This is a graphic novel about an oft forgotten part of music history. It is an incredible story about passion, identity, and perseverance against the odds. The art is beautiful. Highly recommend.

This story is so amazing. I loved the storytelling and illustrations. Just incredible. And I loved getting to read a Native American graphic novel-it's so rare to come by and I really enjoyed it.

Redbone is the story of the rock band responsible for the song "Come and Get Your Love" from the Guardians of the Galaxy movie. I had never heard of Redbone before this book, but the story of Pat and Lolly Vegas was fascinating. These two brothers influenced major recording artists like Jim Morrison and Jimi Hendrix. The all Native American band they formed was initially successful, until they refused to compromise their beliefs when the Native American movement surged in the late 1960s.

I am not a huge fan of graphic novels, but the story of a Native American rock band intrigued me. The story is told from the point of view of Pat Vegas as he recounts the story of his band to his daughter, Frankie. At first, I didn't catch the flashback/flashforward and was confused. Once I figured that out, I was good to go and understood the storyline completely, and I finished the book in one sitting. This graphic novel definitely piqued my interest. Now I'm ready to find a deeper dive into the history of Redbone!

Redbone is a graphic novel intended for a young adult/adult audience about a Native American band's fight for their civil rights. The illustrations are vibrant and perfectly capture that 1960s vibe. The story itself is fascinating and worthy of being told. I'm glad this novel is being released into the world!

While like everyone else, I had heard of Redbone from the Guardians of the Galaxy soundtrack, but I had no idea of the activism and pride behind an all-Indian rock band. This story was incredible and led me to explore more about Redbone and Native American artists in popular music. The color palette made for stark images, and I like the way that the authors made sure to explain the history behind the activism and the larger context of why a Native American rock band was important. My only complaint is that the text wasn't always linear in a way that made the order obvious. Every time I had to stall to figure out the order, it would stall the flow of the book for me. But otherwise a great historical graphic novel.
