The story introduces you to three friends and tells their stories from their own points of view. They have been friends since school and as the story starts there is the discovery of a suicide.
Kelly, Tia and Fiona have remained friends since childhood and are tied together by friends and events of the past.
In the outside the trio seem to have fabulous lives, lovely family and wealth in differing degrees. Underneath the surface there have been some secrets kept and the friendship has begun to dissolve with the introduction of secrets kept and suspicious raised.
All three find themselves the victim of an unknown person, seeking to do them harm yet they do not tell the others or ask families for help.
I have this 4 stars as although it was a great story with lots of twists there was one part of the plot where Kelly allows a complete stranger who knocks at her door move in with her and her two young sons, as the stranger asks for help. I found this a little unbelievable, although the ultimate ending was excellent and depended on this generosity of spirit.
Would recommend and thank Netgalley for the opportunity to read this in exchange for an honest review.

I have read all of this authors other books and they have all been fantastic. This one certainly didn't disappoint. The whole story line kept me gripped from start to finish.

This was the first Shalini Boland I've read.
It had me gripped from the beginning, I loved the way the story was told & developed with the three main characters.
Brilliant book, as I didn't see the twist coming. This has left me wanting to read more from this author.
A definite 5 stars

This is the second Shalini Boland book I have read, and I am so glad the first of hers I read wasn’t just a fluke good read. I enjoyed this second one just as much. I’m never sure if I will, or if it was just a one-off chance finding. However, this was just as gripping and a fantastic psychological thriller.
It did take a little while to get into and to get to grips with all of the characters. They weren’t easy to warm to as it seemed like they had so many secrets, you weren’t sure who to trust. This somehow made them unlikeable as characters.
None of the characters at first seemed relevant to each other, and you were left wondering what the pertinence or significance of each character was to the story. It felt as if you were reading five different books and not one big story. It is actually only now that I am writing this that I remember the prologue. I’d completely forgotten it and what had happened. I’m like ‘oh that must have been so and so, and now everything makes sense’. So much happened with all of the characters that it was easy to forget things and not bring everything together.
I had started to piece together the story as it developed, so there wasn’t any major surprise or shock.
It was an excellent psych thriller, though; it kept you turning the page wanting to know where it was going and why everything was happening. The events that were occurring were so well thought out, and the story was well developed; it was perhaps just a little too over-complicated and sometimes the heinous events were a little too subtle.
Overall, a good read that will keep you captivated until the end.

Having read all of Shalini Boland’s previous books I was excited to read her latest offering One of Us is Lying..
It tells the story of three friends Tia, Kelly and Fiona each with their own story to tell but also intrinsically linked. From the start of Tia’s story when her five year old daughter asks her “mummy, why did you kill someone” I was hooked.
The description of the town, homes and characters draws you in and makes you care for each of women equally.
How will their secrets be resolved, who is threatening to ruin their lives and why don’t they trust each other enough to confide what is happening to them, all builds to an explosive ending.
I read this book in a couple of sittings as I just couldn’t put it down. Shalini Boland is one of those authors I always look out for as you know you’ll get a five star read.

One Of Us Is Lying By Shalini Boland

This book was a great quick and easy read. I really enjoyed the storyline and liked the characters.
The characters were well developed and easy to keep track of, and the storyline built nicely, with a good level of suspense all the way through.
This is my second book from this author, although I have a few more of her books on kindle. A solid 4 stars from me.

This was such a fast book to read, but it felt a little bland. I liked that the chapters moved between the three friends, but I never felt a connection to any of them. I thought it was a good read & would be a perfect holiday read.

This is another terrific book by Shalini Boland. It is about three close friends and their families and everyday lives, with twists of course. The women are very likable and relatable, as are all of Boland’s characters in her books. Recommended for a compelling read! Read all of her books!

Love Shalini Boland books, they are always so easy to get into, twisty and full of mystery.

One of us is lying was no different. Tia, Fi and Kelly were friends from school, now grown up with their own families, jobs and their friendship still just about intact things take a strange turn as weird things start happening, rumours spreading across the village, sinister text messages and other random events, someone wants to make life difficult for the girls.

Really enjoyed this book, raced through it.

Thanks to net galley for the opportunity to review this book this is my honest opinion

This book really sucked me in and once I started, I couldn't stop. In fact, I finished it in one day.
This story is told from the perspective of three friends: Tia, Fiona and Kelly.
All three have distinct personalities and all three are experiencing troubles.
Tia is a devoted wife and mother with a wonderful life, until her daughter asked, 'Mummy, why did you kill someone?' Afterwards, she begins to be publicly shunned and receives incriminating photos.
Fiona is a successful business owner with an equally successful husband. Her life is seemingly perfect until two tax auditors show up at her business.
Kelly is a widow trying to raise three boys while doing charity work. One day, she lets a young abused woman into her home to stay. Will this be a mistake?
Why are all these bad things happening to these three friends and how are they connected?

The characters and the story were well written. Was it predictable? Yes, but that didn't deter my enjoy of this book. It was fast paced, and I enjoyed how it all played out in the end.

I have received the arc copy of this book from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

Usually going into some of my latest thriller reads I feel that a lot of snippets of truth are already given at the beginning of the book so your mind starts racing momentarily and you just have to read it until you have all the info.

And I think that is the greatest strength about this book - you don't have all the info about the horrendous stuff but the beautifully crafted sentences pull you and because you don't even know almost any facts you are still very drawn to the story.

The length of the chapters, the very nice narrative jumping from one character to the other and the fine composition of the sentences really makes you devour this book and have it finished.

I finished it in a day. :)

Tlhe writer uses exquisite writing to hook you to the seemingly ordinary life of 3 main characters whilst you are wondering is that one the bad guy/girl? Did that character hurt the other one?
What has happened before that is so Sinister but didn't even effect the 3 woman that much?

And as the story continues you get a glimpse of how and why and you think you got it but then the delivery leaves you astonished that you think you are far less intelligent because obviously the answer was right there and you didn't see it.

Overall the ability to keep the truth out in the open whilst reader try to think of some complicated finalisation is the greatest aspect of this novel.

A psychological thriller. Surprising twists and turns of three women, Kelly, Fiona, and Tia. Best friends since school and all still live in same small town. Each is being targeted with threats by someone who seems to know all their deep, dark secrets. Ashamed of the secrets they have been hiding, they don't even confide with one another.
Will it be too late?
Shalini Boland is a fantastic author! She captivates you from the beginning and yes, it was another late, late night! But so worth it!!

Thank you to Bookouture and NetGalley for the eARC

WOW! An addictive story from an author I hadn’t read before, and it takes off like a rocket! I didn’t just read this mesmerizing book, I inhabited it. The Woman Who Lied is one of those rare stories that grips you until the early hours. It’s a well-crafted mystery about three friends living immaculate lives and dealing with the inevitable emotional and psychological trauma that occurs with a few threatening texts. Tia, Fiona and Kelly form the narrative in this cracker of a story in alternating points of view, each with their own tale to tell.

Tia is horrified when her daughter alludes to a terrible rumor. A few boys at school say she killed someone, an allegation Tia hotly denies. Not to mention a few photos that could easily destroy her marriage. Kelly, recently widowed and with a recklessly bleeding heart, allows a stranger to stay with her — a stranger who is escaping a violent husband. Fiona, impossible to read and somewhat mysterious, is an interior designer who is being audited by the HMRC. An ambitious woman who wants to enjoy her career without the burden of kids, at least for now.

The book hurtles onwards and can only be described as a heart-pounding, page-turning, can’t-put-down, adrenaline-pumping novel. Each character is drowning in a mire of someone’s making and their carefully ordered lives are turning into a tangle they never expected. The book examines the obliterating trauma that comes with keeping secrets and their aftermath.

Each chapter goes back in time to provide the reader with an inviting summary, shaping each woman a contour at a time. As silhouettes begin to transform, it becomes clear that envy sits center-stage, and someone is threatening them. In such a small community, there is nowhere to hide. Dialogue provides a discrete eye into who they are and what they’re about. But the burning question throughout the book is who is targeting them and why is the past returning to bite them? Their lives are irrevocably damaged and things become chaotic in a very small space of time. The pace ramps up when Kelly receives a text to meet someone at the boathouse in Ashridge Falls, Fiona receives a message that intimates Mr Taxman will disappear, and Tia sees a text that assures her the photos will be destroyed — but it’s not all plain-sailing and the ending will have you tied up in knots.

I was thrilled to receive an ARC of this novel. Many thanks to Bookouture, Shalini Boland and Negalley for the privilege of reading this book.

Another fast-paced thriller from this great author! Three women who are best friends are suddenly finding themselves in all kinds of trouble with no idea what is going on. Because they are ashamed of the secrets they are hiding, they don't even share with each other what is happening to realize that they are not alone in their misery and that someone is determined to make them suffer. Tia is sent photos that would destroy her marriage, Fiona is facing a tax audit in the business she owns and a stranger that Kelly takes in is more sinister than she could imagine. Why is this happening to these women and why now? And by the time they realize they are all in trouble, will it be too late?

This book is addictive, one of those that you don't want to put down once you get started. You quickly fall right into the story and you find there's never a good place to pause and take a break because you keep wanting to see what happens next! It's an easy to read, breezy thriller that sure, you may figure out long before the characters do, but who cares when you're having so much fun?

Thank you Net Galley and Bookouture for an early copy of Shalini Bolands new book. Of course it was another winner! Her books are just unbelievable, I always get so excited when I see a new one coming out. This one won’t let you down, it was a page turner. I did figure it out before the end but that didn’t stop me from frantically page turning until the end.

A psychological thriller on three friends and their lives and a common enemy out for revenge. The fast pace and the fluent narrative masks the predictable suspense. An easy airport read.

I have read many Shalini Bolands books and always been enthralled by the storylines, writing style and description. She really makes you feel emotions toward her characters and creates a gripping storyline.

This book was no exception. I loved the characters and felt empathy toward them, the injustice of people telling lies and the ramifications that has on them as a person.

A fantastic book with a great storyline. As always I can’t wait for the next book by the author

Shalini boland is one of then authors, that when you see a new book coming out you just know you have to read it. Because you know that it will be great and a quick read because you just wont be able to put it down.

She has this ability to create a world and people that suck you in and keep hold of you right until the very last page. One of this things I love about her as an author is the way she wraps everything up at the end of a book. It's like she does the usual paper but she also finishes it with a bow and glitter. And this book is no different to her others that I have read.

I felt this story lacked as many twists as some of her previous books, as I was able to guess who was doing it etc. And I haven't been able to do that with her other books. But eventhough I guessed it didnt stop the book from being fantastic and didnt stop my enjoyment of it.
