that has painfully impacted your life.

When Larry (an awkward man who still misses the old punk scene) inherits an old house (which comes along with a strange list of demands) he decides to renovate it and rent it. The three women who move in couldn't seem to be more different but when a nearly indecipherable note arrives, they all assume it's for them. They start to get closer and as things unfold it's starting to become more and more apparent that one of them is keeping secrets -- and that the house has ghosts.

At first I was a bit annoyed at the writing style of this book -- it's a bit more simplistic (at least at the start) than what I'm used to -- but I eventually stopped noticing it and started to appreciate it. There's definitely some points at which I laughed -- and that's great.
The pacing was a bit slow and the action doesn't start until were about half-way through the book, so quite a lot of backstory. I thought that the PoVs were a bit unevenly in favour of characters that weren't Maude, and I still don't quite understand why Larry was one of the favoured ones.
On the topic of characters, I think they were all quite well developed. I didn't really like Sunna that much but that's because I don't generally like people who behave like her in real life. They were all quite life like and easy to sympathize with.
There were some romantic subplots but they were very, very subtle and well executed in their subtleness. Therefore, I can't really talk about them without being spoilery. I feel like this was a much more mystery driven novel than I expected just by reading this blurb.

Overall, a very enjoyable read and my advice to you is to just get until fifty percent if you feel like this book is slow.

I opened this expecting a rom-com, but I got so much more!

The book features a house with three women living on different floors, all with a story and a past. An anonymous letter arrives hinting at an apology and an explanation, but who is it for? As the book flips between POV, the reader learns that all three of the women are hoping it's for them... As they lead up to the anticipated rendezvous the letter hints at, the three women learn more about each other and further backstories revealed.

This book was unlike other books on friendship and other thrillers. Maybe a bit of a mix of contemporary with thrilling? It wasn't exactly my favorite, but it wasn't enough to keep me from reading it all the way through.

Thank you Netgalley and Lake Union for allowing me to read this and give my honest opinion.

Just finished reading SORRY I MISSED YOU by Suzy Krause. I received this ARC from Lake Union Publishing via Netgalley in exchange for an honest review. Official publication date was June 1st, 2020.

Maude, Sunna and Mackenzie have two things in common. One, they all moved into the same recently converted old Victorian home in Regina, Saskatchewan. Two, they were all 'ghosted' by someone who meant alot to them in their past.

While this troupe of characters have seemingly little else in common, they slowly form a unique friendship when they find a mysterious letter in their mailbox. This badly beaten up letter is from someone hoping to meet up at a nearby coffee shop and reconcile. But with whom? As all of the women believe it could be written for them; they decide to stake out this coffee shop together.

Along the way they help each other overcome their pasts, so that they can move on peacefully in their present. Too bad the ghosts in their attic don't seem interested in doing the same thing!

I really enjoyed this motley crew of characters and could not put this book down. Was very much invested in finding out who the author of the letter was, and was completely shocked by who wrote it.

Really enjoyed this book, the friendship between the tenants, however different they are in age and background. They receive a letter and they're not sure who it's for. "sorry I missed you" or "sorry, I missed you" is in the letter and that's where the title is coming from. I will look up other books from the author I like the style.

I'd really rate this more 2.5 than 3. The story could have been so good. But, the writing was very juvenile. None of the three main women were relatable at all. There back stories were unfinished. Why was the landlord made to be so important when he really didn't have much to do with the storyline? And the people in the attic... Called that from page one. Disappointing read.

Sorry I Missed You - This novel started out promising! I enjoyed the growing friendships between the 3 main female characters. The main plotline of the story was intriguing: a damaged letter is left in the shared mailbox of an apartment building, and the tenants work together to figure out who the letter was for. There are additional storylines about their landlord and possible ghosts in the attic. Overall, the story was cute, with plenty of moments that made me smile, and I generally loved the way it ended. There were too many plotlines at once, though. The ghost mystery was interesting as it was playing out, but the way it resolved made it feel completely unnecessary. I also felt that one of the main characters (Sunna) didn't have closure with her storyline as much as the other main characters did. It all fell a bit flat in the end. Thank you to NetGalley for providing me with a digital copy of this book!
