I loved 'Deliver Me' by Karen Cole, and so I had high expectations going into 'Deny Me'. Fortunately, I ended up really enjoying this thriller and all the twists and turns. While it is not the best thriller out there it is definitely an enjoyable one, and one I would recommend.

Jessica has returned from Spain following a difficult relationship and is now back living with her parents.

Her mother has early stage Alzheimers and is insisting she saw a neighbour push his wife from the upstairs balcony. The wife died following a fall and Jessica worries that, in spite of her dementia onset, she is right.
What follows is Jessica coming to terms with her early family life whilst trying to discover the truth of what happened with the neighbour.

I found it slow and plodding at times, but, it certainly has some good twists and turns if you stick with it.

A decent read which for me is a 2.5 stars. However, I've rounded it up based upon the good twists and turns.

Thanks to NetGalley and the publishers for the opportunity to preview in exchange for my honest review.

This is a suspense story centring around Jessica and the secrets that her family hold. The story is easy to read and I flew through it quickly whilst I guessed the ending halfway through it was still a good read.

Many thanks to the publishers and netgalley for the advanced copy in exchange for an honest review.

Karen Cole does it again.

I really loved Deliver Me - it was refreshing and it kept me guessing the entire way through - so when I saw Deny me, I KNEW I had to read it.

Brilliant. She kept me guessing most of the way through, and I definitely guessed the twist, but I think that is just because I am now familiar with her writing style I guessed it through that - not because the story lead it that way. It was wickedly clever, it did have two/three storylines at the same time, but they linked in perfectly and left no questions needing answering. Brilliant

What a book!

I really didn’t see the twist coming at all. Good pace that kept me interested throughout.

Can’t wait to read more by this author.

Thank you to Netgalley for the preview of this book. Having read Coles books before I had high expectations. I was not left down. It is dark twisty & gripping. The ending is one that you don't see coming & was an excellent ending to a great book.

Jessica has returned to live with her parents after living in Spain for 3 years. While in Spain she lost her job, had a nasty break up and suffered a mental break down. Jess settles in quickly to helping her father care for her mother, who is in the early stages of Alzheimer’s. When her mother tells Jess that their neighbor killed his wife, Jess fears her mother’s illness is moving more quickly than expected. There is a great deal of plot twisting in this novel snd it had me on edge trying to decide what would happen next. Thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for allowing me to be an early reader in exchange for my fair and honest review.

If I hadn't been so tired of an evening, I could've read this in one sitting and not three, it was that kind of compelling.

This was my first foray into the intriguing mind of Karen Cole, and the impact was such that I've immediately bought her debut novel Deceive Me. I find it fascinating how women are so much better than men at writing in this genre.

Going on the brief description, and my penchant for psychological thrillers, this novel could have gone either way with its ability to capture the reader from the opening chapter. In my case, hook, line and sinker. And the suitably excellent twists as the novel went on kept me hooked. It took me a while to grasp the who and the why, and in all honesty, I was perfectly disturbingly surprised.

It's not a difficult read, not taxing enough to wear you out, but drives you comfortably through at a steady pace, and as with all good thrillers, there's a race to the end whihc was well worth the journey.

This one was pretty twisty- some more obvious than others but still an enjoyable ride. 3.5 rounded up.

Ooh that epilogue at the end. Did not see it coming!

I chose to read this one based the premise, in addition to the alleged “killer twist” which, in fact, was definitely difficult to guess.

A woman is claiming that she saw the neighbor next door push his wife from the third floor window. This woman is suffering from Alzheimer’s, and her daughter - the protagonist - is diagnosed with “depression with psychosis”.

I hadn’t guessed any the twists while racing through this pacy whodunnit, and the ending twist that I was curious about will definitely appeal to you if you’re fascinated by the ways childhood trauma can manifest itself.
