Great read. The author wrote a story that was interesting and moved at a pace that kept me engaged. The characters were easy to invest in.

I was a bit thrown off by the pacing, especially with so many serious topics at hand. I thought Jakubs journey was nicely written and he felt very realistic. Although I would have liked to have a bit more depth into his relationship with Jeff, especially since he had somewhat of an attitude initially.

What a beautiful book! I found Jere' M. Fishback's story-telling mesmerizing. There are a lot of difficult topics and situations wound into this novel, but they are handled skillfully and delicately to create a classic-feeling journey. This is a modern day story, except for a few current references though, it feels timeless.

I grew up in Florida and have camped at Fort DeSoto, so this book took me immediately back to that time and place. I'm glad Fishback kept the setting the same in present day. Everything about this story felt right.

Jakub's experiences through this novel are never overplayed. A lot of living for someone so young-- yet beautifully and realistically told through his eyes.

Definitely a novel I'll look forward to reading again in the future. I don't say that very often either.

I received a copy from the publisher through NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

This book was a very hard read especially for a lot of the triggers in the book. I would recommend going in knowing what the trigger warnings are before you actually read the book.

I enjoyed some of the overall romance between Jeff and Jakub. They really had an interesting story together but getting there really was somewhat of a chore because of the over amount of telling instead of showing throughout the book. There is a lot of this happened and then this happened and then this happened.

There are a ton of emotional scenes in this book that I truly felt and was invested in. The characters go through a lot in this book.

This book was a tough one for me. I really liked some of the story... Jakub was an interesting character. He hadn't really pondered his sexuality much at the beginning of the book and the author did a good job of writing the way he came to terms with his interests and emotions.

Jakub and Jeff's meeting and spending the summer together was a sweet reminder of long summer days and friendship. It reminded me of my own summers away from school and life's stresses. The first part of the book was definitely the most enjoyable.

Things in Jakub's life became a lot more complex once he was back at school. He had a roommate with psychological issues not the least of which was a past sexual relationship with a family member. This part of the plot culminates in a very sad and emotional event that was written quite well.

One of the key challenges I had with this book was the writing style. It was over detailed to the point that I found myself skipping over some of the descriptions. At almost 800 pages I felt as though there was a lot of description that could be removed that would tighten up the story and help the reader to focus on the intense emotion in the plot.

There are a lot of triggers in this novel and some of it is very emotional. I would really encourage people to read the trigger warnings that NineStar Press is so great at providing in their books.
