What parent hasn't experienced their child complaining of boredom. A very relatable book with a funny main character. A fun read.

This was a cute little book about a kid that is bored all the time, but there's actually quite a bit of imagination in this little book.

I love the entire idea behind this beautifully executed book. There is a little of me in Ben, the boy who is *bored* and the flight of fantasy the author invokes here makes me feel like my older and complacent self has been given a boot in the rear to take time more seriously. An excellent title and a joy for all ages.

I enjoyed this story, it acknowledges that being bored doesn't have to be a bad thing, it can lead to things that aren't so boring, as Ben discovers. He's declared himself the King of Boredom, you see, but a proper King must have a throne, and a castle, and then a court and a Queen, and there are duties to be performed, and pretty soon, Ben isn't so bored any more. The ending is a little abrupt, but over all, a good story with colorful, engaging illustrations that will certainly help combat being bored.

What parent hasn't lamented over the words, "I'm bored." It is this worst. But what if that boredom was embraced? That is just what Ben has done. He cannot be bothered by anything. He goes so far as to crown himself "King of Boredom" - but then, to be king, he needs a few things. In this story, a very bored kid creates a kingdom to honor his boredom - which seems to take up quite a bit of his time!

It's quirky and cute with nice artwork and a sweet message (that may be more for parents than kids)!

I really loved this story, and found myself chuckling along at how, well, boring, Ben was. With his love of all things bland, and a complete lack of enthusiasm, Ben ends up declaring himself King of Boredom. With a lovely twist, Ben realizes that being the King of such a boring kingdom of his making is actually quite enjoyable,

I feel like this children's book will be even more appropriate now than the author ever could've imagined. With most children stuck inside for the foreseeable future, there will surely be a LOT of bored children in the future.

Not sure how I feel about this book...there were some cute parts but to be honest it has sort of a weird message. I'm not sure that kids would really connect to the character or think the story was that engaging. Illustrations were nice.

Ben is bored. He was bored yesterday... he's bored today... and if things don't change... he'll be bored tomorrow. He is thin and pale and loves the colour grey and plain pasta. In his spare time he adores gazing into space. His blah moods don't change even if the seasons and weather do or even his position. What in the world is wrong with Ben?

He crowns himself the Supreme King of Boredom, because he is. Those around him try to perk him up and encourage him to shred that dark cloud that envelopes him. They want him to replace it with excitement and adventure in his life. But, alas, to no avail. Ben is a just plain lame.

After declaring himself Supreme King of Boredom he decides that every King needs a throne. Right? He busies himself making a cool one out of a cardboard. Next he designs a castle to go with the throne and then adds subjects to his royal court made out of stuffed animals. My goodness he even transforms one of his stuffed toys into a Queen. Maybe, just maybe, life is not as boring as Ben makes it out to be. As Ben imagines and creates he discovers that his attitude changes too... changes for the better. Instead of seeing the glass half empty, he now sees it half full. What a revelation!

The illustrations greatly enrich the textual message and are filled with details. This book celebrates creativity, individuality, and uniqueness. Parents and teachers will delight at the innovation and imagination that is sparked as a result of fostering a child's need for alone time. Dyslexia-friendly font creates accessibility for all readers. Alone can be a good thing. I highly recommend this book.

King of Boredom is the book I've always wanted to read to my students when they complain about how they're "bored." I love how it shows that boredom is the place where imagination grows. I can't wait to share it with them!

A delightfully funny and hugely appropriate story for children who dare to utter those three words, “I am bored”!
Boredom is necessary for imaginations to run truly wild.
Super illustrations bring the Kingdom of Boredom to life and make Ben truly relatable!

This is such a great book to spark creativity and discussion. The boy in this book is always bored. It doesn’t matter what is going on, he is never amused or entertained. Except when he least expects it, he begins to have fun.

Ok I am bit confused about this book.May be its just me but I didn't get the purpose of this book.Illustrations are cute but story is just alright.

A lovely story that teaches kids the power of boredom and our own imaginations. The self proclaimed King of Boredom is a little boy who likes all things boring. One day he has a lot of fun being soooo bored!

Delightful little picture book about a boy who declares himself the King of Boredom. As he builds his kingdom around him and has toy guests, he suddenly realises...he almost enjoyed himself.
Great message for a perpetually bored child! Excellent illustrations, especially when reading with adults (pointing-out potential). Just one lil note: think it should read “courtiers” not “courtesans” ;)

A story about how imagination can inspire even the most bored child. Great to read with children, especially if they are complaining that they are bored. The story is cute and the illustrations are great.
