Julia wants to be popular with her neighbour and she even goes as far as to try to dress the same, get invited to her parties and follow her home decor. Whilst she is chatting to her friend about the "sex on legs" husband that she fantasies about. Until she's at Lexi's party and two mobile phones get muddled up and these WhatsApp messages are leaked to the whole street. It just so happens her other friend Amber sees an altercation and picks Julia up they don't stop driving until they hit France. Can Julia make a life for herself? Will she return to her life as she knows it? Are their bigger lessons to learn?

The description of the book drew me in alongside the short and snappy title which spoke of sun, sea and adventure.

This book covers some very emotional but modern topics which is essential to be spoken about. This book really turns traditions, old beliefs and values on their head to fit into modern society. Such as investing, corporate ladder climbing, marrying, single parenthood, keeping up with the Jones' as well as being stifled in a relationship amongst other things. All of these topics are written with such empathy and understanding behind them while two characters are brought together by their differences.

This book should be circulated amongst the young adults and older teens to show that life on social media is not always how that person's life is and that actually being unique is important rather than trying to live through other people.

At the beginning of the book (first 3 chapters) I felt it a bit of a slow start and like I'd already read it/ recognisable plot. I checked everything and I hadn't so I continued and i'm glad I did. but for this reason I am giving I 4.5 stars out of 5 as opposed to a solid star rating because it was just for a very brief period I had these thoughts and rhe rest of the book was 5 stars.

This is a heartwarming read of self discovery, love and friendship. I always enjoy Jenny Oliver's books, and I love the way she writes characters so vividly.
Julia is lost, timid and a bit of a sheep. She thinks she wants to be like the 'cool' women on her street but after an unfortunate mix up with her mobile phone at a party, finds herself running away to France with her neighbour Amber.
Amber is tough, independent and generally pretty awesome, but she too has some skeletons in the closet that she needs to work out.
Together the two woman bring out the best in each other, helping one and other to work out what their heart truly wants and needs.
This is a perfect holiday read, it's funny, honest and might even help you work out something about your own life that you hadn't realised before!

Firstly I wish that I had picked this one up way sooner!!

Jenny Oliver has this masterful way of weaving a couple of people's stories together in such a seamless way and this is no exception. I loved all the antiques fairs as a thrifter myself! This book genuinely made me laugh and cry.

Would have been a 5 star if it wasn't for the references such as someone looking sluttish

A light hearted summer read. I enjoyed the descriptions of the French antique market and the developing friendship between two very different women.

It took me a little while to get into this title, but once I had I really enjoyed it. Julia's moment of madness in response to a cringeworthy episode triggers an chain of events that lead to a very enlightening road trip through France with neighbour Amber and revelations a plenty. We all have days where we wish we could run away and Julia actual does, which makes for great reading. Definitely worth a read.

I love books like this, when you can just lose yourself in the pages and not worry about the real world.

In Cedar Road, everyone is preparing for Lexi’s ‘White Hot’ summer party. For one night, parking squabbles and petitions are put aside as neighbours sip Prosecco under the fairy lights and gather by the hot tub to marvel at Lexi’s effortlessly glamorous life with Hot Hamish.

For Julia, it’s a chance to coax husband Charlie out of his potting shed and into a shirt so they can have a welcome break from the hellish house renovation they’ve been wrestling with. And it’s a chance for Julia to pretend – just for a night – that her life is as perfect as Lexi’s.

But when, during the party, one of Julia’s WhatsApp messages falls into the wrong hands and reveals her most intimate thoughts, things reach boiling point…

Turning her back on everything, from her marriage to her interfering parents, Julia escapes with her feisty, carefree neighbour Amber to the hot and sunny climate of France, where she soon finds herself reevaluating everything she thought she knew about herself.

One Night, One Party....
One night, one party - one huge consequence. When the secrets are out, the chips are down - what’s to be done? Uplifting escapism, amusing and engaging in equal measure. Entertaining and enjoyable reading.

I really liked the way this story started and the dynamics of those friendships. It was a great story which was easy to read. I enjoyed following their adventure and in particular, the descriptions.

it tells the story of Julia who would like nothing more than to be accepted as one of the ‘in crowd’ of Cedar Road. So when her less than favourable WhatsApp messages fall into the wrong hands, Julia does the only thing she can think of to do. She runs away.

I loved this book, it was so good I finished it very quickly I was eager to find out how it would end and I wasn’t disappointed. I’ve read other books by this author and they almost always are very readable. I found myself wanting to keep reading when I should have been doing other things which by my standards means it a brilliant book. My thanks to Netgalley and the publishers for giving me the opportunity to read this book in return for an honest review.

Found the heroine rather pathetic in her attempt to be accepted, and thus unlikable, pandering to a passive-aggressive bully in the form of her neighbor, and lusting after the neighbor's husband who turned out to be an even more aggressive bully. That she tried to push her husband by goading him and making him feel bad for not giving in to the peer pressure she willingly bowed to just proved further that she was not someone whose story I wanted to read and care about, unfortunately

This book is quite simply the perfect summer read!
I loved how unique the characters were in this story, each of them having their own flaws and obstacles to overcome. The author really did bring these characters to life wonderfully.
The friendship between Julia and Amber was an absolute joy to follow, they were different in so many ways, yet a true bond blossomed between them.

Beautifully written, perfect characterisation and a dreamy story line to go with it all... absolute perfection.

I listened to this on audiobook.

As a fan of Jenny’s books, I couldn’t wait to give her latest book a try and total bonus that I got to listen to it on audiobook which made it much more enjoyable as the narrator did a really good job, although sometimes one of the female characters voices that she did, sounded like a male at certain intervals, but it didn’t put me off.

Anyway, the story was highly enjoyable and entertaining, there were even a few laugh out loud moments, especially when Charlie had his moment on the doorstep waiting for Julie, I’ll not say anymore as wouldn’t want to ruin it for anyone.

I loved getting to know each and every one of the characters, discovering their journeys and seeing the paths they each took throughout the story, it was certainly exciting and plenty of drama all round.

So if you haven’t discovered Jenny books yet, then don’t delay any further as I can highly recommend her books as great, fun and delightful reads.

Thank you to NetGalley for providing me with an ARC.

I loved the opening to this book and found it beautifully described. I liked the idea of this story but for me it just didn't quite deliver.

I did enjoy the character development throughout the story. It was really nice to see the relationship between Julia and Amber grow and turn into a beautiful friendship and to see how their personal lives changed throughout their adventure through France.

Another perfect summer read from Jenny Oliver. Superbly captures the pitfalls of focusing on social media to the detriment of living in the moment, of savouring life, adventure and friendshIp.
Loved it & couldn’t put it down!!
