This is a debut novel which is very uplifting read.
It was a fun storyline in a beautiful setting. A good escape from reality

Spare Bedroom was an unexpected tree d surprise. It is less a love story and more a self-love story. Silly, heart warming and sweet.

A light hearted read and an enjoyable book. I didn't think the ending was too predictable as can be common in certain types of books. Great characters too!

Unfortunately I had difficulties downloading this book to my kindle - maybe it wasn't offered in this format??

Either way, I'm loving the reviews so have requested this book from my local library and will be sure to leave a review on Goodreads as always!

I had to DNF this book as I couldn't get into the story. I found the main character to be too 'try hard' and the story just didn't seem to flow that easily

Enjoyed this book and its light-hearted feel. Great characters and I liked that the ending wasn't too predictable. Looking forward to reading more from the author.

The Spare Bedroom follows Jess as she moves from London to Sydney in the hopes of getting her life back on track after a rough breakup. The last thing she expects is the bump into her ex, Sam - the same ex she has spent the last couple of years trying like hell to get over. Down on her luck and in desperate need of a place to stay, she takes Sam up on his offer to stay in his spare bedroom. There's just one small complication in that deal: his fiancee, Jamie, lives there too.
This was a great story, and with it being written in first person, I was right there with Jess. I felt what she was feeling - the despair, the hope, the jealousy - every bit of it. I went into the story thinking it would be a bit lighter and it ended up being more emotional than I initially thought, but I enjoyed it overall!
Thanks to Elizabeth Neep, Bookouture and NetGalley for the ARC.

The Spare Bedroom was worth a read, it was a nice book to get through on a Sunday afternoon. I enjoyed following Jess finding her life in Sydney and the story lines were good. A little cringey in places but nevertheless I enjoyed it.

Unfortunately not my cup of tea, very cringey and had me wanting to crawl up my own backside at times. That being said, the writing was enjoyable, I just couldn’t connect with the characters and found the story lacking a little something

I'm sorry, but I just wasn't sure about this one at all.

It's a rom-com type story about a woman named Jess who has recently moved from London to Sydney, and ends up staying in her ex's spare bedroom. However, what the ex initially fails to mention is that he's now engaged and living with his new partner.

The whole situation seemed slightly unbelievable to me, and made me cringe more than anything else. Even putting that aside, I wasn't a fan of the writing style and found the whole thing too 'choppy' for my liking.

The Spare Bedroom by author Elizabeth Neep was a quirky read with many cringey scenes. The pages kept turning in a read that had challenging moments for its characters.

The story of Jess, who has left London for Sydney.
There she bumps in to her ex, who offers to let her stay in his spare room. She doesn't know he is engages and lives with his fiance, and thinks this is their second chance. As the story unfolds you realise why.
I would have liked to have seen more of an epilogue.

I didn’t really enjoy the writing style of this one I felt it was a bit ‘all over the place’ the main character was very unlikeable and I think this was the main effect it had on me. She had a bad habit of talking in a really strange and intrusive way and also always over thought things that really didn’t need to be.

I'm giving this 3* because I ended up not being sure about any of it. Didn't really have empathy with any of the characters apart from Alice. All a bit self centred and the church stuff felt a bit 'mad cult'. The book was well structured and flowed well -just not for me.

A cute and sweet rom com. If you love Bridget Jones, this is the book for you.
Many thanks to NetGalley, the publisher, and the author for my ARC. All opinions are my own.

Jess moves to Sydney to finally get over her ex boyfriend who she broke up with 3 years ago after 5 years together. While wandering around Woolworths trying to decide where she is going to live who does she bump into but her ex boyfriend Sam. He takes her back to his house and invites her to stay only to find he is living there with his fiancé. She lies saying she is waiting for her apartment and her new job which should be ready shortly. Talking herself into believing Sam still has feelings for her she pins all her hopes on him breaking up with Jamie and finally marrying her instead but things don’t turn out that way.
I lovely book watching someone finally get their life into order as well as finding the true direction of their life.

Have you ever want to rush finishing a book because you want to move on but also cause you want to find out what happens? I did enjoy this book but only gave it 3 stars as it felt something missing in the middle. I got a bit annoyed at the Sam & Jess storyline and found it a bit cringe but just loved the ending part for Jess!
I kept getting confused when the flash backs happened, maybe because I was reading it as a proof copy on the kindle and had a different layout than a real copy?
I loved Jess as a character at the end and finally worked out what she wanted in life, it made me really want to become an artist and move to Sydney!
I got annoyed at Sam, and found him a bit in a rut working out who he actually wanted in life? He completely changed for Jamie, and I couldn’t help but think he was doing that so could be loved and not left behind, did anyone else think this?

I can see this book being pushed as the new Flatshare or for readers of Paige Toon (which style I can kinda sense!) But even though I did enjoy this book, I rated it 3 stars as it was just missing something for me

After reading thriller after thriller I decided to break it up a bit and read a different genre. I wanted something more light-hearted and easy going and this definitely fit the bill! It was such an easy read and there were lots of laugh out loud moments. Thoroughly enjoyed :)

Good book! The main character doesn’t start of well, realises her mistakes and tries to correct them. Everything works out in the end

Having read a few books recently that try to follow the vein of Bridget Jones, this one was the closest to striking the right balance between quirky and frustrating for the main character. She is naive and selfish, but she does have a good character arc where she learns from her mistakes.
