I've read a couple of books by this author before and will definitely read more! The 3 main characters are women who have been friends since they were at school. This book follows each of their lives and their own issues and problems. I did guess the motive for who was behind everything but I didn't guess one of the people involved. A great story with great characters. Read in a day. Would recommend.

One of us is lying by Shalini Boland is a story of friendship between three girls who all went to the same high school. When one of them was 15 she was sexually assaulted by a teacher she thought she really liked. When her other two friends saw that there was something wrong with her, they managed to get her to tell them and they then went to the school headmaster. The teacher was then arrested and charged and later committed suicide rather than stand trial.
All three women are grown up, two with children of their own and they are still friends and still live in the same area.
Then a series of events happen to all three women that could destroy their lives as they know it. They didn’t confide in each other or their husbands and tried to handle the situation’s themselves., which nearly ended up with them losing their lives.
Highly recommended

Kelly, Tia and Fiona are childhood friends. Kelly is a widow with two boys who are almost teenagers, while Tia is happily married with two young children. Fiona is married with no children. One day on the way home from school with her daughter, Tia is asked a question by the child that turns her world upside down. Fiona’s business is moving along nicely—until tax auditors show up one day. Kelly and her boys are finally starting to feel a bit of normalcy after the death of her husband and their father…until a woman shows up at the door asking for help. All three of these women were living a good life, but now someone is working to destroy their lives. Who is it and why?
Overall, this was a good read. I would not classify it as a page turner full of twists and turns but more of a stroll down the path of mystery. You will not be on the edge of your seat, but you will feel some empathy for the characters. Thank you to NetGalley, the author and publisher for the opportunity to review this book.

An engrossing read

Shalini Boland delivers an engrossing read, full of unreliable characters to keep you on your toes!

Tia’s young daughter asks the worst question, ‘Mummy why did you kill someone?’
Only two people knew, her best friends from School, Fiona and Kelly. However, they also have someone stirring trouble in their lives. Who knows? What do they want? What will they do?

I loved the story being told from their three points of view, which created a fast paced read. Their stories gradually unravelled and I sympathised with each of them. I couldn’t have predicted the outcome!

Thank you to Bookature and Netgalley for the ARC.

I have read other books by Ms,. Boland and this one did not disappoint! Told from the perspective of three friends whose lives are upended in different ways. Who is behind it and what do they want.

I semi figured it out part way through but that didn’t keep me from tearing through it until the end.

I’ve read all of Shalini’s previous book and loved them but I felt a bit let down by this one. I loved the portrayal of the characters and their relationships but I felt the storyline was predictable and I worked out who the perpetrators were quite early on. It won’t stop me reading future books from this author as I like her style of writing but I hope her next one is less predictable.

I know we're suppose to describe in other ways besides the always popular "unputdownable" but I'm sorry, this is unputdownable. Really mesmerizing. This is my second book by this author and I really enjoy her. Highly recommend if you like twisty mysteries.

This was the second book I've read by this author and I'm definitely a fan! 3 friends, Tia, Kelly and Fiona have been friends since high school! When This finds out from her daughter that there are rumors spreading about her, she wonders who is starting it. Could she really trust her friends?! Then Tia receives photos of her that could destroy her. The story is told from the POVs of the 3 friends, and they're all unreliable narrators. You will be on the edge of your seat trying to figure out all the secrets they hold, and who is behind all of this!! The ending was fantastic!! A very twisted, psychological thriller, and I loved it!! Highly recommend this one!!

Thank you to the publisher and netgalley for the gifted review copy, all opinions are my own!

One of Us is Lying (originally titled The Woman Who Lied) by Shalini Boland is a psychological thriller.

First, let me thank NetGalley, the publisher Bookouture, and of course the author, for providing me with a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. All opinions are my own.

My Synopsis:   (No major reveals, but if concerned, skip to My Opinions)

Tia is having some problems.  Rosie, her five-year-old, was bullied in school by some older kids who told her that her mother had killed someone.  Then, Tia receives some rather odd pictures in the mail.  What if her husband sees them?   Would Ed believe the pictures were real?

Fiona is an interior designer who is suddenly being audited.  She is afraid to tell her husband, who is a financial success and everyone's favorite.  Nathan wouldn't understand.

Kelly is known for her charity work, but when she takes in a stranger who shows up in her backyard, this may be going a little too far.  However, her son Ryan seems to be coming out of his shell finally, and she doesn't really want to kick Sophie out.  Since her husband's death, things have been hard.

These friends all have secrets, one of which happened many years ago, and of which they don't speak.  However, it looks like their carefully planned lives are starting to unravel.

My Opinions:

This was another fast and entertaining read by Shalini Boland.

The book is told from each of the women's perspectives, and in this way we learn what is happening to each.  All of the characters seemed somewhat naive.   Between accepting a stranger into your home, accepting a bullying/domineering husband as normal, and not trusting your husband enough to tell him what is going on, they all angered me at one point or other.   They didn't even trust each other.  However, I do understand that people try to keep the bad parts of their lives hidden, even from friends.

The book is about friendship and secrets.  It is about physical and emotional abuse.  It is a reminder that you never know what is going on behind closed doors....and that sometimes your past comes back to haunt you.

The book had a rather predictable ending, and I had easily guessed who was behind the stalking of these women.   But it was still a good read, and I look forward to more from this author in the future.
