I really enjoyed this book by Suzy Krause, so much so I literally read it one sitting! I loved that it had elements of a ghost story entwined with hints of romance and mystery but at its essence was a charming story about three completely different women learning to appreciate each other and their newfound friendship. A light and fun read for when we all need a little more quirkiness in our lives! Thank you to Netgalley and Lake Union Publishing for this digital copy to review!!

I received this book from Suzy herself after I raved about Valencia and Valentine to share my honest review. She is honestly such a wonderful, responsive author too. But I have to say that I absolutely loved this book.

It was funny and poignant and quirky. I loved Maude, Sunna, Mackenzie and even Larry. There was so much more to this story than just being ghosted and haunted houses. It’s about relationships, friendship, closure and the different phases and points in our life that shape us to be who we are. It’s about opening yourself up to different people, different experiences, and allowing yourself to move on from the “ghosts” of your own past. You will love this one! The chapters alternated between the different characters to give a whole, concise picture. Amazing read! Suzy fails to disappoint with her second novel as well!

I stumbled upon Suzy Krause’s Sorry I Missed You and I decided to pick it up even though it’s not a book I would usually pick. It’s been marked as Chick Lit on Goodreads by most members, which is a category I try to stay away from a little bit. However, the ghosts peeked my interest.

This novel is about a man who inherits a house from his aunt, which he's not allowed to sell and which has (in his mind) impossible and outrageous living conditions.

He decides to rent the big house out, with ghosts and all. Three women move in. All of them have been "ghosted" for different reasons. Maude has been left at the altar, Mackenzie lost her sisters, and Sunna her best friend. These three women get to know each other really quickly when a mysterious letter shows up at their house from an unknown sender. Who is it that is returning to one of them? Is it the runaway fiancé? The missing sister? The best friend?

The story of the book is funny in itself, but the writing is great! The dialogues are funny and relaxed. They aren’t forced or over the top. I found myself chuckling a few times. A lot happens in the book, because these three main characters aren't the only ones central to the plot. Larry, the landlord is as well. Unfortunately, I didn't like him that much. That’s fine though, because I had the feeling the author didn't go out of her way to make him likeable Then there are the ghosts of course...

It's definitely worth a read!

It's Maude's wedding day and her dress looks awful. Maude is in her sixties. She wished she would have married young. This is Maude's first marriage and Richards second. Richard gets drunk and is undecided about marrying I liked Maude. Mackenzie and Tanya are fighting about Tanya dating a man she barely knows. That's the last time Mackenzie sees Tanya in real life.Sunna and Brett are fighting to keep their friendship . Larry inherits a house but there's a lot of conditions.

This story follows Maude, Sunna and Mackenzie. Three women who have been ghosted by someone special in their lives. The come together by chance when they move into a converted, old Victorian as roommates. They become more than roommates when they find a letter in their shared mailbox. That letter is looking to reconnect with someone, but due to water damage all they can make out is “sorry I missed you” and something about a local coffee shop. The women decide, some more begrudgingly than others, to stake out the coffee shop until the author of the letter shows up. Each secretly thinks / hopes that the letter was for them.

On top of that motley crew of coffee shop dwellers, there is also something bizarre happening in their old Victorian - sounds, things going missing etc. The women may have more to worry about than the ghosts of their past.

I’m a big fan of canadian programming. CBC is my jam and I haven’t missed an episode of Schitt’s Creek, Working Moms or Kim’s Convenience. It’s a different type of comedy and I’m all about it. This book was the equivalent in literature. The story was bigger than the comedy aspects, but they were sprinkled throughout and really had me chuckling more than once. If this book was a show, CBC fans would eat it up. It’s not trying to be funny, it just is.

On top of that, @suzykrause is so darn nice. I went to law school in the prairies and there is something special about people from there. They are more open and so friendly. I mean, I don’t make eye contact and wear headphones even when I’m not listening to music, to avoid unnecessary interactions on the subway. I’m from Toronto. I guess what I’m trying to say, is that she’s a true Canadian gem and she has a fan girl in me.

Easy breezy read and really really interesting. The plot entices and it is a page turner no doubt but the book is terribly long.

I struggled to complete the book. I found some of the characters were boring. The 3 main characters all lived in the same large house in different apartments. They all had secrets but not enough to keep me engaged. The letter in the mailbox was an interesting idea but the reality of sitting in a coffee shop every day until someone walked in that they hoped wrote the letter felt unrealistic.

A quirky little gem. Suzy Krause has delivered a charming tale filled with heart, humor, and a side of ghost. One house, one letter, three women, three stories. Mackenzie, Sunna, and Maude have nothing in common but their address. The three women Live on separate floors in the same house so when an anonymous letter arrives they are all convinced it is for them. The letter is an apology and all three women have someone in their lives that owes them an apology for leaving. The only clue in the letter is in regards to a meet up at some point at a local coffee shop. This leads to the threesome spending many days at the local coffee shop and in doing so really getting to know one another. Meanwhile back at the house things are going missing and bump in the addict. so who is the letter really for? And is there a ghost in the house?

This was such a fun and unique story. A little ghost story, a little romance, a little mystery, and a lot of friendship. Mackenzie, Sunna, and Maude were all so different from one another and in different places in their lives. I loved how they all came together and learn to appreciate one another. The ghost story elements of the book were a lot of fun and I really liked how it was resolved. All in all a delightful and peculiar tale.

After reading (and LOVING) the author's debut novel "Valencia and Valentine", I was extremely excited when Suzy offered me a chance to read an ARC of her second novel. That excitement was warranted because this novel was such a delight to read. It had everything that a good story needs: humour, mystery, and even instances which made you truly think about life itself.

Spanning across the life span, each of the main characters were vastly different but at their core shared some similarities between each other. I found each of these characters realistic and relatable in their own way and I think that's one of the most important things to take away from this novel. No matter your age or your life circumstances, there is someone out there that shares some of the feelings that you have. This was a story about friendships, relationships, the past, and not letting the past hold you back from the future you deserve. A life well lived means that there will be ghosts.

For me, this novel seemed to glide across multiple genres and I loved that aspect. At times, it would feel like a murder mystery or 'whodunnit' but there was also comedy, romance, and thought provoking instances surrounding life experiences.

Everything from the plot to the writing style fully captured me from the beginning to the end and I can't wait to read more from this author in the future.

***Thank you to the author Suzy Krause for sending me an e-ARC of this novel in exchange for an honest review***

"The ghost isn't the person; it's the feelings attached to the person."
This is a unique story of three ladies, so different in age, and life experiences. They have one thing in common- each has lost a relationship at one time.
They live in an old renovated home that is haunted! There are things missing, noises in the attic, and food taken from the refrigerator.
How does one get them out? Will anyone believe them?
This was a definite mystery with a comical twist that I enjoyed and read quickly to see how it ended.
I loved the closing and it was not at all what I expected!
Terrific!
