DNF. Could not get into the plot of the book. While there were interesting parts, just could not get into the flow of the book.

I hate to DNF a book I'm supposed to be reviewing, but after two years, I just have too many other books on my TBR pile to come back to this one.

As a southern girl, I found this book hilarious and relatable - and understand the desire to "re-belle". I like the Abigail is a bit of a mess in the beginning but deals with her past and learns to grow up. The character development was refreshing and enjoyable.

Really enjoyed this book. Steady paced, great characters, I was absorbed throughout. Will be reading more Keith books in the future!

This is a Christian romance that isn't too heavy on either romance or preaching. I didn't like many of the main characters. Abigail did mature as the book progressed as did her grandmother but I still didn't enjoy their journey. Even the boyfriend was a little hard to believe. The message of God fixing problems is a good one but I just couldn't get into this story. I received a copy of this ARC in exchange for a fair and honest review.

I wanted to love this book, I am such a fan of southern fiction, but this book falls flat for me and while I liked it, I didn't love it. The story was a bit repetitive and frustrating. It had such potential, but did not follow through for me.

What a great story! Started a little slow for me but then I couldn’t put it down! Abby is a total wreck, everything she touches turns into a disaster! It started with her parents dying. Come and read her stories, and find out if she can learn to love again, herself and others!

I read and reviewed this advanced complimentary copy of this book from NetGalley

Super cute! Being a Southerner myself, I found a lot of joy in this book and wish it would have been longer! Cute read!

This was the equivalent of Dawson's Creek for adults.

The self destruction, self hatred, and page long self introspective conversations were cute at first... then got wearing. Maybe its me, maybe its the time, but it got old about 75% of the way through. Just accept the love Abbie!! There are worse characters out there, but I just wanted to witch with a b=slap her into accepting things...

And you don't want me to ever want to do that to a character....

I voluntarily read and reviewed an ARC of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

A Southern Girl Re-Belles, by Sharon Brown Keith, was originally published in November of 2019 It's a wicked take on life in the South, Texas is kinda included in that. Our main character, Abbie, is presented as selfish, immature, not a very good friend, and not paying attention to her train wreck of a life. She's worn out her welcome, lost her job, & on probation for a DWI. She's whiney and not likeable at first. She gets better when she sobers up. Her grandmother is a typical Steel Magnolia, always right, always proper, always a little stiff, & mostly a pill to anyone other than the DAR members. Nana gets hold of Abbie and it's straighten up and fly right time. I'm giving 4 stars because the very first paragraph had me laughing. Even awful things happening had a way of being so real they were funny. How we react to situations and gallows humor. I could see Abbie in several women of my acquaintance and sometimes myself. Ms Keith has life in a small Southern town down pat. I liked the hero, Bo, wish he were real. Great guy, a keeper, with the patience of Job. Southern Girl was a fun, mostly, rainy weekend read.

The story opens with Abby crashing into a church’s nativities scene fortunately only plastic animals were injured and baby Jesus was unharmed. Abby does try to get her best friend MG to tell the police she was driving but it does not fly with MG pregnant and the seat to close to the steering wheel. Being arrested and held accountable she has to pay for the damages, ends up on probation with a man named Tooter Dugan, what a name. she of course now figures that everyone in her small town knows which is true and she also losses her job.
Then she gets a call from her grandmother’s care facility that she needs to leave right away, the reason you need to read about. When Abby arrives, she also is now in violation of her probation by having left the county. Turns out her grandmother and others are prepared to take care of her problem. Now she must live with her and be under her rules.
With the story taking a turn you begin to find out her history and where her life changed her junior year of high school. The story changes with her being required to do community service and go to therapy where she begins to change along with the people, she meets Bo and someone else. Yes, there are moments where you want to be mad at her and the grandmother but they stay true to the characters all the way through the book. A good story that was better than I thought it would be.

This book changes a lot about half the way through it. It starts off full of Southern humor and irreverence. Readers learn of the tragedy that Abbie has allowed to rule her life and self-destruction. When Abbie’s grandmother needs her help due to medical issues and getting kicked out of a nursing facility for her behavior, Abbie pulls herself together enough to face her often disapproving matriarch. While reconnecting with Nana, Abbie must complete community service and comply with probation. Abbie learns more about herself and lefts go a bit of her grief. She embraces her spiritual side more and allows the blessings she has to work for her. I didn’t like Abbie too much at the beginning but she definitely grew on me!

Unfortunately I could not finish this one. I could not relate to the protagonist at all. The opening scene is where Abigail has just had a motor vehicle accident after having had a few drinks and she is trying to convince her pregnant friend to take the blame. Then there is a multi page rehash of her past and what happened to make her into what she is today. Too much woe-is-me, immaturity and disrespect for my taste.

I enjoyed this book until I found out that the main character, Abbie, was 41. The way she was acting I thought she was no older than 25. After losing her parents her very southern Nana comes to take care of her. Abbie rebels in every way and is eventually disowned by her Nana. After twenty years of not talking Abbie is suddenly in her Nana's life. Frankly Abbie is not a likable person and I found I was hoping Nana would give Abbie a sift kick in the butt.

Sorry not really for me this, didn’t find the main character likeable and I think because of that I struggled to stay interested, I’m sure others will enjoy it, but not one for me sorry

The story of Abbie, back living with her Nana after crashing her car, lying to the police and losing her job. Will she let her Nana help her, and what will happen to her friendship with Bo?

I was immediately disappointed with the protagonist. She is extremely dislikable with little to no redeeming qualities and a serious victim attitude that makes her lash out and ruin her own life. I tried to read further than my personal 50 page minimum but just couldn't push through it. Solid pass.

A hot mess of a woman Abbie has one last chance to turn everything around but it’s up to her to make the changes needed and Nana though old fashioned just might be able to help her if only Abbie could see what she sees!

With the help of some good friends Abbie starts to see there’s so much more to life and so much more to her! She is stronger than she knows and has the most loving heart!

Though at times Nana was rude and I wanted to shake her I found that her tough love was what Abbie needed to realize her potential!
