Thank you to the publisher for the opportunity to read and review this book. I enjoyed this one as much as the one about JK. I hope to read more work from Moss. Even though I read Michelle's Obama's book "Becoming", I still felt like I learned something from this.

I have copies of Caroline Moss’s other Work It, Girl books in my library and my students love them - they will be so excited for this new one! I love that the biography format is still kid friendly and there are eye catching and colorful illustrations to break up the text. The short chapters make the book feel more manageable to students as well. I love the spreads with important quotes and how there are reflection tips and questions at the end for readers to apply to their own lives. Another great addition to the series! Thank you, NetGalley for the ARC!

This book was simply amazing. I found that it told the story of Michelle Obamas life so far in a detailed yet easily digestible way which is great for the age group it is aimed at. The illustrations were beautiful and helped with the story telling. I found out so much more about Michelle Obama and I would totally recommend it to everyone.

I recently read Becoming by Michelle Obama and fell
I love with her narrative and story telling. I love reading about strong inspirational women that I somehow can relate to. So I was super happy when Netgally granted my request and went into it straight away. I was not disappointed from a new take of her story, particularly as it’s suitable for the younger audiences with out leaving important sad moments of her life. I consider very important to keep those moments as they make us who we are.
My only criticism is that I think it needed few more illustrations and perhaps activities that could follow up on her legacy as the First Lady, such as practicing a sport or doing some physical exercise or a healthy recipe even something like plant a flower or a herb would bee a great addition to the book.

I wish I could rate this 10 stars! My nine year old daughter is so enamored of Michelle Obama. This book really kept her interested and she was able to understand it all. What a well-written and illustrated book.

The ARC of this book was provided by the publisher via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

"Work it, girl" is a new series of empowering biographies featuring modern women.
These biographies are short yet detailed: that’s because they’re books for children, so it’s totally understandable.
I think they are a very smart and wonderful way to introduce little children to such important figures.
This one here is about Michelle Obama. I loved knowing about her big family, her relationship with her beloved father, her great imagination when she was at school and her respect for her mother.
Michelle's years at Princeton and Harvardwere inspirational.
I didn't know how Michelle and Barack met and started dating, so it was really cool to come to know the details.
I believe all this little book is very inspirational, and Michelle Obama is a great woman and leader.

This title is part of a series on accomplished women that is geared for those who are between the ages 9-12.  Other titles in the series have been about J.K. Rowling, Oprah Winfrey and Mae Jemison.  In this one, young readers will be inspired by Michelle Obama.

The story begins when Michelle is eight and wakes up on her birthday.  Readers spend time with Michelle and her close family.  They learn about how important school was to Michelle and about her dream to follow her brother to Princeton, only for a guidance counselor to tell her that she might not be "Princeton material." The authors talk about how this made Michelle feel and acknowledges that one cannot always listen to or believe those around them.  And, yes, Michelle made it to Princeton where she had mentors and thought big for herself.

From here the book goes on to describe Michelle's early jobs, meeting Barack and, of course, the presidency.  Attention is paid to how Michelle found her way to programs that had meaning to her while First Lady and how she inspired others thought initiatives on areas like healthy eating.

The book ends noting Michelle's accomplishments after the White House like her successful biography.

Throughout the book there are quotes from Ms. Obama that show her personality, dreams and strength.  The illustrations throughout are original and appealing.

At the end of the book there are tips on how to become a leader like Michelle  and a section on questions for readers to answer.  There is alps a bibliography.

This book is an excellent addition to an excellent series.  I hope that it will inspire girls to achieve all that they can and to believe in themselves.

Many thanks tho NetGalley and the publisher for this title in exchange for an honest reveiw.

I thought this was a cute biography about Michelle Obama. I think kids can really understand who she is and how she is changing the world for a better place. How while she was first lady she tried and help kids all around the world to become better people and try to grow up and think they can help make a difference in the world. I think this is such a great series for children to learn about people like them and to show them that anyone can make a difference.
