3 friends begin to experience threatening occurrences and all 3 are afraid to tell anyone. This story is told from each friends view point but it flows together perfectly. This keeps you guessing till the very end and it was super suspenseful. A great read! I read it all in one sitting. Shalini does it again. A plus

4 stars

Just like the last time, my mind is full of static, now that I’ve finished this Shalini Boland novel.

Boland’s hit upon a fantastic formula that keeps you at the edge of your seat, second guessing everything every character speaks or thinks — unreliable narration, some “unknown” POV chapters, a prologue which absolutely piques your curiosity, and of course, the fast paced plot, full of twists and turns.

One Of Us Is Lying is Pretty Little Liars (the TV show) meets real world scenarios. I really can’t say much about the book for the fear of giving away spoilers, but damn, is it a gripping read! There’s blackmail, photos, arrests, secrets, and of course, texts from an unknown number.

It’s a page turner, and the fact that it’s 5:41 am and I still haven’t gone to sleep proves beyond doubt that a) this book is a quick and fun thriller, and b) I’ve had too much coffee.

While The Other Daughter was 4.5 stars for me, this was a solid 4 star read. I’m pretty much hooked to Shalini Boland’s plotting skills for life!

I recommend this to anyone who’s looking for a quick thriller for their 3 hour flight.

I can’t wait to see what Boland comes up with next. Thanks to Bookoutre and NetGalley for giving me a chance to read this thrilling ARC!

This was a nice easy read, would have been good to get to know the characters a bit more in depth and it was a bit predictable but it didnt ruin the story. I would recommend as I did still enjoy it, however not the most gripping book.

I received an advanced reader copy of this book to read in exchange for an honest review via netgalley and the publishers.

This is another fantastic and fast paced, page Turner by Shalini Boland that yet again I couldn't put down.
This stand alone is about three friends who all have a very recent dilemma in their lives that tests them to the limit along with their friendships between each other.
I didn't connect the dots until I was near the end of the book!

This story was enjoyable and the characters were relatable I am giving this one three stars, mainly because there was really no suspense. The stakes that were raised never really became an issue and I figured out the who, though not the why long before the book was finished. Then why was a letdown as well. It's a good quick book if you're looking to immerse your self in something for a few hours. Thank you to the author and NetGallery for this ARC.

One of Us is Lying by Shalini Boland is the latest from a favorite author. Shalini crafts good suspense novels that keep you hooked from beginning to end and she expertly throws in twists that you don’t expect. You know you’re in good hands when you pick up a book that she wrote.

This book alternates between three friends: Tia, Fiona, Kelly. They are old friends who share a secret, something happened to one of them long ago. What was once buried may now be brought to light but who is telling? Who can be trusted?

As with her other books, Shalini does an impressive job creating a web of characters who cannot be trusted by the reader. I never get bored or restless reading her books and already look forward to whatever she writes next.

Here’s the official synopsis:

Tia is walking home with her children, along the lakeside of their quiet, safe town, when she realises something is wrong with her five-year-old daughter, Rosie. She seems troubled, not at all her usual happy self. But when Tia finally coaxes Rosie to open up, she wishes she hadn’t. Because her sweet daughter asks a question Tia never thought she’d hear.

‘Mummy, why did you kill someone?’

Tia knows how rumours spread around her small town. She just can’t understand who would have shared such a horrible story. Or why.

It can’t have anything to do with what happened. Only her two best friends really remember that…

Tia thought she could trust Fiona and Kelly with her life. They’ve been through so much together. But when she’s sent photos of herself that could tear her whole world apart, she starts to wonder. Someone is determined to punish her. But who? And will her friends stand by her, or will the past destroy all of their lives?

In heat of the moment, you think you can trust someone… but time and circumstances change and secrets that were once firmly buried will always rise to the surface, at least in suspense novels!

Coming out on April 3, you can pre-order now for $3.99!

Tia Fiona and Kelly have been best friends forever. Their lives are all different now. Fiona owns a decorating business. Tia is married with two children. Kelly is widowed with two sons.
They have managed to stay close.
Then events start happening to disrupt their lives. Rumors are being spread throughout the school. Businesses are bein tax audited. Scandalous pictures are being taken. The friendships are in turmoil. Who can trust who?
A psychological thriller that is riveting in it's suspense.
You start distrusting the characters. Than next your cheering them on.
I definitely was invested in the book all the way through. Definitely worth reading!

Another quick read by Shalini Boland! This one has all the makings of a tv mini series. It’s the story of 3 friends going through a difficult time suddenly. The book is fast paced and easy to read. The plot is a little
predictable but you still want to know how life turns out for Tia, Kelly and Fiona. The chapters are divided between these 3 characters making it easy to follow along. There are some questionable moments specially with Kelly but if you don’t treat this book as thriller/ suspense mystery you can let it pass. My only complaint is that the title didn’t make much sense to the plot. Overall enjoyable read.

Once again Shalini Boland does not disappoint her readers and fans. I’ve read many of her books and this was one of her best books yet. She is such a talented writer and keeps you in suspense the whole entire book.

This book was about three women who are best friends but each one of them had a secret that they been keeping from one another. Someone is about to expose all their secrets and they don’t know what to do or who to confide in. Can they trust each other enough to find out who’s doing this to them? How are their teenage years connected to their present predicament? You find out these answers and more.

I just want to start off by saying that Shalini Boland is one of my favorite authors and everything she writes turn to gold. I absolutely loved this book for so many reasons. The characters are so well written and kept the flow of the book going. I think we all can relate the characters in this book and what they were going through. Don’t we all have secrets that we want to keep hidden and would be horrified if they got out. Also, that ending, wow!!!!! These three women finally decided that these secrets were holding them back and finally worked together as best friends should to try and stay alive. I loved that ending very much. This book was fast paced and I was very sad when it was over. I couldn’t get the book out of my head. I wanted more. Thanks Shalini Boland for writing another great book and I hope there are many more to come

Between the plot, characters and all the twists in this book it made it an easy and fast read. I would definitely recommend it and happily give it 5 Hearts❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

You should leave the past behind, but it's easier said than done. Some people struggle to do so and let the past rule the present and the future. Some want to forget. Some want to keep the flame burning and settle the score, even if it takes years.

When you are a child you often see things that happen to adults differently and you don't always get what is going on. What you do understand and suffer from are the consequences that reflect on your own life and those around you.

The author really knows how to keep her readers hostage with her incredible fluent style and fascinating story. Every book I have read by her is one to cherish. 5 stars.

Thank you, Shalini Boland and Bookouture

I love Shalini Boland books and look forward to reading any new ones that come out. So when I got this new one from #Netgalley I was thrilled to read it. Boland puts the mystery in mysteries and of course this one did not disappoint.

It's about a friendship of three women, Tia, Kelly and Fiona - friends when they were young and friends now that they are grown and married. But all is not rosy with them and at first you are not sure how what happens is related.

But when Tia's daughter comes home and asks her "why she killed someone?" all comes tumbling down. Even her friends are under suspicion for passing this rumor. And so the plot thickens and it isn't until the end when you find out how this story all comes together. Thrilling and a page turner. #fourstars Release date is April 3, 2020.

Oooh the master player was back, and the way she spun the game had me chuckling in delight. A slow burn suspense that just pulled me in from the first word, and I think I breathed well only after I finished the book.

3 women, best friends Kelly, Fiona, and Tia were being harassed by an unknown caller, either with incriminating photographs or incidents or tax evasion, until the truth came gushing out with a clean sweep.

Having read many of the book by author Shalini Boland, I knew I was in for a twisted read. And this book was so different. There was a camaraderie initially where I got sucked into the lives of these women. The suspense was slowly built up as the strange incidents notched up in pace. There was something mesmerizing about it.

The author threw me the pieces of the jigsaw puzzle that were these chapters, challenging me to solve it. Crazy that I was, I went about looking at each between midnight to 3 am, until at exactly 75%, the light bulb switched on and I realized what was happening in the book. From then on, it was a ride that I was eagerly waiting for, crossing my fingers, hoping to be proved right.

Was I right? Nooooo, not completely. The author could still sideswipe me with a few strokes of her pen.

Three friends have been through so much together. Something happened to one of the friends and she hoped that she could trust her friends. But something’s happening to each of them now in the present leading them to believe someone knows what happened in the past and is trying to punish each of them.

Overall:
The story revolves around the lives of three characters. Each character has there own point of view. With each point of view the reader gets an in-depth look into the personal lives of each friend.
Shalini gives the reader much to speculate with her steady flow of information. It’s known from the beginning these three friends have known each since they were kids.
Shalini kept the trail cold by focusing on other suspects. The situation from the past wasn’t easy to decipher as was the plan.
The story flows at a slow pace with the extremely detailed portions of the friends personal lives and business lives.
The supporting cast of characters is ever growing. At no point in the story does the reader know the direction of the story.
I’m not particularly hungry for the words like I hoped. I need to strengthen my resolve.

I had some difficultly transitioning between characters. I had to stop and think who I was reading. It kinda disrupted the flow of the story switching between three points of view.

I struggled with the delivery of this book. It wasn’t until the tail end of the book when all the loose ends where tied up did it all make sense. I almost forgot multiple times what I should be focusing on. I felt duped by this impending lie. There were too many characters driving the story and I got confused on more than one occasion trying to separate each main character. Switching between each characters point of view was not easy.
I really loved the last three chapters. I wish the pace of the book had been the same as the last three chapters.
Shalini did an excellent job casting blame on multiple characters. At the same time all the supporting characters kept delaying the big reveal and for that I got bored easily.
This one wasn’t my favorite thriller books, out of all the ones I’ve read before, but it was still an okay read.

Shalini Boland is one of my all time favourite authors and I’ve loved all of her previous books. I enjoyed this new one, however probably not quite as much as the previous books that I’ve read.
The plot was intriguing and well written and it kept me guessing throughout. Overall, it’s a very strong 4 stars.

I am a huge Shalini Boland fan and have read everything she has written. This one, though, didn't really hit the mark for me. It centers around Kelly, Tia, and Fiona, who are in their 30s and have been friends since they were kids. Weird things start happening to all 3 of them, causing suspicion in those around them and a risk that their lives will be hugely disrupted. The chapters alternate between the women along with flashbacks from an unknown narrator.

While this was an interesting mystery, and there were surprises at the end, I couldn't get into these characters the way I normally do when reading a Boland book. I don't know if there were just too many characters and the book wasn't long enough to delve deeply into each of them, but I didn't feel like I understood their motivations for the things they end up doing (or choosing not to do). In particular, I couldn't figure out where Tia's distrust of Fiona came from, when the book repeatedly states these women have been best friends for their whole lives. I also didn't understand why Kelly would blow Tia off when she clearly needed something if they were such good friends. I think if I had gotten a deeper view into each woman's mindset, I would have enjoyed the story more.

Overall, it was a quick read with a good twist and worth reading for fans of Boland and the domestic thriller/mystery genre. Even though this one was not my favorite, I will still be looking forward to the next book by this author.

Thanks to Netgalley for providing me a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Three friends each have their own secret that they are trying to keep hidden from each other and their families. The novel starts with the reader learning that someone has committed suicide and throughout the novel small hints are given. I devoured this book quickly and was shocked with the twist at the end.

Shalini Boland does an excellent job of building the characters up and providing just enough details for you to root for them and their families. The plot was engaging and propelled forward constantly.

She's don it again. A truly wonderful book, full of suspense, mystery and jarring excitement. Surprising ending and great writing, Can't wait until she writes another one.

It was just okay.
It was a slow burn for me.
And I’m expecting something more thrilling.
The writing is good though, it’s just lacking something I usually look for in a Thriller/Mystery genre.
If you’re looking for a quick read, you can try this one.
