Man folgt ihrem Weg gespannt.

I find this book a little predictable and boring. I am a lover of Nora Roberts she is a prolific writer, but this book is not her best.

I hate to admit it but this is the first Nora Roberts book I have read BUT it will not be the last !!

Cate Sullivan is born into Hollywood royalty, her father, grandfather and great-grandfather have all been big Hollywood actors and she is steadily following in their footsteps. That is until during a game of hide and seek 10year old Cate goes missing. Proving she is not your normal 10year old girl, she manages to escape her kidnappers and finds safety in the Cooper residence. Dillon Cooper, his mother and grandmother soon become a huge part of the Sullivans lives.

Although escaping her kidnappers everything soon changes for Cate after discovering who was behind her kidnapping. Her life will forever be changed and she will never be able to escape that one day.

The book follows the trials and tribulations of Cate Sullivan and her family, as well as the Coopers’. The story has a little of everything you could possibly ask for: love, deceit, betrayal, friendships, family drama, glamour, farming, kidnap, fame, greed and so much more.

Thank you to Little, Brown Book Group UK and NetGalley for a digital copy of this book.

(4.5/5) I'd like to thank Netgalley for the eARC in exchange for an honest review! I read this with a Nora Roberts bookclub on instagram and really enjoyed reading it with a few other wonderful ladies!

This book is split into 4 parts and all focus on the life of Cate who was kidnapped at the age of 10 but manages to escape. The book follows her life after going through such trauma and we see how it effects her and how her past won't leave her alone. I really enjoyed Cate as the main character as we literally read her growing up and the reader was able to she her growth throughout. She became who she was meant to be and that was really lovely to read. It was really nice to have male characters (her dad and grandpa) who loved openly and expressed themselves giving Cate that support. This book really reinforces that we can't choose our family but we can choose who we allow into our lives.

Hideaway really reminded me of Under Currents, also by Nora Roberts, as they were so similar in certain areas but obviously very different as well. I really admire Roberts writing style and how she lulls the reader into a false sense of security and then the next line you read you remember that you're reading a thriller. I'm in awe of how she can mix two genres in her book and it still be so successful. The only problem I had with the book was that sometimes I couldn't tell which character was speaking which maybe my own fault but it seemed a frequent problem.

The romance of the story was obvious and bound to happen which I didn't mind because I was looking forward to seeing their relationship develop and it was kind of meant to be with what they experienced together when they were only 10 and 12. I felt like every character was so well written, even the characters you're not supposed to like because they were realistic. I loved how family was so important in this book as it just gave it that extra reason to love it.

I absolutely adore Nora Roberts writing. From the places the stories take place, the writing style to the captivating characters, I am never disappointed. And this story was the exact same.

I was hooked from the first chapter and wanted to know more and more, right up until the last page.

I will continue to recommend Nora Roberts to all and can’t wait for her next perfectly told story.

Not really a mystery or a suspense. More of a life story of a girl from a big Hollywood dynasty family who was kidnapped when she was 10. Apart from having an awful Mother she has a rather nice life. It was readable but forgettable.

I have always been a fan of Nora Roberts and every time I see a new one, I get all excited all over again. This book started out brilliantly. I loved you Caitlyn and her attitude, especially her ability to save herself.
Unlike the majority of Ms Roberts' books, this one wasn't so linear. it time jumped throughout different stages of Caitlyn's life and let us see how she was growing as a person. It was a little different to anything she has written before but, as always, it was extremely well done and compelling with strong female characters and engaging male ones. Highly rec.

A very classic Nora Roberts book. I got sucked in straight away and was happy the entire journey. An absolute pleasure to read.

Quite a different read from the author's previous works. The writing was nuanced and complex. The story flowed quite a few years from Caitvs disappearance in childhood to her escape from the kidnappers and the betrayal she underwent at the hands of a loved one.

The story made winding roads as the mid section slowed up considerably. But the last section more than made up for it.

Overall, it was a good read.

Another great read by Nora Roberts. I love this author's work and enjoyed this book a lot. It's a little different to books by her that I've read previously but it did not disappoint.

Another great read by Nora Roberts. We meet some great characters, and as the the story takes place over a number of years we really get to know them as they grow.
A story about family, betrayal, vengeance and love.

I love Nora Roberts and when there is a new title due to be released I eagerly wait in anticipation. Having just devoured her previous book Under Currents, I was excited to be approved for Hideaway.
However, I really did not enjoy this book. I felt no connection to the characters, and felt the story was disjointed.... I had to keep re-reading previous passages to remind myself who was who and what was going on.
Really disappointed in this one, it was as though it wasn't actually written by Nora herself.

Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for this review copy. Have been a Hugh JD Robb fan for a while but wasn’t familiar with her other novels written as Nora Roberts. Hideaway is a skilful piece of fiction with realistic dialogue and some wonderful characters. Was quite disappointed when I got to the end as I wanted to see what happened next and whether a certain character got their comeuppance.

Trademark, Consistently Solid, Storytelling....
With the realisation that the past is having such a huge impact upon her life in the present, Caitlyn Sullivan returns to her family home to face her demons. Trademark, consistently solid, storytelling from this author makes this a fully entertaining read albeit with a slightly abrupt ending. Ideal escapism.

Caitlyn Sullivan lives a golden life, a fourth generation member of a Hollywood acting dynasty and a talented actress in her own right. Her world is shattered when at the age of ten she is kidnapped from her great grandfather’s memorial service. A crime that later would be traced back to someone who should’ve been above reproach changing Cait’s life forever.

This book is split into three sections. The first part deals with the crime and introduces the main characters who will appear throughout the book at various stages. I loved the Cooper family, Gram, Julia & Dillon and the tenacity of the young Caitlyn as she has the strength to stick to her guns. The middle section deals with the teenage years and has Caitlyn finding her path in life despite the obstacles being thrown in her way and in the final part she has to face her demons by going back to the scene of the crime so to speak.

I wanted to love this book but in all honesty I can only admit to liking it. I did love the first section involving the kidnapping and the characters are fantastic – Nora Roberts does have the knack of writing characters that you’d love to know in real life…. well all except one who I won’t name here but to my eye they come across like the villain in pantomime and I half expected to hear booing and hissing whenever I read a part involving them. My main issue though is with the suspense element of the plot. It was all just a little too predictable. It was obvious from the start who was behind it and it didn’t seem to me like the character of Cait was terrorised by it, more like mildly inconvenienced. I would’ve also liked to know a little more about Dillon’s life in between leaving university and Cait returning to Big Sur. Completely irrelevant to the storyline I know but hey, I liked him as a boy but as an adult he came across as some kind of sleeping beauty who had been waiting on Cait’s return.

Actual rating: 3.5

This book follows Cate Sullivan. Part of the Sullivan Hollywood family. When she was a child she was kidnapped. Luckily she managed to escape but this was just the start for her. 20 years later and the events of the kidnapping are still impacting Cate's life.

Firstly, I have seen this book tagged as suspense which I wouldn't say that this book is. We are aware of the kidnappers from very early on and I felt that the person who was involved was predictable. However, this is not the main part of the book. It is the catalyst event that we get to see the impact that this has on Cate's life.

I really liked the characters in this book. I like the big family aspect and how close all the Sullivans were. I also enjoyed reading about Dillion's family too. There is a romance element to this book which I also enjoyed and seeing it slowly develop between the two characters. I thought that the characters were well developed.

There were a couple of moments in the book where I felt the story dragged a little and perhaps could have been condensed down. Overall, I enjoyed reading this and I would recommend checking it out., I have only recently started reading Nora Robert's books and I am really glad that she has so many titles that I can go back and read and I am looking forward to her future books.

Hideaway opens with the funeral of a much-loved American actor, with all his family gathered on his estate. The Sullivan family are close, and yet there are signs that tension bubbles under the surface. However, when ten year old Cate is kidnapped - snatched from the gardens, we’re plunged into a situation fraught with tension. It’s even more horrifying after we’ve watched Cate escape and learn that someone close to her was involved in this plan.
The story continues some years after the failed kidnapping. Those involved are either in prison or suffering for their part in things. Cate is finding her way, and we watch her as she grows up under the shadow of what happened to her when she was a child.
Throughout, there’s a lot of relationships to monitor. We focus on the family and their dynamics after such an event. We watch Cate mature and develop her own personality. And we also get some insight into the perils involved with being part of such an illustrious family.
At its heart Hideaway is a romance. It’s about Cate learning to trust again, and developing into a relationship with Dillon, the boy who found her huddled in his kitchen after her escape. However, there’s a lot of other strands weaved in and these are, at times, distracting as not all are tied up cleanly.
This is not a genre I’ve read much of, but I’d had the author recommended to me. Thanks to NetGalley for allowing me to read this in exchange for my review.

With thanks to Netgalley and the publishers for the arc, which I have enjoyed reading.
Hideaway by Nora Roberts was an enjoyable read, a classic Nora Roberts read. A love story which just indulges the reader and allows them to forget the current lockdown because of the Coronavirus. It is well written, great characters and makes you feel good.
Highly recommended

Hideaway is my first book by Nora Roberts and it was certainly a cracking induction for me!

The famous Sullivan family have all returned home to their ranch in Big Sur to celebrate the life of their patriarch Liam Sullivan who has passed. The daughter of Hollywood royalty, nine-year-old Caitlyn (Cate) is playing hide-and-seek outside with her cousins when she's kidnapped. Cate manages to escape her captors, running through the woods until stumbling upon an unlocked and inhabited house with lights; perhaps somewhere to feel safe? When teenager Dillon Cooper and his family find her in the kitchen quivering, bleeding and bruised, they listen to her story, provide refuge and comfort, and reunite her with her loved ones. But Cate doesn't yet know this harrowing ordeal and the aftershocks will follow her around for the rest of her life...

Nora Roberts clearly excels at writing family sagas about complicated relationships, family dynamics, love, and betrayal. It wasn't long after starting to read Hideaway when it started to weave its magic, drawing me into the warmth and strength of the Sullivan family and their close bonds and kinship. Cate was surrounded by love, tradition, and generations of relatives so her abduction thwarted a life that was guaranteed great glory and accomplishment. The impact was portrayed unobtrusively, without too much suspense and angst but still showing how that trauma influenced her career and life choices.

Hideaway is a story of deceit, manipulation, and vengeance... but it's also a story of strength and conquering adversity to find happiness and hope. The characters are well-fleshed out as relationships develop slowly making them more believable. This engaging, enjoyable read really worked for me and I was disappointed when it had to end. Highly Recommended!

I received a complimentary copy of this novel at my request from Little, Brown Book Group UK/ Piatkus via NetGalley and this review is my unbiased opinion.
