I love how RWBY translated to manga from the anime. This manga was really fast-paced and fun, I loved seeing the characters in book format.

As a person that fell in love with the RWBY animation I instantly loved this manga. Each of the scenes are well drawn, but there is still some room for the readers imagination. It is well done and while the diction is a little different from the animation it is still just as awesome and I am looking forward to reading more like this in the future. Ruby and her half sister Yang are enrolled at Beacon Academy, training to become huntresses, so they can fight Grimm and save people. There is also a magical substance called Dust that helps hunters and huntresses with their spell casting, in addition to having an innate magical skill. In this volume, the students are formed into teams during an initiation task, and thus Team RWBY is formed: Ruby, Weiss, Blake, and Yang.

The story is very interesting, taking cues from Wizard of Oz in the form of anthropomorphic animals, with some of the names like Ruby, Ozpin, and Glynda. I think the world is interesting and I really like the magical school archetype that became so popular with Harry Potter. However, the art style is very confusing, and not detailed at all when it comes to scenery. Most big pieces are outlines with a bit of shading, and the details on faces of people not in the foreground can be lost. I would continue reading this for the story, not the art.

VIZ's rating is teen, and that is appropriate. There is fantasy violence, but no blood.

Average manga based on the anime show of the same name. While the character design is ok, the action is not clear in most cases. Maybe for someone who watched it, this is ok, but for me it didn't work

I enjoyed this one it was fun and exciting and it seems to have a great plot, I can't wist to see where it goes. I did find it a little hard to distinguish between a couple of character but that could be because it was on my phone so it was really small 😔 I found the watermark distracting and it made it hard to read some panels

I did like to read about the budding friendships between the characters and I'm looking forward to seeing how they grow and develop as a team and individuals 😊

I have loved RWBY since day one and my husband started watching it. This manga did not disappoint. This manga follows the show very very well and while as a die hard fan, was able to come with some great conclusions to the changes made. Obviously some things would need to change between the book and the show, as usual, but this only further appreciated the cause. RWBY is a show that I wish more people would hop on board to see, but truthfully, maybe this manga would allow that audience to grow. Every character is (rather) likable, but they each have their own attributes to the team. While I know this doesn't come out until July, I want readers to love these characters as I do. RWBY has turned into a family show for my boys and I, we have décor, shirts, banners, etc all around the house. So take it from a fan that this is not a manga you want to miss out on. RWBY is becoming so popular that this is a great addition for you to read and be influenced by. Highly recommend.

There are other RWBY manga volumes out there, though most are short anthologies featuring stories focused on a main character for each volume, or shorts done by various artists. But where's the main story?

Here it is, volume one of the RWBY series as a manga! It's the same plot as the television series, done as drawings rather than animation. And this art is surely no disappointment. The art is goregous and has an appealing aesthetic different than watching the animation. When I first watched the show, it was hard to get past the animation style, but the art in this manga really takes this story away.

This volume is a nice introduction to the main characters, setting, and aspects of the world such as Grim and the importance of a Hunter's job in this world.

This one wasn't for me. Again the artwork was brilliant. I found the book a little disjointed..There was nothing missing from the book it just wasn't for me.

When I saw this I had to request this. I’ve been a fan of Rooster Teeth for so many years. Don’t get me wrong I haven’t seen the RWBY series for years but as a manga series I thought it would be perfect.

I’m going to have to rewatch the series because I can’t remember anything so I cannot confirm is this is the same as the series.

My review is purely the manga for that reason. I thought the dialogue was so childish in a funny way. I could not take it seriously and maybe that’s how it’s supposed to be but I couldn’t get into it for that reason. The sound effects were also making me laugh and I doubt that’s the intention but my god some were ridiculous.

Another two things regarding the childish thing but one character is called Glenda Goodwitch...really haha. And the academy just looks like Hogwarts.

Also I’m not sure if the format was the best for this but of course that’s not the fault of the manga at all. I may have to rewrite in a physical copy.

The characters all sounded the same so I kept forgetting who’s talking.

I know my rating is low but it was making me laugh so I’m not angry at all or disappointed I just think it’s not for me. I don’t think I’m laughing at it for the right reason.

It looked and sounded interesting, so I was excited to check it out, but the pacing was disjointed and the artwork was a bit confusing at times. Maybe if I had watched the anime I could view this book as a transcription of sorts, but it didn’t hold up well on its own for me.

While I've never watched the anime, I heard about RWBY a while ago and have always been intrigued by the title. The concept of people training to become Huntsmen or Huntresses to fight "Grimms" is pretty epic. It's like superheroes mixed with fairy tales! This first volume was an interesting introduction to the characters and world. I can tell the characters will have some interesting dynamics in future volumes. Ruby was adorable, and I'm glad she's the protagonist. My biggest trouble, though, was the art work. The style is beautiful, but at times, it was hard to tell what exactly was happening. I also had a hard time telling the girls apart since two have light hair and three have dark and it's black and white panels. This happens sometimes when I read manga, so I'm hoping in future volumes I'll start being able to tell everybody apart by their hair or clothing styles.

Overall, it was a fun read and I'm excited to read more.

This book was sooo cute! The art style was awesome, the story great. I love the RWBY anime and this did not disappoint for me. Overall, highly recommend especially if you love the anime like I do!

I finished this manga real fast and wasn't a huge fan. I didn't really enjoy the plot in general, it just wasn't my cup of tea. If you enjoy long action scenes and fairytale themed characters and references then definitely check this manga out! For me, I just thought it was difficult to connect to the characters and the battle scenes were really hard to follow. Half the time I couldn't understand who was 'talking' because the speech bubbles were everywhere and there was a lot happening at once. This is a really popular manga and anime series but it just wasn't for me.

This was a really fun manga, I did watch a bit of the anime when it originally came out and even then I was finding it a bit hard to follow along with what was happening, I feel like anyone going in blind might have a problem with knowing what is going on. From what I can remember the manga was accurate but my memory of the anime is a bit foggy so take that with a grain of salt.

The art style is gorgeous! I asked for this ARC because of the art style and it did not disappoint, the action poses looked so cool and so well done, I spent so much time reading this just staring at the pictures!

Without the stark colours of each of the characters from the show, it was a bit confusing to tell who was who but at the end, I think I've got an idea (about halfway through I realised that a character I thought was one person was actually 2)

I would definitely recommend this to fans of the original show as well as people who maybe had a problem with the animation style of the show (this was me) as this gives you the story without the clunky animation.

This was my first foray into the world of RWBY, and it's been fantastic.

After protecting a shop from thieves, young Ruby joins her older sister at Beacon Academy. Skipping ahead two levels, Ruby is uncertain of her place at the Academy and how she'll make friends with the other students. But there's nothing like monster fighting to turn the most diverse personalities into unlikely friends.

I like the simple, dramatic art style. I was a little confused in the first chapter, the panels didn't convey clear time breaks (for time skips, flash backs, what not), but it got easier to follow after that.

Today I sat down and read RWBY: The Official Manga, Vol. 1 and it was incredible. This is another series that I have watched (I think I’ve seen the first three seasons?), so I was super excited to experience the story in a new format. This one is a little different though, because RWBY was a TV show first, created by Rooster Teeth. That’s right, the show came out before the book!

This story centers around four main characters: Ruby Rose, Weiss Schnee, Blake Belladonna, and Yang Xiao Long (hence the acronym RWBY; it’s all of their first initials). The four girls are studying at Beacon Academy to become Huntresses, and fight off Grim that try to destroy human civilization. What are Grimm? They’re a kind of supernatural monster that live in Remnant (the name of this story’s world) and feed off of sadness and despair. They’re responsible for destroying many towns and cities, and killing humans.

All four girls enroll at Beacon because they want to use their abilities to fight Grimm and protect humans. Throughout the first volume, we learn about their individual abilities, how they work, and some of the specialized weapons that they use. All of this is built upon and expanded throughout the show, so I can only assume the manga will eventually go into more detail as well.

Of course, there’s more than just Grimm that Huntresses and Hunters fight. Organized crime is very much alive in Remnant, and we see some of it teased in the first volume as well. Suffice to say, Ruby and her team have a lot of things to deal with, and their first-year school training is only the beginning.

One of the things I loved most about RWBY: The Official Manga, Vol. 1 was the art. I wasn’t sure what to expect, but assumed it would be different from the art style used in the show (which was created by an American company). The art in the manga is stunning, and when I looked up some full color pages I nearly cried. It’s one of the most beautifully drawn series I’ve seen in a while. Even the Grimm look good.

If you’re looking for a new manga to check out, and want strong female characters, or a bit of a supernatural twist, then check out RWBY.

I've never seen the anime, so this is my first glimpse into this world. I loved it! The characters are really fun and I'm already hooked on how these relationships will develop with all the opposites being paired in fighting team.s

Basically so far I've grasped that there are bad monsters, "grimms, nevermores, etc." and also bad people who want to steal "dust". This dust is a special thing that can be converted into different forms that allows for magic but not everyone needs that for magic. The main characters, Ruby, Yang, Belladonna, Juane, Pyrrah, etc. all seem to have their own abilities. Ruby Rose is the main protagonist. She's very upbeat and smart. The story starts with her stopped a robbery in progress whose mastermind just happens to be a very bad criminal. So impressed with her abilities to hold this man off, she's able to skip grades in her current school and move onto a special school for becoming a huntress. She's a little hesitant and shy so making friends is hard but her older sister Yang is there and I think that helped her want to go. It's a school of witches to me, but yeah. The manga chapters then continue with her meeting people, doing an entrance exam and being paired with people and a team is formed! RWBY! I don't want to spoil who is with who but you should definitely give this a shot. I'm hooked and look forward to the next volume and starting the anime!

Before reading this I had heard of and seen a little of the anime on Crunchyroll but I didn't really know what it was about.

I really enjoyed the plot of the series and I'm extremely excited for the next one. The art was beautiful and the action scenes were drawn wonderfully. The characters were all unique and interesting as well; in a way, I don't often see in the manga. The main girl Ruby was strong and intelligent though she definitely has a hero complex. I really enjoyed all the other main characters and how their relationships were growing towards the end of the manga. I look forward to seeing those friendships bloom more in the next Volume.

This is the story of four girls: Ruby, Weiss, Blake, and Yang Xiao. I've never seen the show but I've been wanting to see it, and requesting the arc seemed like a good place to start. A light introductory plot, this volume introduces the team members of RWBY and how the team meets, interacts, and learn how to work together. It held my attention and I really enjoyed it all throughout. Recommended for anyone who enjoys RWBY and those who enjoy adventuresome manga genres.

I've been wanting to check out RWBY for a while so getting a chance to read the manga adaptation. The art is very pretty and the story is really interesting. You're drawn straight into the series and the action and at the end of the volume, I want to read more. I'll have to buy the rest for sure when I can.
