In all honesty, I found the subject matter difficult, especially the sex scenes. Sad and very harrowing in places. Still, a well-written book it cannot have been easy to write.

American Crime Story was just an okay read for me. I do not think it was one for me but many other readers probably disagree. I give it two and a half stars.

This was a great read it gripped me from the start. There are harrowing parts of his life which are hard to read that no one should go through.

This book bothered me not because I think it is a bad book! Oh, no it is because it is a good book, very good book! I went through every emotion known and was cheering for the main character Todd Black like I have never cheered for someone before. His story is so very sad and so believable. A lonely, troubled boy who to spite what all happens to him becomes a good, kind man or at least he tries to be. I can almost understand the things he does as an adult...almost. American Crime Story by Simon Wellington is worth reading! You won't quickly forget it.

Thanks to BooksGoSocial for the chance to read this ARC. Unfortunately it wasn’t my taste even though I typically enjoy true crime stories. I found this to be written in an amateurish way and didn’t enjoy it so I stopped about 1/3 way through.

I would have enjoyed this book a lot more if not for the sex scenes, which were crude, juvenile and shallow. Sure, it's hard to write a good sex scene, but if you're producing a work that calls for wisdom and empathy in the reader, please make sure everything meets that standard.

The entire book is graphic. The child abuse is horrific, the prison scenes are nightmarish, and the revenge violence is over-the-top. None of it seemed gratuitous, though -- only the coupling, which was like a callow adolescent's dream. Maybe the point was that Todd Black is forever stuck at that level with women?

Otherwise, it's a heartrending book. Thanks to NetGalley and BooksGoSocial for a digital galley.

I enjoyed this book from the plot, characters, and twists. In fact, when I first started reading it, I thought I was reading a true crime. It was so good. The author knew the subject. It makes you wonder what you would do if you found yourself in similar circumstances. I think we all would have thought we would have acted differently, but I am not so sure. At the end of the book, I found out it was a great crime story, instead of a True Crime. A writer that can make me think I am reading one genre, when in fact I am reading a completely different one, to me is one of a kind. If this does become a series, I would gladly read them.

The author's ability to truly capture the pain and thirst for revenge of Todd Black that lost his whole family kept me engrossed in this book. The final straw of losing his sister to suicide sends him on a journey that was a pleasure to read.

I really enjoyed this book! A great story line that kept me hooked and excellent main characters. I would highly recommend this book.

I enjoyed this book. Although the subject matter was at times disturbing, I feel that it depicted real life situations.
I would recommend this book to anyone looking for a real life look at what could happen when we look the other way and don’t protect the ones that need it most.

A really powerful story I thought. It captivated me from the very beginning. I am looking forward to reading the next story in the series. I'm glad to read about somebody out there is taking care of the Pedo problem that plagues us all over North America!
