I love the old 30’s style feel of this book. The way the two different generations interact has a very smooth close feel. The three sisters follow the rules set forth by their mother to help others down on their luck. They take in a much younger pregnant girl who has no family and never knew what family was all about, and make her one of their own. They do all they can to help her through times when she has no money or a place to live and all four grow close like a family. Add in the male character who has significant PTSD and depression and you have a list of characters that form a very united family. The story goes through all the different struggles for each age group and how each one generation helps the other handle their problems. You feel as if you are right there In Rooster Texas as you read the book .I love how the writer shows the love of the two younger characters without writing sex scenes that usually just fills in the pages of other books. She also lets you feel the love and affection each character has for the other despite age differences If you want to travel in your chair to different places and times this is the story to read. #TheBantyHouse #NetGalley

This is a heartwarming story about families. The elderly sisters were wonderful characters as one still made moonshine and one grew weed for her own use. I recommend this book to anyone who loves books that leave you feeling good

The Banty House is a heartwarming story about family: those created by blood and those created by the heart. The characters Carolyn Brown has created in this story will grab your interest and hold it until the last period. The sisters who own the house are in their seventies when readers meet them. Spinsters all, each has a distinct personality and backstory that will endear and amuse. One sister still makes moonshine; another grows her own weed. They’re generous beyond measure to those they embrace, including wounded warrior Sloan and transient Ginger, alone, broke and pregnant. This reviewer will give no spoilers. Fans of the author know they are in for a wonderful read. For those readers who are unfamiliar with Carolyn Brown’s books they are like potato chips...one is never enough! I voluntarily reviewed an advance copy of this book from NetGalley. Most highly recommend.
