This book is a good fit for readers who enjoy contemporary romance novels with a focus on personal growth, trust, and the exploration of relationships in the face of external challenges.

I wanted to like it, but the chemsitry between the character felt bland and meh. I just did not like that, or the female main character.

I enjoyed this romance story with all of the characters. The main characters were Phoebe Danvers and Huxley Carson

Phoebe Danvers investigative journalist job put her in danger a lot. This time a guy comes to save her. But she doesn't want anything to do with him.

Huxley Carson is an ex-FBI agent that decided to turn PI. When Phoebe draw trouble to herself he there to help her.

This was a fun story to read. It has action, suspense, adventure, secrets and a little drama throughout. It also had a few laughs throughout.

I received a complimentary copy via Netgalley. This is my honest unbiased opinions.

I actually really liked this book. The plot was so sweet in a seductive alpha male way, but the female lead was still full of passion and spark. Hope Jones really is a great author and gives us the female leads we demand of good books.

I truly wanted to love this book more than I did but unfortunately it just didn't do it for me. While I thought the writing was amazing, I just could not form a connection with Phoebe that sucked me in and I wanted too so badly. I also would have LOVED more from Huxleys POV. Don't get me wrong, this book is a fun and light read with some good steam and an alpha hero but it could have been more.

OH MY GOODNESS! SHUT THE FRONT DOOR! SHE DID IT AGAIN! 😍😍😍😍😍

Hope Jones has done it again, giving me a beautiful, swoony, unforgettable, unputdownable romance with this brand spanking new book. She created the PERFECT couple Huxley and Phoebe, an OTT alpha male that makes the perfect book boyfriend and one heroine you'll be crushing so very haaaaaard on right from when you first meet her.

Hope delivered all the best words in her debut book last year and just like then, I've got another favorite from her.

Surrendering to Him is a standalone romance that was sexy, sweet, swoony, steamy, and a touch suspenseful at times. It's a fast-paced romance, you won't be able put down once you start (guilty as charged!)... that was packed with all of the best feels, seized my heart in many, many moments, had me squirming in my seat from all the steamy heat, and left me wanting soooooo. much. more.

If this is the kind of writing and authors BOOM Publishing is putting out, sign me up every single time! New-ish author Hope Jones has found her knack in her genre and I hope she never stops writing books like the two she's written and released.

A TOP READ FOR ME THIS YEAR!

I highly recommend this must-read book.

I am a huge fan of a well written romance, and this book certainly ticked all the right boxes for me.
Fun, edgy and steamy, this book really had me hooked. I loved the characters, the storyline, and the way in which the romance panned out. A really enjoyable read.

This had the potential to be more but the characters and story didn’t have much depth to them. I felt very meh about the whole book and really struggled to finish it. I would give this Author another try though, cause I see some potential in liking her stuff, this one just wasn’t for me.

I guess we'll start with the male lead Huxley who is the local private investigator. He takes Phoebe who works for her local paper from the sheriffs office because he knows she's in danger, caveman style over the shoulder. Then he locks her in his office, when he returns they argue and next thing ya know not even 10 pages in do they kiss after he kidnaps her...
It was too instant for me, no build up and just felt like something was missing from the relationship.
The positive had to be the case which they are trying to solve, I enjoyed that aspect. I think I got my hopes up because the synopsis sounded so good. Low three stars for me sadly

This cover is exquisite and the blurb so deeply intriguing.

Those are the only two things keeping this from being a 1* review.

I wish I didn’t have to say that. I went into this story with immense excitement. I snuggled down in my bed with some raspberry iced tea, cracked open my Kindle… and was disappointed by page two.

The author starts with showing our “heroine” jarred awake in the faux cell where she’s being held. Then the author breaks the fourth wall (this is personal taste, but I abhor that) to give us about five pages of a flashback which is where the story should have actually started.

This is supposed to (I believe) be enemies-to-lovers and yet Hux is calling Phoebe “babe” and kissing her at an unrealistic speed.

The premise was great. The aesthetics were lovely. The execution was not.

I received this via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

Sweet, edgy, twisty and steamy romance is something you can expect from this author by now, and she certainly did not disappoint in Surrendering To Him. Huxley had all the 'alpha' traits that we all look for in a steamy read. I adored that the Hero is a ex FBI Agent - turned Private Investigator and the Heroine is a Investigative Journalist, this really added originality to the novel than a lot of other romances.

2.5 stars. If you love hyper alpha males and fast paced storylines with a lot of sexual buidup, this book is FOR you!

For me, it moved a little too fast. The book opens mid-scene with Hux already swooping in to save Phoebe. From there everything keeps speeding up. It was dizzying at times! Plus, the swiftness with which some of the plot events occurred were SO unrealistic (e.g. the house; overcoming her trauma) that it really took me out of the story. Much of their relationship actually reads like a formal sub/dom situation which I'm totally here for—except that wasn't discussed or established. It's just...how he in particular acts. Not a fan. There were also a lot of casual anti-sex worker comments that were completely unnecessary to ,make their point.

On the plus side, I'm a sucker for the build-up. I love when stories take their time getting to mutual pleasure and this book did that amazingly well. i also LOVED the side characters, especially Millie. And, TBH, I want more books in this universe. I want to read Hux's sister's second chance romance. I want each of his men to find their HEA. I would definitely read more even if they make me eye roll with the gender roles being too defined (at one point I literaly screamed, "OMG why can't he set the table?!"). And I do love the premise of this-it wasn't too scary but had that fun mystery element!

I really liked this novel. It was full of suspenseful twists and strong characters. I didn't understand how the hero instantly fell in love with the heroine. After the first week, they were practically living together. That seems pretty far-fetched. But, hopefully we haven't heard the last from these characters. I want to know what happens next!

I really enjoyed this story, I liked the suspense and the steaminess between Phoebe and Huxley it was hot at times.
Huxley is an ex-cop, ex-FBI agent and now runs his own private investigation service. He now has more control over his job than he did as a cop or agent.
Phoebe is an investigative journalist and her latest story might land her in trouble. That is when Huxley shows up to save her and steal her heart.
This couple falls quickly but with Phoebe's past, she has a fear of letting someone get close to her. Can Huxley show her that he is not going to leave? Can Phoebe trust that he will not break her heart?
This is the first story I have read from this author and I look forward to reading more from her.

I enjoyed this tale of an investigative journalist who is suddenly thrown into the orbit of an intense and handsome PI when she finds out that not everyone appreciates her skill for exposing the dark underbelly of her town.

Phoebe and Huxley were very likeable characters who had good chemistry and banter. I appreciated learning about Phoebe's backstory and why she was quite reluctant to let Huxley get close. I will say that the book starts in such a way that I felt as if I had missed quite important elements of the backstory. Some of the obstacles in the way of their relationship fall away a little too easily, but overall I thought this was a fun, quick read with a really nice couple at the heart of the story.

Thanks to NetGalley, the author and publisher for offering me the chance to read and review this title.

Books are like tea and not every book is every tea lover's cuppa. Surrendering to Him was my first book by Ms Jones and it wasn't my kind of tea. The storyline was okay and the hero, Hux Carson, was pretty amazing. Hux is a former FBI agent who now runs a private investigation firm with his friends, who also happen to be alpha, good looking, and funny. The intimate moments were really well written and made me wish for a fan. Those are the pluses.

In the "not so good" column are the heroine, Phoebe Danvers, her semi-juvenile behavior and her penchant for a three-word f* word combo. It's worth noting that the I don't find the f* word offensive; rather her frequent use of her favorite f* word combination was repetitive and annoying. Phoebe is a reporter in search of her next story. In order to find it she's willing to risk her own safety and that of those around her. I couldn't click with her and I felt like Hux was far more giving, loving and practical than she deserved. Phoebe is a great cook and a good friend to Millie, but I didn't feel her investing as much in Hux as she did in preparing dinner for his family. I also struggled with the way the book started because I felt like I landed in the middle of the story. To be fair, things evened out a few chapters in but the reader is thrown into the middle of a scene and then told how we got there over the next couple of chapters. That's a technique that can work but in this case, it didn't for me.

Again, two strong thumbs up for the bedroom scenes, the supporting characters and for being well-edited. While it wasn't for me, it's clear that most readers enjoy it so kudos to the author. Thanks to the author and Boom Factory Publishing for gifting me a review copy of this book.

I really liked this book - the chemistry between Phoebe and Huxley felt real and not forced.

You're thrown straight into the action, which was a little confusing as I thought I had missed a previous book, but its all explained by chapter 2.

I really liked how the characters interacted with each other - they talked and got to know each other rather than jumping straight into an inst-love, physical relationship.

Thank you NetGalley, Boom Factory Publishing and Hope Jones for gifting me an advance copy of this book in exchange for my honest review!
If you’re simply looking for a quick read with no expectations, this is it. Sometimes you just need a good book, one you know you’re going to enjoy just by the synopsis. I wouldn’t say this book blew me away in any way, but I wasn’t bothered that I had spent my time reading it. The main characters spark just didn’t quite catch on for me which then made it hard to connect to them throughout the story. This wasn’t the most relatable or realistic for me, but it was good!

The blurb for this book sounded great, but the writing was unbearable.. Within the short amount I was able to get through the heroine called her friend a hooked and herself a whore. This type of talk gets used often in immature authors' books as a stab at being funny or edgey. Its neither.
The start of the book is clunky and begins mid action after the heroine says she's been kidnapped by the hero Huxley. Then he steals a kiss.
I've grown up in the world of romance, cut my teeth on books by Bertrice Small and Kathleen Woodwiss so I'm not shocked by this kind of action, but it doesn't work well on top of the horrible writing.
We need authors to do better than this in 2020. Our heroine can be smart and funny without resorting to name calling. Our hero can be passionate without kidnapping man handling or stealing kisses.
