** spoiler alert ** Sounds like superheroes and whilst there are superheroes mentioned, it’s two metas trying to survive a cult and save a kidnapped woman. Nate, the rich guy trying his to save his stepmother and Errol, desperate for a job.

Starts off relatively simple with Nate in the need for a meat shield and quickly snowballs as the plot thickens. I felt sorry for Errol getting pushed past his paces.

The cultists are armed psychos that don’t care when or where they try and kidnap/kill someone. The whole Luke obsession thing was weird. Plenty of violence, a little sex and whole load of Errol needing new clothes. I liked it.

Very quick read and highly entertaining. It was interesting enough to keep me at the edge of my seat and the characters interactions put a smile on my face.

This is the story of a disgraced superhero who is given a last chance to redeem his reputation. When CEO Nathan hires Errol, the alcoholic deadbeat bodyguard doesn’t have much going for him. But desperation and a minor superpower make Errol a committed, if unlikely protector for the beleaguered CEO.

This is an action adventure that reads like a low budget Marvel film. Everything happens in this book with very little description or reflection. Readers lurch from one dramatic shootout to the next without pause or any sign of a deliberate narrative arc. I’m an infrequent science fiction reader but I usually appreciate the way the genre can frame and reframe the human condition, ask the bigger questions and provide anti-heroes that don’t necessarily work in contemporary fiction. This book does none of these things. It’s a book for people who like simplistic action movies.

There is a sexual connection between Nathan and Errol that leads to sexual encounters. I’m not sure I’d go so far as to suggest there is some romance in the story, but there is a bit of sex. While adventure fans might find it a sexy story, romance fans will be disappointed.

I read this book pre-publication so I’m hoping that some of the errors have been corrected prior to publication. However, the teacher in me was itching to take apart the story with a red pen. The writing is choppy and jarring and characters leap from adventure to adventure with very little character or relationship development. For a science fiction novel, the world building is minimal and incredibly confusing. By the midpoint, minor inconsistencies began to grate. Nate and Nathan are used interchangeably for no apparent reason. Some references in the book suggest a futuristic setting. Like 200 years in the future. Other references suggest the story takes place in a contemporary American city. I’m still not quite clear on the intended setting for the book. I honestly couldn’t quite make the various strands of this story work for me, so I gave up trying to think and just let the book take me to the end.

Jeopardy in Tights drops you right into the middle of the action - literally, as the novel opens post-combat. The overall concept is solid, but the execution fell a little flat for me. The characters felt very similar in their actions and word choice, and the story seemed to lurch between action and romance. Overall, the novel was ok, but it wasn’t something I’d pick up again.

This was an interesting concept but I just didn't feel like I really got a chance to connect to either of the characters. They were pretty two dimensional and everything seemed to happen so fast that it seemed like everything was over almost before it started. The steamy bit at the end was very good though. Probably won't continue with this series but we'll see how I feel when the next one comes out. Maybe if it was a bit longer that would help.

I felt like the world building would have came across better if the story were a bit longer. But this was definitely a unique superhero story.

A steamy romance develops between a businessman and his mutant bodyguard against a backdrop of extremist terrorist attacks. It's exactly as great as it sounds! With vivid writing and sympathetic characters, this book is a perfect beginning to a new series and I can't personally wait for the other books!

Thank you to Netgalley for an ARC in exchange for an honest opinion.
