I enjoy this author very much! And although this one isn’t one of my faves, it’s still a good quick read! When Tias young daughter tells her that there’s a rumor at her school saying her mom is a murderer, Tia is panicked and embarrassed. She knows it can’t be true, yet someone is saying these things along with sending her compromising pictures trying to destroy her. Unbeknownst to her, her two best friends are dealing with similar situations. Who could want to hurt the three of them and why? About half way through the book you might realize the twist. But that doesn’t make this book any less fun to read!

Am a huge fan of Shalini Boland but sorry to say this one was disappointing. Found it quite difficult to get into the flow of the story and never really connected with the characters. Bit too slow for me and somewhat predictable. This won't put me off the other books though. There are some good reviews for it though so its just a personal thing that its not for me.

Thank you Netgalley.

This was the first book I had read by Boland and I absolutely loved it. Really captivating story that sucked me in and wouldn't spit me out until I had finished.

As anyone who knows me or has read my reviews I love Shalini Boland books and this one was no exception.

The blurb on the book reads "Tia is walking home with her children, along the lakeside of their quiet, safe town, when she realises something is wrong with her five-year-old daughter, Rosie. She seems troubled, not at all her usual happy self.
But when Tia finally coaxes Rosie to open up, she wishes she hadn’t. Because her sweet daughter asks a question Tia never thought she’d hear.
‘Mummy, why did you kill someone?’". Wow who wouldn't want to read the book? .

Tia has 2 very close friends Fiona and Kelly who are also having problems in their lives which they are each keeping hidden from the others. Kelly is widowed and has a stranger turn up at her door which is the start of her problems and Fiona has the inland revenue turn up at her business to audit her books she seems nervous and reluctant to tell her husband.

The chapters alternate between each woman's story as time goes on we start to piece together what is happening in each woman's life.

I did have a feeling which characters seemed odd to me but the ending was still a surprise. Excellent book, good depth of characters and lives i as a woman could easily picture myself living.

I literally couldn't put this book down, so eager was I to get to the end. The little flashback chapters gave tempting clues to why these women had been targetted but I had no idea until the very end who their tormentors were. Shalini Boland is fast becoming one of the go to authors if you want a great fast paced psychological thriller. I look forward to her next book.

Having read Shalini Boland’s previous books, I expected a fast-paced and thrilling read. Unfortunately, I was somewhat disappointed. This was more about characterization and not so much about a quick-paced and compelling plot. Three friends, Tia, Kelly and Fiona, all have secrets and now someone is trying to expose their secrets and destroy their lives. Told from the points of view of all three of them, the story broke down for me as I tried to keep track of which chapter I was on and whose story I was reading at the time. That may have been because I was distracted by the events happening in real life, but I didn’t really relate to any of the main characters, so that may have been a reason that I didn’t like this book as well either. I just wanted the story to move along faster so I could find out who was wreaking havoc in their lives and how or if they could put the pieces back together. Although I was somewhat entertained by this book, for me there were many ho-hum parts. The secrets that were revealed and the ending were worth sticking to completion of the book, and the author did a masterful job of painting the portrait of three young women whose lives were destroyed by one past choice. Fans of suspense may enjoy this latest book by Boland.

Tia, Fiona and Kelly have been best friends for as long as they can remember, growing up together in Ashridge Falls. These three women have supported each other through good times and bad, yet now they need each other most they begin to question each other’s loyalty. Tia receives a package with some disturbing contents, Kelly opens her home to a complete stranger and Fiona has an unexpected visit from HMRC to audit her company’s finances. One by one they feel their lives changing and chaos descending, who is doing this? And why do they seem to be the brunt of malicious town gossip.
Shalini Boland’s psychological thrillers are always a roller coaster ride of fear, excitement and tension and this latest book does not disappoint. A fabulous read from start to finish.

My least favorite by this author so far 😞

I love the way Boland writes. She draws me in quickly every time! That being said, this was not nearly as suspenseful or surprising as her past stories. Don’t get me wrong - it was still a quick entertaining read just not my favorite. I will still look forward to the next one.

Review for 'One Of Us Is Lying' by Shalini Boland

Read and reviewed via NetGalley for Bookouture publishers

This is the second book that I have read by this author after loving her first one, I'm hoping this one doesn't disappoint (Written before started reading as I always start my reviews before reading). I will definitely be reading more of her books!! (Written when finished the book).

Wow!! What can I say!!! I absolutely LOVE Shalini Boland and her amazing talent!!!

I was completely sucked into this page turning psychological thriller!! From start to finish!

This book will take you on a roller-coaster ride of friendship, deceipt, suspense, heart racing tension and all the way to the explosive and unexpected ending.

Fantastically written with excellent descriptions which puts you straight in the plot with the very well rounded, strong and believable characters.

THE storyline is believable and realistic and I did not guess what/who was behind everything which is always a bonus as there's nothing worse than guessing the ending half way through a crime book.

THE storyline is told through the eyes of the three best friends Fioana, Tia and Kelly so you can see everything that is going on.

THE cover and blurb are colourful and interesting and relate well to the storyline. They also drew me in to reading the book, as well as knowing that the author has written another excellent book thay I have read and loved.

THE book also covers domestic violence which shows how men/women can control each other discreetly and may help other readers realise that they are being controlled. If this is you then please call victim support or the police or just tell someone!

I highly recommend this book to fans of psychological thrillers, crime, mystery, suspense, anyone looking for a good book and of course to fans of Shalini Boland.

*Thanks to NetGalley and Bookouture for providing this ARC in exchange for an honest review.* I have been a fan of Shalini Boland for a while now, so was excited to hear that she had another book coming out. The book seems to be published under two different titles, 'One of Us is Lying' and 'The Woman Who Lied', which briefly confused me, before working out it is the same book. Or maybe the name was changed before publication?

The story revolves around three women, Fiona, Tia and Kelly, all who are experiencing very different challenges in their lives, whilst living in an apparently idyllic little town on an English lake. Tia's daughter is upset by bulling at school, Fiona is having trouble from the tax office and Kelly is recently bereaved. I am hesitant to give too much away in terms of plots, as, typical to a novel by Boland, secrets are revealed, layer by layer. The tension is built as the story builds, leading to a pretty dramatic climax. But I shan't give away any spoilers. If you enjoy domestic thrillers (and I most certainly do), then you won't be disappointed. I look forward to Boland's next book, as I am sure there will be one.

I’m a big fan of Shalini Boland’s books and this one certainly didn’t disappoint. This is a story of three friends who share a secret of an event that happened when they were teenagers. Fiona is married to Nathan and has her own interior design business. She is really worried when two tax inspectors turn up unexpectedly to audit her business as she knows that they will find discrepancies. Tia is married to Ed but she is worried when she receives some revealing photos of herself in the post and she cannot remember the event. Then her young daughter Rosie comes home from school very upset. On questioning her Rosie tells her that someone had told her that her mum had killed someone. Kelly, the third friend, has recently been widowed and has two sons. A young woman turns up on her doorstep, seemingly in trouble and asks for her help and Kelly takes her in. But things turn wrong when the woman goes to the police and accuses Kelly of abducting her. Suddenly all the three friends have their lives turned upside down. Is their past coming back to haunt them and who knows about it? The story is told from their points of view and is full of secrets, lies, small town gossip and is full of drama and suspense, A highly recommended read.
Thanks to Netgalley and Bookouture for giving me the opportunity to read and review this book.

As always Boland always knows how to thrill, chill, and shock me! This book was another hit for Boland! Has that structured writing meant for thrillers, so you get led to where she wants you to go and when she wants you there! Plenty of twists and turns, thrills, chills, and shocks! Well written and unputdownable, will be looking for more by Boland! Highly recommend, if you’re not a fan yet, you will be after this one!
Will make sure to buzz it up on the different platforms and use low Amazon reviewer number!

Kelly, Fiona and Tia are three friends with the perfect friendship and the perfect lives... or so it seems. A rumor, an audit and mysterious woman have these three women questioning everything in their lives. Are they as close as they seem or have they turned on each other over the years? Who can they trust and who is a the enemy?

This is the first book I've picked up of Shalini Boland and I have to say I hung on to every word. This story follows the lives of three women who have been friends since childhood. They have experienced the good times and the bad times together but someone or something is trying to tear them apart. This story does an incredible job of keeping the reader engaged and gives just the right amount of detail to each of the characters. This story will have you thinking you know what's going on and then will make you question everything you know. If you like a good thriller then this is for you!

I love shalini Boland, have loved all her books and this one didn’t disappoint! I read it in one sitting and enjoyed it thoroughly - as much as some of her others!? Maybe not - but still well worth a read!

I am a big fan of Shalini Boland's books and so I was extremely happy to have the opportunity to read an advance copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

The story centres around Fiona, Tia and Kelly, who live in a small village community. One of whom was assaulted as a student and now someone is out for revenge. Suspicions abound throughout the book and we are taken down little side roads, opening up lots of room for thought before the final reveal of the book where the story all comes together nicely.

If you have read Shalini Bolan'ds books before you know you'll be in for a good read, if not, I'd highly recommend giving them a go.
