A delightful coming of age story that fully captures what it is to be 16. Beautifully written, with a cast of characters that leap off the page. A pure joy to read, I laughed until tears on multiple occasions. When I was reading the Rule Britannia incident, my husband demanded to read what was making me laugh so hard.
Highly recommended. Many thanks to the author, the publisher, and netgalley for an advance copy. I enjoyed it tremendously.

Thank you to netgalley for the advance copy of this book.

Evie Epworth is a 16-year-old girl who's just finished her O Levels in 1962 and is wondering what to do with her Future. She lives on a farm in Yorkshire with her father, Arthur. Her mother died when Evie was 1 and she knows very little about her.

This is a time of massive change on the farm for Evie and this is a great coming of age story. It's easy to read and the characters feel real. Some of them are likeable and others not so.

This is a great book if you want something that's easy and quick to read. I managed to read this in two days flat - I just wanted to know what happens to Evie.

A great debut and I look forward to reading more from Matson Taylor.

Meet Evie Epworth, she's 16 and a half and she's trying to decide what kind of woman she wants to be in this funny, fresh and enjoyable coming of age story.

Evie's narrative voice is so engaging and fun, I really loved her world view and her naive, charming, clever take on things. Her cast of supporting characters are also larger than life, from the evil would-be stepmother to the indomitable Mrs Swithenbank, I loved getting to know them all.

This was such a fun read, light-hearted and silly but also touching and gentle, with a backbone of steel. Just like Evie Epworth herself.

Thanks to NetGalley and the publishers for an advance ebook copy in return for my honest review.

As refreshing as a good bag of sherbet! Evie whips through her coming of age in the 60s, or rather her perception of what that should entail, with gusto.
Dealing with the scant memories of her mother and her Dad’s nasty new girlfriend becomes easier when her neighbour’s glamourous daughter comes to stay. Together, with the help of “magic” and a reel-to-reel tape machine, a looming catastrophe can probably be averted.
Although I don’t normally like “jolly hockeysticks” novels, I grew very fond of Evie and her Yorkshire posse. Very enjoyable read.

I really enjoyed this book. It's all about Evie and her life as a sixteen and a half year old. We get to meet her family and their farm where they live. Only one small problem her future step mother. There are quite a few funny things that happen in this story, and some parts where I could see Evie struggling but she holds her own and I really like how this story ended. Warm and witty, I would give it a big thumbs up.

What an absolute ray of sunshine #TheMiseducatioofEvieEpworth is. Living in rural Yorkshire in 1962, Evie is 16 and keen to find her way in the world. Her 'voice' is at the centre of the book. She is very funny and I wish I could meet her. Evie Epworth is an absolute delight and her cast of supporting characters were beautifully portrayed. I lost of count of how many 'laugh out loud' moments the book gave me. I was cheering Evie on and desperate for her to succeed.
I found the book heart-warming and comforting. I would definitely recommend it to my 40-something book club, my 17 year old daughter and my 80 year old Mum. If like me you love Nina Stibbe and Joanna Nadin, you will love this.
Thank you Matson Taylor, the publishers and #NetGalley for the opportunity to read and review this gem.

The Miseducation of Evie Epworth Review

Whilst Captin Tom Moore is showing true Yorkshire warmth and unity during the Coronavirus pandemic, Matson Taylor has been able to bottle some of that up in this tale from about a slightly younger girl but a character cut from the same cloth.

Evie Epworth is sixteen, is on the verge of womanhood. She soars into the novel at a lightning pace, racing forward into that with no time to waste, however its not long until the vechile she is driving crashes, and she is brought back down to earth. What follows is not your traditional coming of age novel. It’s a story of good vs evil, growing up and idiolisng the future but it does so in a hugely comedic and original way. There a vast array of quirky characters that pop up throughout the book and Evie, who at first seemed a littlee misguided grows throughout the book and it does become a clever, witty, novel of protecting our loved ones from the evils of the world. At times it can feel a bit of a panatomime but the humour never lets up and so its good to go along with the ride.

During lockdown, I have tried to think of all the books I can read that are long, complicated and painful. All the reasons why they have remained gathering dust on the shelves. This is a heartfelt, endearing novel that needs to find its way to the top of the shelves during this lockdown and you wont forget the name Evie Epworth once normality resumes.

A sincere thank you to the publisher, author and Netgalley for providing me an ebook copy of this book in exchange for a fair and honest review. This is not my usual genre, I’m more of a crime/thriller reader therefore am extremely pleased and grateful for opening up my mind to something totally different. 4 stars 🌟🌟🌟🌟
