I received an advanced reader copy of this book to read in exchange for an honest review via netgalley and the publishers.

This book includes topics surrounding LGBTQ (parents and romance), adoption, consent and focuses on accepting people for who they are.
The main focus is with Caro who is insecure with herself but is really in love with a boy so buys pills to make her appear more attractive to draw his attention so that he will date her. I found the book quite a cute and nerdy read which was very funny in places, but there were parts that I felt a bit conflicted with.
Would recommend to anyone who wants a nice quick and easy contemporary read.

Thanks again for my arc

I will not be giving feedback on this book as I couldn’t really get into it but I think others may enjoy it.

Didn't realise until I began reading that this was a chapter sample. I enjoyed the sample however felt I couldn't get into this. Happy to pick up this book in full and revisit rsting as feel it doesn't fully reflect what the true potential of this book could be.

I didn’t realise when requesting that this was just a chapter sample, but what a great chapter sample it was!

Thank you to the publisher for my eARC copy of this book. Unfortunately I didn’t love this book and therefore didn’t finish, I just didn’t connect with this one. Not for me, sorry.

Absolutely hilarious, I also really adored Vati, as I’m sure everyone did. Lovely queer room-com, perfect for a lazy Sunday afternoon where you want to laugh, smile and feel good!

I loved this book so much that after recieving the chapter sampler I bought the book! Caro was a great main character and seeing her grow and fall in love with her best friend was just perfect. This has made me fall in love with Rom-coms again!

This is hilarious and so so cute. And exactly what I needed. I can’t wait to give her other books a try!

I didn't realize when I requested this that it was just an extract, otherwise I wouldn't have requested it as I am not a fan of extracts. However, I am a massive fan of Laura Steven's books, and this extract has got me very excited to read this book, hopefully soon!

This is a book that I've seen here and there, and the premise intrigued me. From the sample given, it's clear that the voice of this book is strong, and definitely feels reminiscent of a teen movie that you'd find on Disney Channel, which is exactly what suits the book. It's a solid start to the book, and while it's by no means enough to make a judgement on the book as a whole, I'm intrigued and will probably be picking this up at some point.

Since this was just a sampler, I cannot judge a lot except that it really made me wanna read the whole book.
The premise is as weird as it is creative and in these few pages, the execution was excellent.
The twists were funny and unexpected and I really loved the chemistry of the three friends.
As a German myself, I had to cackle at the use of the word "Vati" because I haven't heard that one since the last century.
Nonetheless the sampler gave me enough insight to get ro love the characters and writing style and crave more of the story.

As a natural scientist this book sounded super intriguing to me!
It’s definitely something else than any other YA romance I read before so I was excited to be able to get an ARC.

It was really cute and funny, there’s awkward situations as always and I appreciate that!

I am really looking forward to reading the rest of the story since this sadly didn’t include the whole book.

The Love Hypothesis seems perfect for fans of Holly Bourne's books and also teen movies such as Mean Girls and John Tucker must die.
It combines relatable female characters with the fantastical element of buying a real love spell online.
Set in a high school the friendships between the main characters seemed realistic and natural. With the girls natural back and forth banter.
However some of the humour felt a little forced for me, especially with the amount of cringey names made up about the "Bonepocalypse".
The fact that her parents having an LGBT relationship was great to see for representation and relatability. I haven't seen many novels incorporate this aspect.
The main theme I think that will resonate with readers, especially with young girls, is that they see a version of themselves in our main character. They are not alone in feeling not good enough and constantly comparing their looks/personality against their peers. The character growth and realisations will hit home with a lot of readers in my opinion.
Flawed main characters are important to read about so that the "ideal" person isn't a perfect, unrealistic and unattainable character.
Here we have a young girl trying to navigate her way through high school with friends and family along for the ride.

i really enjoyed laura stevens' book, the exact opposite of okay, so i was keen to read more from her esp when i read the blurb for this and its romantic science

following a student's project into love and what makes us attracted to someone, it's a rollercoaster of emotions and i could never predict what was coming next

i really enjoyed the writing which was as sharp and funny as in her debut and it really tugged on my heartstrings

also always great to see lgbtqia+ rep!!

I enjoyed the sampler chapter here - I got an immediate sense of the protagonist's personality and the wider supporting cast. It sounds like such an interesting concept and I would like to find out more about the book.

I felt like it had the pitfall of many YA books written by adults where it feels like the author is trying slightly too hard to make relevant cultural references, to the point that there are too many that are shoehorned in rather than coming up naturally.

However, I did really enjoy the writing style and can see this being a book full of awkward situations and misunderstandings that would definitely appeal to a YA audience.

Thank you to the publisher and Netgalley for a sample of this book.

Even though I only read a chapter, I really enjoyed it. The characters were really likeable and there were some really funny one-liners and events!

I will definitely be picking up this book.

So fun and sweet and I loved all the different themes and conversations this book brought up. It's not as laugh out loud as I was expecting but I did have a really fun time reading this book!
Would definitely recommend for anyone looking for a quirky read that guarantees a smile!

The sample of The Love Hypothesis was an interesting read and made me want to know more. The friendships displayed showed a lot to be explored, and the main character feels like the loveable main character from any romcom.

Will for sure be picking the full book up in the future!

The Love Hypothesis by Laura Steven is a heartfelt, funny, and entertaining read. I really, really enjoyed reading this one, and I'm glad I decided to pick it up, after having Laura Steven on my radar for a while now. After reading this, I am definitely interested in reading more of her work.

I loved the parental relationship in this! The relationship Caro had with her two dads was beautiful, and they both had outstanding, quirky, personalities. (Dad reminded me so much of Captain Holt from Brooklyn Nine-Nine).

I really enjoyed the friendships Caro had. I don't want to go in to too much detail with them, since I don't want to give away any spoilers, but it felt like a very real, and honest portrayal of friendship. Their relationship was good. And then it was rocky. And then it was somewhere in between. Ultimately, this was a story of how friendships (and relationships) change - and that's okay. People can grow apart, other people can grow closer, and that is fine.

It was a story about self-acceptance, in all walks off life: friendships, romantic relationships, familial. And it was really good to read. Caro went on an amazing journey of self-realisation. Again, it's hard to say much without spoiling but I loved how she was able to self-reflect on her own behaviour. The journey she want on made her more mindful, more accepting, more empathetic, and more honest. I love her. She had such a fantastic narrative voice, and I was invested in her story.

Also, this story was incredibly funny. I have a bunch of favourite LOL moments highlighted. And a bunch that made me cry, too.

What a great book.

This wasn’t what I was expecting when I downloaded this extract, but this is full of funny one liners and a pretty interesting storyline.

The writing flows nicely and I’m looking forward to reading the whole book and exploring the diverse characters and storyline.

I loved this even more than I thought I would hen I started it! There were some aspects to Caro that I understood and even though I didn't want to understand her need to take pills to make her irresistable because she thinks she's not worth anything if she's not admired, I did. The world right now, with so much social media, is.. well I wouldn't call it toxic immedately, but it's definitely bordering that, and I think the feeling that a lot of people get because of thet is something that Steven definitely conveyed.

Other things I loved was the family dinamic, I really need to read more books with families like these. I loved the discussions about consent aswell! So important!

I would have loved a slower paced ending though, it was wrapped up a bit too fast for my liking.
