This book is addictively readable as the twist and turns it takes is completely not foreseen and takes you on different paths that you don’t see coming - the second narrative is an interesting take as well which makes the book different - def worth a read

Anna loses her job reading the lunchtime news for BBC when Cat, the woman she was filling in for, returns after a 2 year maternity leave. Now Anna has been demoted back to correspondent and her first assignment is to cover the murder of a woman in the small town where she grew up. Jack is a police detective, who recently moved to this small town and is assigned to the murder. He knows more about the victim than he is letting on. The story alternates between the points of view of Anna and Jack. Both seem to know too much and it is impossible to know who is telling the truth about the events.

I think this was the best of this author's three books. I was totally absorbed in it. The story kept moving along with more twists and turns and misdirections. I really could not figure out how this one was going to end. Even when I thought it was over, it wasn't, there was more to the story. I look forward to reading whatever this author comes up with next.

I've read her previous books and love the easy way you can glide through her books, but I tore this this faster than usual. A journalist running from her past, a cop linked to her trying to live with his demons are joined together again when a woman they both know is murdered. The journalist is forced to revisit her hometown, the place she ran from, to cover the murder but it's not long before she finds herself in the centre of the murderers twisted game as the bodies start to pile up.
I wont give anything away as I hate that myself, but I will urge you to buy this book, it's a killer read.

A very good read. A clever use of narration ensured that you were also wondering quite what was going on and who in fact was telling the truth. Would recommend.

This is the first book I’ve read by Alice Feeney, and it’s certainly a dark and twisty tale. The “His and Hers” of the title are newsreader Anna and her ex-husband Jack, a police detective. We hear from each in turn and also from a (possible?) third party as a woman’s body is found in the woods. We also see flashbacks to their teenage years.

It’s a complex business - everybody seems to be mixed up with everybody (Jack’s ex-wife, sister, and sometime lover are all involved in the case on some level, for instance), and suspicion constantly shifts between characters. It’s impossible to know who to trust.

The story is very dark and disturbing at points and the depths of unrepentant, conscience-free iniquity to which certain characters sink - almost to the point of cartoon villainy, at times - while appearing outwardly normal, do rather defy credibility. For at least one character - probably two - to be so utterly corrupt at so young an age is a little hard to believe. It’s all just a bit too extreme.

It’s a remarkably twisty tale with a lot of misdirection going on - it was easy to see it happening, but generally less easy to work out the truth! When the truth is finally revealed, I hadn’t seen it coming, and the author does a very good job of keeping the secret.

A really good thriller! I haven’t read any of this authors work before and I’m so glad I was able to read this advanced copy. It’s a book that drawers from two perspectives, his and hers. I won’t give any spoilers but this will get you hooked, I completed this in just a few days! A must buy.

A thriller with lots of twists and turns which is continually throwing out hints as to who is the arch-villain. However most of us shall not make the connection and so shall be left guessing until very near the end. Undoubtedly Feeney is an accomplished writer of suspense novels but I came away with the feeling this novel is just a bit too contrived and therefore I failed to suspend disbelief sufficiently to really be enthralled by it. On the other hand Jack Harper, the DCI investigating officer, is seriously down on his luck and how he copes with solving the murders definitely drew me in, especially when he has to simultaneously deal with a very intrusive TV reporter who happens to be his ex-wife! Although I have only awarded it 3 stars "His and Hers" shall surely provide any reader with 4 or 5 hours of enjoyment.

Another fantastic book by this without she had me on the edge of my seat biting my nails I was engrossed from start to finish so looking forward to the next book . Definitely a 5 rating .

This is an edge of the sofa, nail biting, nerve inducing read. Characters you will hate, some you will love and twists and turns aplenty and seem to come from nowhere. Definitely worth a read although I must say there are some potential trigger warnings that go along with this book.

Oh my goodness.......what a book. Fast paced with every page giving a new twist and turn. Kept me guessing right up to the last 5 pages. A fantastically well written book with characters that all carry history.

Anna is covering Cats maternity leave as a news presenter, her dream job. When Cat unexpectedly returns from leave Anna finds herself back in the office. Following the murder of a woman in the woods in Blackdown, the town she grew up in but ran from, she is thrown back into the path of her ex husband Jack, a DCI in sleepy Blackdown.

Jack is working in Blackdown, a quiet town that suddenly has a murder on its hands.

Both Anna and Jack know the victim and both have history with her. What follows is a further 4 murders and the victims are all linked to Anna's school days.

A brilliant book told alternately from Anna and Jack's viewpoint that constantly has the reader changing camps as to who the perpetrator is.

An absolute must read.

This book is a real psycho thriller. I kept deciding I knew what the outcome would be and who was responsible for the murders. However, this story appears to be filled with red herrings which kept me having to rethink my decisions.
There is an element of humanity running through the story too and we get to see the good side of some of the characters and have to think again only to be drawn back to a darker side.
Sinister and disturbing but utterly compelling and at the end? Didn’t see that coming!

Jack, Anna's ex-husband, is the leading investigator on the case, but as soon as he sees the victim, it transpires that he knew her too, in fact, he was with her just before she was murdered. But Jack fails to inform his investigative team about his connection to the victim.
Two sides of the story, his and hers. Is either of them responsible for the crime?

This is an utterly gripping read that got me hooked immediately.
I really liked the narration. The story, told from two perspectives and interspersed with the narration from the killer, keeps you on the edge of the seat, making you change your mind about who to trust throughout the whole book.
The twists will leave you open-mouthed on more than one occasion and the final revelation will leave you bowled over.
Fast-paced, suspenseful, and thrilling are just a few words that can describe this book.
I recommend it to you with a clear conscience, and I can assure you that you won't be disappointed should you decide to pick up this or any of the author's previous novels.

Fairly anodyne crime procedural - I found it entertaining enough to finish it but with a firm sense that this has been done before - the vengeful 'mean girls' trope is laid on pretty thick despite the twists that upend it. Read it without thinking too much about the coincidences and the overwhelming feeling that the 'His' voice is one of the worst coppers ever!

Really enjoyed this, there are two sides to every story, yours, mine or his and hers.

This was a compelling and twisty read, a divorced couple end up investigating a murder, he Jack, as the detective and she Anna, as a TV news reporter.

Both Jack and Anna knew the victim and things take a sinister turn when another body rocks up and is linked to Anna's friendship circle from 20 years ago.

Question is... Is Anna in danger or does she know more than she's letting on and why does Jack have the first victims mobile phone in his car?

Loved this book, it kept me guessing right till the end.

Alice Feeney has a style of writing all her own. I really love her books. However the Him And Her chapters I found a bit confusing as they are supposed to be the voices of Jack and Anna yet sometimes they seem to be spoken by other people. It didn't stop me enjoying the book though and the constant twists and turns and not knowing who is lying are breath-taking. I am still not sure who was lying. Alice is the master of twisty story-telling and has found her own voice in a genre where there are so many new authors but she is amongst the best.

Her characters are often horrible but compelling. Some deserve everything they get - some you feel sorry for. Anna is not always likeable. Rachel and Zoe are truly wicked. Helen almost as bad while you feel sorry for Catherine Kelly. Jack is a good detective but Priya is better. You can't pull the wool over her eyes. She's like Colombo with the bit between her teeth. The questions just keep coming.

A bloody brilliant read. There were so many twists and just when I thought I had cracked it Feeney threw something else into the mix. I always enjoy a book with alternating perspectives and this was no different, Jack and Anna were intriguing and fascinatingly flawed.

Wow. Never read anything by Alice previously but will be watching out for her books. The story is told from two perspectives and left me guessing right the way through. A real roller-coaster of emotions and flashbacks to those awful teenager years of trying to fit in with the popular crowd. I will be recommending this book to friends and family.

The story is told from two perspectives, or possibly three including the anonymous guilty party. Main characters are Jack (middle-aged police detective) and Anna (glamorous but rather cold and aloof BBC newscaster), who were married until two years ago. Anna is suddenly dropped from the news desk, through no fault of her own, and sent out as a reporter to cover a 'real life' murder in the small village in which she grew up. Of course, Jack is in charge of the investigation so sparks soon begin to fly. Two other murders follow in quick succession and they all appear to be linked.

There are many red herrings, mis-directions and slow reveals which made the book compulsive reading. I missed a vital clue at the beginning and almost kicked myself when I realised. The ending was a total surprise and completely unexpected.
