I read this quite quickly - but will admit this isn't my favourite Nora Roberts book.

I really liked the concept of the story, but think that the kidnap was a little early on in the book, and didn't initially set up so much of the family back story.

I loved the idea of where Cate ran to, and the relationships that came out of it, most importantly., Dillon and his dogs,

It was very interesting to see the career path that Cate took when she started to feel threatened, as the one of a voice actor is one that is rarely discussed. The fact she is so down to earth when she moves home, as she gets closer to Dillon and his family is heart-warming.

This isn’t my favourite book by this author. I enjoyed the beginning and the end but the middle section was too slow.
I didn’t find it suspenseful at all. It was very predictable.
I did enjoy the characters

This book held my interest to a point but I thought it was quite predictable. That was charming in its own way, but I felt like i was always waiting for it to get better and it never really did. My first read by this author and probably my last,

I thoroughly enjoyed this book. I loved the characters and the forming of the relationships.
The Sullivan's were a family of Hollywood actors and when 9 year old Caitlyn was abducted, her bravery and ingenuity changes her life and the lives of everyone around her.
I didn't want to put it down and I didn't want it to end!

I am a huge Nora Roberts fan and have most of her books which may be why I guessed where one story plot was leading but the characters are so well written that I needed to read along to make sure they got to where I guessed they were going. This book is filled with a host of strong characters, some to love but also those to hate with equal measure. The turns and twists we go through following the lives of Caitlyn and those who care about her are well written and flow in a way which makes the book difficult to put down but oh so easy to pick up again when you need to return to the real world occasionally!

A story that just held my interest but I had to keep plodding on. , It felt like an American dynasty episode, a loving family, with a bitter, jealous and self obsessed young woman. The daughter, Caitlin, is kidnapped but She escapes, finds help at a local ranch and is reunited with her father. The outcome of this dictates the course of Caitlin's life. The kidnappers are imprisoned but continue to somehow affect her life for the next twenty years, until finally justice is done. It was ok but definitely felt shortchanged

Caitlyn Sullivan is just nine years old when a game of hide and seek at a family party will change her life forever.
I'm a huge Nora fan.
Have read her for years and love her writing style, how she perfectly sets the scene, The reader is absorbed into the story.
Very different this book in regards to other NR books... but I did enjoy it.

Cate is a member of the wealthy Sullivan family, all successful performers. When she’s 10 years old she’s kidnapped and seemingly held to ransom. The story follows what happens after the kidnapping, and then twenty years on.

I quite enjoyed the first part of the story, it was an easy read and just about held my interest. I thought the kidnapping could have been more thrilling and tense.

About halfway through I started to struggle with the story. It changed from thriller to family saga/romance which I found predictable and boring. I found it dragged a lot and I had to force myself to keep reading.

I liked some of the characters but found most of them were a bit wholesome and twee.

I also found the plot unrealistic and although there was some effort to bring some thrill and suspense back towards the end of the book, it just didn’t do it for me.
The ending was abrupt and very anti-climactic.

This book was OK for the first part but after that it sadly fell very flat for me.

2.5 stars.

This is my first Nora Roberts book and what a book to start with! I really enjoyed the story it was set at a good steady pace with really great characters and the descriptive writing was beautiful, I actually felt like I was there in the book alongside Caitlin.
The story starts with a unforgivable crime that the Sullivan family have to learn to live with throughout their lives. This is a story of family ties and bonds, love and friendship but also of jealousy and envy. This book had it pretty much all.

A Nora Roberts book is a predictable entity. But that’s no bad thing. A well written plot, nuanced characters, and plenty of back detail mean that Ms Roberts has delivered again. Recommended.

When cate get kidnapped as a child and manages to escape, it might seem the only thing she needs is to overcome her fear and put it behind her. Kids are strong and resilient so it would be possible if responsible for her kidnapping wasn't one person she should always be able to trust.

Cate's whole life and all her decisions directly depend on how her childhood experiences affected her.

I loved seeing how through the years and family support, cate learnt to fight her demons.

It was very emotional book but at times felt a little dragging.

Still would recommend it!

I love Nora Roberts books but they all follow a similar plotline so they are kind of predictable. However, sometimes you need that from a book and I do love her writing. Her books are a mix of thriller and romance.

We get to see the story unfold and Caitlyn adapt and grow with 3 main periods of her life. It starts with the abduction, the middle is about her teenage years and then the last part is her as an adult returning home and facing her fears. The beginning and end had a great pace to them but the middle was very slow with not much happening. It does help you get to know Caitlyn more though.

Even though it is a predictable story with some slow patches I did still enjoy it. The characters more than made up for it and I felt like I wanted to know the Sullivan family. There are a lot of characters to keep track of but they all add to the story.

Overall a nice read with beautiful scene setting and well developed characters.

I'm a month on from reading this, cause I've not had the time to post reviews, and I'll be honest, my notes are the only things keeping me straight. Nora Roberts is a skilled writer - in the sense that you can pretty much tell what you're going into. But I've read so many of her books now that they're really very...comfortable, and predictable, which isn't a bad thing.
Enjoyable, and if you're new to Nora Roberts, the book is the same level as her other books.

I have not read many books by Nora Roberts, although I found this slightly predictable it didn’t take away my enjoyment of the story. A well written story, that was easy to digest,

Whilst I enjoyed reading this book, I can imagine it won’t stick with me for that long. It was a perfectly nice read but I found it a little predictable. I couldn’t work out whether it wanted to be a thriller or a romance novel but I felt it leaned more towards the latter.

Not generally my kind of thing but I can imagine it would appeal for an easy summer read.
