I have read other books by Jane Fallon and really enjoyed them , but this must be the best yet!
The reader is drawn into the book from the first couple of pages . Jane has a great writing style, producing well rounded characters, loads of drama, and some real laugh out loud moments- a real good read!
The plot had twists and turns the reader couldn’t predict and it became increasingly harder to put down . A fantastic book that I would recommend to anyone.
Thank you to Netgalley, Penguin Books and Jane Fallon for letting me read this book in exchange for an honest review

Jane Fallon’s books always have me hooked from the first few pages, and this one was the same. I love her writing style and storylines.

Laura’s marriage has broken up and her house purchase has fallen through, so she needs somewhere to rent, and quickly. She finds a small flat above the garage of a beautiful house, which is in a small road of similar properties. In a neighbourhood like this, there’s always a Queen Bee and here it’s Stella. Laura gets unwittingly dragged into a lie told to Stella by her fiancée and this makes her suspicious of Laura’s motives. Stella also detests Laura, of course.

Then some of the other neighbours start to take Stella’s side, so Laura is determined to set the record straight and reveal Al for what he really is. So the two women join forces! A brilliant read that was hard to put down.

Thank you to NetGalley and Penguin UK Michael Joseph for an advance reader copy in return for an honest review.

I always really enjoy Jane Fallon's books, so I was delighted to be approved for an early copy of her latest. This was a really good read, full of all the drama and humour I've come to expect from her work. My only criticism would be that it perhaps took slightly longer to 'get going' than I might have liked - but once it did, I was as hooked as always.

I was given an ARC from NetGalley in exchange for an honest and independent review.
To start with I really did not like the story. I found the snobbism and the attitude of the women against Laura totally grating. But the story is very well told with humour and emotion so it was easy to become engaged and involved. The characters are interesting, well developed and totally credible.
Easy and quick read. 4 stars

Jane fallon has always been one of my go to authors and this book did not disappoint

The book explores money, happiness and relationships.

Throughout reading this book, I had some serious desperate housewives vibes. I think anyone who watched that tv programme will absolutely love this book

The book is told from Laura’s point of view and I loved hearing the secrets unravelling.

I really enjoyed this book and perfect for fans of anyone who loved women contemporary fiction

An enjoyable read but lacking the normal flair that this author brings. I just wasn't hooked, the story was fun but it felt a bit flat. I think the fact that Laura was so irritating might have been a factor, she knew she was making bad decisions and yet....

An enjoyable lockdown diversion with some fairly stereotypical characters and no real surprises along the way. I did find it dragging quite a lot in the middle but it kept my attention to the end.
Thank you to netgalley and penguin books for an advance copy of this book

A new Jane Fallon novel always excites me. She never fails to keep me hooked from beginning to end, and Queen Bee was no different.

Laura was the perfect leading character for this tale full of revenge. I was her biggest cheerleader throughout.

Jane’s humour and knowledge of the genre really shines out of the pages. She grabs you hook, line and sinker, and her fabulous storytelling combined with astonishingly accurate descriptive scenes and dialogue make it an exciting and, in my case, read in one go story.

The plot was so much fun to follow, and the characters were even better. It really goes high up in my best books of 2020.

Queen Bee is quite simply BRILLIANT.

Unfortunately this just wasn't for me. It takes a very long time to get to the core conflict and when you do it's not really worth the wait. Jane Fallon is a fantastic writer and I've loved previous books by her, but this one just wasn't to my taste. I hope others enjoy it.

A clever and caustic look at life for the haves and the have nots. How much difference does it make to have it all? Does it guarantee a happy ending? Can true friendship be formed between those at opposite ends of the social scale? A peek behind the doors of the super rich...and what you find might not always be what you expect. Terrific.

I really enjoyed this book, seeing how a newcomer to the close went from being an outsider to the closest friend and confidante to the queen bee. It’s a light hearted summer read. Good fun and won’t tax your brain.

Jane has written a truly absorbing, plausible novel. A new author for me, but one I will look out for and read more of. It was an enjoyable and original.

Another great book from Jane Fallon.

In this story, we see Laura move into a rented room in The Close until she finds a new home for her and her daughter to move into following a split from her husband. The Close is an exclusive road that homes the ultra-rich, whilst Laura is a working-class owner of her own cleaning business, Needless to say, she is not as welcome as she should be, that is until she discovers a secret about a couple of the residents.

I will say no more but Fallon does what she does best - writes a gripping story about villains and women scorned. An absolutely fabulous page turner. Highly recommended.

This was a light hearted and enjoyable read that I skipped through quickly. The story was fun- Laura moves into a garage apartment in a rich neighbourhood after a relationship breakdown and meets Stella, who is the “Queen Bee” of The Close.
After a misunderstanding early on, Stella will not talk to Laura and turns the rest of the residents against her. However Laura runs a cleaning company and she discovers something about Stella’s life whilst snooping around the offices she cleans. She has to decide whether to reveal this information to Stella despite finding her irritating and rude.
The characters were great- Laura, hardworking and serious, trying to get over her marriage breakdown whilst running her company and looking for a house to buy for herself and her daughter, Betsy.
Stella seems to be a character who has few charms but as the book moves along the reader does feel some sympathy for her predicament whilst laughing at her behaviour and her lack of knowledge about normal, everyday life.
This is a perfect Summer read, chicklit at its finest and oh so easy to get into which is ideal for a lockdown read.
I will definitely keep an eye out for Jane Fallon’s next book having read both this one and her last, Faking Friends.
Thanks to NetGalley and the publishers for my arc in exchange for an honest review.

This reminded me a bit of desperate housewives. An easy read, ideal for a beach or holiday read as it isn't too difficult to get into and it trots along at a reasonable pace. I love Jane Fallon's books as a rule however this one, although beautifully written, wasn't for me. I found it quite inplausable in places and found i didn't invest in the characters as I have in her other books.

My thanks to NetGalley and Penguin UK, Michael Joseph for a copy of this novel in exchange for a fair review

I really loved this book.

When Laura becomes a lodger on a very expensive street she just wants to get over her divorce, however, she soon gets entangled with the lives of the very rich ladies that live there with an unexpected storyline.

It is funny, genuine, intriguing and a thoroughly enjoyable read!

Jane Fallon really knows how to stir the hornet’s nest!

This book delves into the wonderful world of the Wag.

Laura’s marriage has broken down so her and her daughter find a studio above a garage to live. This is not ordinary studio though, it is attached to a beautiful house on The Close, where all the “ladies who lunch” live. But who is the Queen Bee and when Laura finds out a terrible secret, will she tell?

Jane’s humorous portrayal of these rich, pampered women made me laugh out loud. I felt like a fly on the wall as she laid bare their relentless striving for perfection, their snobbery and jealousy.

I must admit not once did I feel any sympathy for these women. Even when the chips were down, you just knew they would emerge stronger and richer!

Although it took a while, i did eventually get into this book.

Whenever I realise that I have requested a book by this author, I never know how it's going to pan out. I really do seem to either love or despise her work.

This one, I loved.

Laura finds herself unexpectedly single and finds herself renting a studio flat in an area populated by the super rich.
