Such a gorgeous book! I love everything I've read by Paige so far. She creates the most brilliant characters and clever stories.
The setting is so well written that I feel I could visit Grantchester and easily find my way around.
Hannah's background is fascinating and something I wasn't expecting. And Sonny is such a dream boyfriend...
One I'm already looking forward to reading again.

I’m wholeheartedly completely biased when it comes to Paige Toon, as I’ve stated numerous times I got into her books late on. Recently I’ve embarked on a readathon with Catriona and I’ve loved delving into the books I hadn’t read and re-reading the ones I loved.

The Minute I Saw You – is a first for me. In the first instance it’s the first proof I’ve not touched until publication day and in saying that I’ve read it in a day. Spending my day immersed in Paige Toon in Grantchester, Amsterdam and Australia pausing to watch her Facebook live, to make food and drinks and to watch her Insta live with a few chores in between. It was my mission to complete especially as I had the time to but I did find as I got further into the story my kindle said I didn’t have too long but it seemed to take me longer to finish.

Wow! I mean every single time I think I can’t be shocked by Paige I’m dumbstruck once again. The premise of this novel made my hairs stand on end the intensity and the angst was paramount. I have never imagined how sexual an encounter in an opticians could be making me think more and more about real life situations. Which I’m often left doing after being in Paige’s world.

Now for me what comes next is hard because there’s so much I would love to say but I cannot say and I wouldn’t want to risk ruining this rollercoaster for anyone. I will state one part of the storyline I had half guessed but I would never have anticipated what the actual outcome was. Paige delves into some dark subject matters but what I found encouraging was how she done so in a real way. Ignoring tabo and relying on good old fashioned friendships and conversations.

Both Sonny and Hannah I loved from the off – Paige naturally has a way of creating likeable and unlikeable women – which you will see from this novel there is a girl who features who you really won’t like ha. Hannah is strong on the outset but there is so much to her and her back story is woven through so well but you will be kept guessing for a while. With Sonny I had no incline or indication on his story but wow! I must say his cocky fun personality had me smiling like a goon throughout.

I love that this was a buddy read meaning I had a pal I could scream about stuff too. Paige has a habit of integrating characters from other novels and quite possibly my favourite couple appeared it was definitely a little OMG moment. If I had been able to read this in public it would have been one of those moments when people step away or give weird looks.

There’s so many aspects I want to talk about but I won’t spoil argh. I will mention friendships because there is a bond between a number of characters that grows, changes and evolves and each of those characters bring their own personality to the dynamic. I must say as ever for me there were tears and shocked expressions and genuine love for Paige and another heart wrenching story. The other sentiment I will mention is family and secrets in seeing Sonny and Hannah change, evolve and accept their pasts was emotional. Paige touches on sex in a totally different way showcasing that a true relationship is so much more than sex and that every single person has their own worries, stresses and insecurities but with the right person these aspects shouldn’t matter.

I’m glad I left this book until now to read, during the strangest time of my life I needed a Paige Toon all encompassing love – in saying that in this novel it made me want pizza, Prosecco and coffee…I’m not usually swayed by food in a Paige novel but this one had its moments.

This is another level of Paige Toon showcasing that this woman can put her hand to almost anything. Some hard hitting themes are dealt with such grace and precision and I’m actually left wondering on a few aspects. Quite simply her sexiest novel leaving me hoping these beauties come back to us some day. My time with Sonny and Hannah was short seeing as I read it on publication day but their story is one I will remember fondly and I will be recommending forever more.

Every time I know a book by Paige Toon is coming out I get so excited as I know I am in for a treat. I would like to thank the Books and the City team at Simon and Schuster for sending me a copy to read before release. It felt like all my Birthdays and Christmases had come all at once.
The Minute I Saw You has an unbelievable cover, as the lovely image below shows.
During the Spring Blogger evening earlier this year I got to hear Paige Toon talk about the story and her love for this book and the characters really shown through. I was even more desperate to read it. The Minute I saw You follows Hannah and Sonny. Hannah works at an options and Sonny comes in to have his eyes checked and upon looking into each others eyes they fall in love. (What a brilliant idea to spark a story) However, neither of them want a relationship, painful pasts lead to being friends and as we follow these two characters and they develop and become better people happiness maybe just a minute away.
These characters so deserve love and happiness, Paige Toon said that these two character were special and she was so right, they are firm favourites for me. I adore the idea behind this story and the way these characters meet. The setting is special two and romantic, Cambridgeshire is one of those place I have been too but not as a tourist I would love to go down the river. There are so many scenes from this book that are amazing but I will not give anything away, this story is to special and needs to be read with no hint of whats to come.
The Minute I Saw You is one of my favourite reads this year! Paige Toon's writing is like a warm embrace. She takes you on a journey that always leaves you feeling uplifted by the end.
Congratulations Paige! The Minute I Saw You is sure to be a No 1 Best Seller!

Wow, what a book. Hannah works at an opticians and when a gorgeous hunk called Sonny comes in for an eye test she falls in lust with him. The feeling seems to be mutual except when she sees him again he is only a shadow of his former self.

The story is set in Cambridge which is one of my favourite city’s and I loved reading about their trips along the river.

Neither Hannah or Sonny are looking for relationships and as Sonny is put on a self induced sex ban they are unable to do what they would normally do so instead they become friends. Both of the characters have such devastatingly painful pasts which eventually come to light and the reasons for their behaviour becomes apparent.

As they work through their problems they both become better people and through the despair there is an uplifting sense of light at the end of their tunnel. Never have two people deserved to be loved more.

This is Paige Toon at her very best and as always the last line gave me goosebumps because it was such a beautiful sentiment.

Paige Toon was written another simply stunning story.

I was hooked almost immediately and loved the blatant initial chemistry between Hannah and Sonny in their first meeting and was as confused as Hannah when a couple of weeks later he was like a different person.

From then they start to see each other about and accept that they can only be friends - especially since Sonny is pledging abstinence for reasons not entirely divulged initially. Equally Hannah is obviously holding something back about her life, which is why she has never really wanted to settle anywhere.

In fact what Hannah was hiding, was so unexpected, I literally guessed it about 5 pages before the reveal, and even then I didn't fully guess. And Sonny, I'd not have pegged what is in his past either. But it was the finding out about both them that is where the book seems to go up another notch.

I loved Hannah's new friendships and her dog Bertie is adorable too. The first canoeing scene is fabulous in that respect, so amusing.

I really enjoyed seeing just how close Hannah and Sonny could become while still maintaining there was nothing between them! It is just a heart warming story that I found a joy to read.

I found this this, like all of this authors books, to be a quick, easy to engage with book, that I didn't want to put down.

Thank you Simon & Schuster and Netgalley for this copy which I have reviewed honestly and voluntarily.

I had to fight the urge to request the three chapter sampler on Netgalley as I would have had to read the rest asap and thanks to the lovely people at Simon & Schuster I have been given early access to the full book! When Paige spoke about the book at the Spring Blogger Evening she was so passionate in talking about the two main characters who are Sonny and Hannah. You could tell she wanted to talk about it in a lot of detail but she also didn’t want to give away any plot spoilers.

I had to move ‘The Minute I Saw You’ to the very top of my to be read pile. I am a huge fan of Paige’s books and I know I’m going to be in for such a treat when I read one!

I don’t even know where to begin with my actual review so here it goes..... When Sonny enters the opticians in Cambridgeshire that Hannah works at she gets to get up close and personal with Sonny when doing his pre assessment of his eyes (what a gorgeous sounding pair of eyes they are too!) At this point it’s an understatement to say that sparks fly but when he comes back to see her to pick up his glasses he’s different person all together and she wants to find out why. However Hannah has a secret past of her own. I agree with Paige on spoilers as this is one amazing story to get to know these characters and their friends and to unravel the backstory.

Paige has a very unique gift when it comes to her writing, not only does her stories have the ending they deserve she delves deeper into the past of her main characters. I have to say she is one lovely person and it’s always a pleasure to meet her. There is always more to her writing than meets the eye and it’s always very unpredictable so you have no idea how it’s going to end! I love that ❤️ Of course isn’t it obvious ‘The Minute I Saw You’ gets 5*/5* though deserves a lot more! 😊

Thank you to Simon & Schuster UK for an advanced copy of this book via Netgalley.
