This book felt original and was very thought provoking.
I felt the pacing was a little off. It was filled with many twists and turns.
A well written book

Twisty, thought-provoking read that kept me on the edge of my seat. The ending was well done, which is something that really matters to me when I’m reading a book. Characters were developed well and did not lack depth as is the case in some thrillers. Interesting premise that grips the reader right away.

So gripping! A little weird at times with the moth references but that builds nicely. Kept me guessing all the way through and some good twists.

I think this is what happens to a lot of women when they get older - not the killing part, the feeling invisible, and nobody notices you anymore... This sets the premise of a thrilling read, and you don't expect the ending! Highly recommended.

It was a bit hard to read at times but one thing the book shows is how fragile the human mind is and a lot of woman will resonate with the main characters. Its very emotionally charged for a thriller.. different but good.

Rachel is a typical middle aged married mother of two - except she is currently being held somewhere - a psych ward? Prison? - being questioned about multiple murders. She has apparently confessed. She doesn't understand how she has ended up here. When she was younger, she was the type of girl that made heads turn. Now, is she the type of women that kills? She hasn't recognized her life in a long time and has felt invisible to her kids, especially her daughter, and her husband, sure, but is she so starved for attention she would kill to get it?
I really loved this book, and I especially enjoyed seeing all the different perspectives. The main angle we see is Rachel’s point of view, retelling the story to her forensic psychiatrist. The other perspectives are segments of police interviews with her husband Mark, her daughter Katie, her best friend Lisa, and her new neighbor, Ingrid. Through them we are able to piece together what we feel may have happened and get to unravel Rachel's mental state. Also, as a middle aged mother myself, I could really relate to her. I believe a lot of women this age, and maybe young and old, and even men, could relate as well. Some of the themes are important ones are important conversations to have with loved ones! Overall, great book with lots of twists and turns that kept me turning the pages until the end!
Thanks to S.E. Lynes, Bookouture, and NetGalley for the ARC. 4.5 stars.

This was a terrific story, the characters were all great, I could see them as I was reading this book.
Rachel feels that she is not seen by her family. They take her for granted, never ask her how she is she may as well not be there.
Rachel suffers from depression, and she thinks she has done some terrible things, and killed people.
Has she?
This is a book you must read, put it on the top of your reading list.

Unfortunately this was just an average read for me. While it was entertaining enough, I just don’t think it brought anything new or special to the table. I enjoyed it while I was reading it, but do not think I’ll remember it in the future.

I would especially like to thank Bookouture Editions and the Netgalley website for allowing me to read this book.

It features Rachel, who is very afraid that she did something wrong. She is asked if she murdered someone. She doesn't understand why her life has changed so much. When she was younger, everyone looked at her. Her children needed her, her husband loved her.

But the years passed, she was busy with her children, her parents, while now she can be in a place without anyone knowing she is there.

For this reason she is always saying that she could do well to be looked at again.

A book read in one go, so much so that I hung on to the story, which is so gripping, addictive, captivating, full of suspense and twists and turns with very endearing characters.

My first book by this author. I thought it was a little slow to get started, but I wasn't willing to give up on it and so glad I didn't It gets better as it goes along with some breath taking twists along the way.

The book is mainly told through Rachel's interview and it's clear from the start, she has been accused of something pretty bad. Other interviews with family and friends are slotted in, but they just stop short of revealing exactly what is alleged to have happened. I found myself reading faster and faster to find out what had happened, had Rachel killed someone? Why? Who.

An author to add to my list.

This book really took me by surprise! It has such unexpected twists, that sometimes I would need to put the book down to try and process what just happened before moving on! This was my first book by this author and I'm so excited to read more!

4.5 stars.

Another great read by an amazing author I have read so many times and will never stop!

I loved the idea, it was different in a good way. The storyline flows, even though a little bit slow at first, then it gets better and better and it made me question my own sanity.

Captivating, tense, entertaining, fascinating, gripping.

Thank you to NetGalley and Bookouture for the ARC of this book. This is my honest review. All opinions are my own.

What if you felt so invisible that you turned to doing something completely unexpected just to be seen? Perhaps murder, even? That's what Rachel does after realizing that she's become a shell of her past self.

This book is extremely slow. I almost gave up at first, but I'm really glad I didn't. I don't want to give too much away, so I'll let you read the summary on the book yourself. If you like a slow burning mystery that includes police reports, this is for you!

Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for letting me provide my honest feedback in exchange for an ARC.

★★★★★ 4.5 stars (rounded up)

"There are things I don't know. But I know people are dead, I know I killed them and I know it all started the day I realised I was invisible."

Rachel Edwards is invisible. Well, she thinks she is. When she was younger, heads would turn when she walked into a room. Her husband Mark had always said she was out of his league. And she had great relationships with her two beautiful children, Keiron and Katie.

So when did Rachel become "invisible"?

With Keiron away at uni and Katie taking a gap year, Rachel's life consists of working at the pub and the caretaker of her family at home. When daughter Katie has her 18th birthday party of "just 10 friends" which then turned into at least twenty, Rachel walks into the room and realises everyone is totally oblivious to her presence. She's past her prime, heads no longer turn, she's no one.

She's become invisible.

Her husband of 27 years doesn't even look at her anymore, barely even speaks to her. Katie spends most of her time in her room, deaf to her mother's voice...unless food is involved. But neither of them can be arsed to set the table, warm the plates, hang the washing or even flip the switch to turn on the heating while she's out getting fish and chips for tea. No, those tasks are left completely up to her as she is simply the wife and mother, the caretaker for her now unappreciative family.

Becoming obsessed with the spate of knife attacks happening near her home, Rachel begins a scrapbook or sort with clippings of all the victims and their stories. In the hope that she can approach their MP to get the police to do more about these crimes in the area. And yet...she's invisible. Maybe she should take matters into her own hands? After all, she's invisible...

And if she was invisible, if no one else can see her, she could get away with murder. Couldn't she?

Then Rachel starts taking walks at night with their dog Archie and meets people she feels she identifies with and can understand them. She feels their pain and makes connections with them. At last she is not invisible. Not to these people at least. But then these people are found dead or badly injured within a few minutes of meeting her...and Rachel wonders, did she do this?

Now Rachel is in a locked room with forensic psychiatrist Amanda "blue eyes" Frost, detailing all that her life has become and the crimes she has no memory of committing...and yet she must have. Police question her husband Mark, daughter Katie, best friend Lisa and new neighbour Ingrid as they try to determine what is really going on.

It was evident that Rachel was struggling. But was it her sanity? Was she unstable? Or was it just menopause? The internal anger and rage she would feel as her family paid her no attention and basically just took her for granted. And then to make matters worse she began to suspect Mark of having an affair with...Ingrid? Lisa? Or both? How could Mark do this to her? How could Lisa? After all, she knows she is no longer the beauty she once was but to ditch her for the floaty blonde piece next door or her best friend...how could they? Or was Rachel just delusional and imagining things?

Of course there is so much more, much much more to this story that I have barely touched the surface. CAN YOU SEE HER? is an original and thought provoking slow burning psychological thriller about feelings of self worth, jealousy, revenge and menopause. With a touch of humour peppered throughout Rachel' narrative. I laughed when her husband Mark referred to her mood being down to her "hormonal whatsits".

CAN YOU SEE HER? is primarily narrated by Rachel in her sessions with the forensic psychiatrist - both in dialogue and the thoughts she doesn't openly share. There are alternating chapters throughout in the form of police interview excerpts with Mark, Katie, Lisa and Ingrid as slowly a picture begins to build of what may or may not have happened.

But nothing will prepare you for the shocking triple twist ending that is quite outstanding that not even I saw coming...on any count! It was sheer brilliance on Susie Lynes' part that makes this truly emotive tale such an intriguing read that, despite the slow burn, I could not put down.

My third book by Lynes, CAN YOU SEE HER? is thought provoking, emotive and even heartbreaking as each twist is revealed. Sheer brilliance.

I would like to thank #SELynes, #NetGalley and #Bookouture for an ARC of #CanYouSeeHer in exchange for an honest review.

S.E. Lynes has become my absolute ‘go to’ author, her books are beautifully written, there is depth, empathy and an underlying humour in her writing, the plot is always intriguing, compelling and multi layered but it is her unmatched skill at drawing the characters that winds me in every single time, she makes them live on the page and I’m drawn into their thoughts and actually feel their emotions. I have loved every single thing she has written but this is one is REALLY special, so much so that it has has joined her earlier book ‘’MOTHER’’ in my all time favourite books (and I read a lot!!)

When reading this I thought my heart may actually break for Rachel, her feeling of invisibility and uselessness, her attempts to reach out to her absent son, her anxiety about knife crime and compassion for people she meets combine with her depression and looming menopause to leave her in bad place - a very very bad place!

As a woman of a certain age who has gone through lots of self doubt, gone through the anxiety of her child living away at Uni and one who worries too much about a lot of things, this book resonated so deeply with me. In addition to the personal triggers this is a wonderfully crafted twisty and unique psychological thriller. It’s taken me months to get to the point of reviewing this book and I still can’t articulate just how good it is or how deeply it got under my skin.

There aren’t enough stars out there to do this justice -it’s honestly the best book I’ve read in years.
